Saw that years ago. Thought it was okay, but as I hadn't seen the series it didn't quite gel with me. Probably would enjoy it more now.

I actually enjoyed it a little bit more for having not seen the series, I think. I've watched it several times since watching the show and I can sort of understand why fans were a tiny bit disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, it's a top film (and a fantastic series) but the series is all about the humour, the personality and the characterization and they sort of lost some of that in the film really. And that's to be expected, I guess, you have 120 minutes to tell a story and you can't assume that people have watched the show or it'll be a box office flop. Still.

The series is well worth a watch. There's no possible way you could like the film and not like the series.

It's only about 12 episodes as well so it's not like you've got loads to trawl through. One of my favourite shows of all time, and this coming from someone that normally hates sci fi / fantasy.

The Maltese Falcon isn't it?

Awesome film. Humph was a real man's man.

Arrhhh... That's why I know it... Good film!

But Humph is no Cary Grant in His Girl Friday.

Just seen True Grit at the cinema. Thought it was very good. Jeff Bridges acting was brilliant, as was the young girl in it.

Highly recommended.

I'd take Bogart over Grant and the Maltese Falcon over almost any other noir.

It's not even Bogart that makes it for me, nor Greenstreet, the whole thing for me is just Lorre scene-stealing from beginning to end. Stunning bit of film.
