Having Beckham play for England again would be like us resorting to playing MDV up front as a lone striker.

He was good, but a bit one dimensional. He would often score from a free kick, but I would rather have Gerrard or Lennon creating lots of chances instead of a Becks Free Kick.

I think he probably will play again at some point,if we get injuries and that or if he plays well for Madrid.

I would prob have him in the squad, hes really fallen down the pecking order though.

How come FIVE people are 'Not Bothered' but were bothered enough to vote? :P

Because we're polite and like to contribute to the topic, albeit without too much effort. Which has now increased 10 fold. :o

He will be too old for the WC, and much slower! Time to bed in new blood and make a fresh start - having an out of form Lamperd and Phil Neville in the squad is bad enough. England won't miss him.

You can hardly say Phil Neville is off form, he has started the season performing extremely well.

Are you saying Phil Neville is the best right back we have in England when his brother is injured?

yes, who else is there? he has a vast amount of experience and you dont play for Man united for 8/9 years by being a bad player.

In the current squad either Young or Brown would get my vote above him.

The reason why Phil Neville got selected for Man United or England will forever remain a mystery to me. Don't like him, don't rate him, don't want him playing for the national team. I don't think he's reliable or talented...simply adequate, and on a number of occaisions for England he's been found badly wanting.

Sorry.

Wes Brown is a far better centre-back than a RB and you cant be serious about Young? there is a reason why he is stuck at Charlton and that is because he isnt that good, the only team interested in taking him was West Ham and that isnt much of a step up, if any.

no i dont think he will and hopefuly im right dont get me wrong i used to like the guy but thought he sould have hung up his boot with england after his form in euro 2004

I don't think he'll play for England again. He's had his glory days and his days at the top. His days were numbered when Sven agreed to give his job up. He adds valuable presence and experience to the side, but having somebody in the team specifically for set-pieces is something we cannot afford to do if we are to challenge for major trophies.

Hope not, lennon and SWP abr better than him and theres always gerrard on the right aswell. He couldnt beat his man then put a cross in to set up a goal like gerrard/lennon did on saturday.

But Young's injured at the moment, that's why he isn't in the squad!

Exactly.

He was one of Sven's "Chosen Men" (as Thracian would put it)

But thankfully McClaren's had the guts to move on.

The days of the galacticos have long since gone, for England as well as Real Madrid! :)
