The Price Of Fish

Well, fish and chips, actually.

As we're having a few food-related threads....a friend of mine told me recently that he pays over £5 for F&C at his local chippy. I'm not sure whether they fry them or just gold leaf them and serve them with a lightly-poached Faberge egg. :o Madness.

I pay £2.99 at our local. Can anyone get F&C cheaper than £3, or for more than £5-6????

I can get mini-fish and chips for £2 inbetween 11:45-14:00 from the chippy near my school.

Other than that fish and chips from my local - Marios is about £3.50.

Unless it's one of these babies, a Dorado. The most succulent white flesh fish I've ever gone down on. Scrumptious.

Down here it's always more than £4. Unless I've just been unwittingly going to expensive takeaways. Which wouldn't be like me.

My brother bought fish and chips for himself and 2 others last week in London (takeaway) over £20.

Disgraceful.

Not even very good fish and chips apparently.

It's a deep one, so [cleverly, I think] I sat on a chair in the restaurant at the Venezuelan boat yard and simply ordered it off the menu.

For what it's worth, I think I paid something in the order of 20 pence for a big slap up Dorado nosh...you can get a cow on a plate for about two quid.

Me and the Missus last week from Wigston Chippy:

2 fish (probably cod),

1 large chips,

1 portion of Mushy Peas,

2 buttered cobs.

Came to £8.70... is this good or bad!! (the price not the diet!!! :P )
