Leicfox Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Well ive just downloaded Vista Ultimate and installed. I think its excellent. Although i am having trouble trying to get rid of zone alarm that i forgot to uninstall when updating, its not compatible apparently and when i go to uninstall it the programme just doesn't respond.
Daggers Posted 23 February 2007 Author Posted 23 February 2007 Enough was enough ~ I have wiped my damn hard drive and re-installed XP. All of my ripping software failed to function, cracked disks weren't recognised, P2P software fell over, Messenger stopped working, connectivity through the wireless router played up, Outlook wouldn't hook up and more besides. It's pretty - it's as flawed as buggery - it's out of here until they update it. Again, I wouldn't pay money for it and if you get it free make sure you have access to an XP disk just in case it pisses you off as much as it has me.
Ric Flair Posted 23 February 2007 Posted 23 February 2007 I've just ordered a laptop with Vista installed, am I going to experience the same problems as you Dagenham? Or will it be less of a slag as it's a new laptop without any previous software installed?

JoeyB Posted 23 February 2007 Posted 23 February 2007 Yep, FM07 working for me with Vista that's good news then, think i might go and buy it when i have the funds to, or get my uncle to get it from microsoft for me
filbertway Posted 23 February 2007 Posted 23 February 2007 People who buy new operating systems straight away are mad, they're all full of bugs because they try and rush them. Although I suppose it's those people that help report bugs and such, so it can be fixed for people in the future
Daggers Posted 23 February 2007 Author Posted 23 February 2007 People who buy new operating systems straight away are mad... People who buy them - period. Mine was Vista Business, it was free...and now it has gone. Rik - I have no idea mate...sorry. Since it's pre-installed then you don't really have any option though.

Although I suppose it's those people that help report bugs and such, so it can be fixed for people in the future I've been beta testing it for over a year - TBH I'm glad that's all over MS have been a lot more demanding in the beta - pushing you for bug reports etc
Ric Flair Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Laptop's arrived, used it a few times. It's already pissed me right off. Well happy. Struggled to install some software to link my phone up to the laptop, kept giving me a list of errors. Wireless is playing up as well. An absolute beaut of an operating system, well done Microsoft.
City Fan Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Installed it the other day, its an absolute crock of shite. DO NOT UPGRADE TO VISTA!
lcfc_jme Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Not reading the entire thread, but can anybody be so kind as to tell me what Microsoft Fezta is like please? I hear it is pretty forkin' good and doesn't let you down, but can just shut off at any point without warning. I would also like to take this opportunity to say I want Fez to come back to the forum. Honestly. In some weird way, I miss him posting on here. It's just not as funny anymore.

lookwhaticando Posted 2 March 2007 Posted 2 March 2007 Word to the wise: never buy a new operating system within 6 months of it's release. Basically all the hardware manufacturers have as yet been unable to make their existing products Vista compatible, only their newest lines. Software companies have also struggled to get things ready - even Apple, one of the big boys, hasn't managed to make it's most popular application Vista compatible yet... so just think what problems smaller firms that specialize in security software are having! If you've bought Vista now and installed it already, the next few months will be rough... and some of your hardware may never be supported. Be prepared to look for alternative hardware. BBC News | Business | The Vista trap. Fascinating read.
