Daggers Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 I love a good paper with my coffee in the morning, and then turn to the Soduku section for when I have to go to my little office outside
coale39 Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Sun for when you cant be arsed Times if ya want to read something.
Cobbo Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Sun for when you cant be arsed Times if ya want to read something. Is your surname Murdoch?
davieG Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Sun for when you cant be arsedTimes if ya want to read something. i was going to put something like that but it would have been Sun for wiping my arse PS I only buy the Mercury and the occasional daily of varying sorts just to keep a breast (sun & star ) of how crap they all are
Thracian Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 I vary it but Express generally and Times/Sunday Times or Independent at weekends. There is always something interesting to read in the Sunday Times.
Daggers Posted 26 September 2006 Author Posted 26 September 2006 The Sunday Times is my paper of choice for the weekend, but I do rate the monthly Observer Sport and Music magazine.
Cobbo Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Guardian and Observer. well, occasionally the Observer anyway, surely no one can afford to regurly buy the Sunday broadsheets?
Leicester Lass Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Sun and Mercury, two top quality papers for you there
Steven Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Sun and Mercury, two top quality papers for you there ...... depending on how you define "top quality papers" .......
Maybes Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 I like having a read of the mirror and the daily mail.
City Fan Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Usually read 'The Independant' for news, 'The Sun' for entertainment, and the 'Leicester Mercury' for local news.
stez Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Guardian and Observer. well, occasionally the Observer anyway, surely no one can afford to regurly buy the Sunday broadsheets? yeah, i only buy them on sundays because of the cost! i only tend to read the grantham journal.............
Head Honcho Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Used to be the Express and Mirror for me but The Times on Sunday. I say used to be because the missus buys the Express on a saturday and I'll read it but who needs Newspapers when you've got t'internet
Smudge Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 When over there I read the Independent, the Telegraph has the best crossword though.
Head Honcho Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Guardian and Observer. well, occasionally the Observer anyway, surely no one can afford to regurly buy the Sunday broadsheets? Know what you mean The Sunday Times was about 50p when I started reading it on a regular basis, I think it was £1.60 a few weeks ago
lcfcalan Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 Amazing really, we all have internet access, I am sure all if not almost all have teletext so why do we still read newspapers?
Daggers Posted 26 September 2006 Author Posted 26 September 2006 Amazing really, we all have internet access, I am sure all if not almost all have teletext so why do we still read newspapers? Because having a paper on the breakfast table, or in bed, or on the bus is so much more preferable. There's something comforting and predictable about them...like knowing where the Soduku is
Rincewind Posted 26 September 2006 Posted 26 September 2006 The Metro. I buy the Mirror on Saturday mainly for the TV guide. Silly really cos I could get a better one for 35p. I hardly ever read it. I remove the racing page and women's pages Throw away the brochure for Argos, Give away the free kids DVD and browse the sports section. If I knew I was going to read a newspaper I would get one of the quality broadsheet. Guardian Independent Times. (weekend only) Those three always have good articles in. Good obituaries too. The thing with them there is about four extras with them and it takes a week to read them. I just think its better to waste 55p than £1.20 I got fed up with a daily paper. When I was at my previous job I used to buy a paper everyday. I used to lend it to a woman who used to do the crossword in the teabreak. I never got to see it until at least in the afternoon.
lookwhaticando Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 The daily paper I read occasionally is "Metro" here in Ottawa. Of coruse, it's only printed Monday thru Friday It's mostly crap, but sometimes it helps to read on the five minute train ride from one end of the light rail line to the other. As for a weekly, I find The Economist to be suitable reading material. Certainly so if you actually read about stuff... try doing that with the w*nk they pass off as news in the rags over here. Shameful really.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 I read The Age, Victoria's 'read if you actually want to know something relevant' rag as opposed to the Herald Sun which features a different sex scandal each week intersperced with bits of 'news' and nut-job ranting columnists. How does this apply in Leicester? The Sun and Times are the nutty ones by Cobbo's post?
