Today's result..just delays the long term inevitable

Didn't know if that was the right post for this thread (?), but today's result was nothing short of a 'fluke' after hearing the game and at last City have had a BIG SLICE OF LUCK.

This result, I'm afraid, is still part of that false-dawn we had last season after victories over Sheff Utd and Spurs - yet today we've only drawn !!!

We are in trouble and hopefully the board will step down. We have no other option !!

You are right in saying there is no other option, but not in the context you mean.

Unless there is someone seriously wanting to invest in the club & take over, there is little point in the board stepping down, as there aren't enough existing shareholders willing to replace them including the guy in your username.

I disagree. We've had Sunderland, Brum, Brom and Cov away amongst our opening fixtures and taken points from three of those. If, after the next ten games, we're still wallowing in 20th I may be inclined to agree with you, but I'm not pressing the panic alarms yet.

The pessimism on this board is fast turning me into a manic depresssive - I think I'm going to stop coming on here, you lot are unbelievable sometimes!!

Can't we be happy that we put in a much improved performance over the Colchester match, enjoyed a game with a great atmosphere (apart from the shockingly quiet Brum fans), and got a good point away from home against a team 2nd in the league??

I agree with your sentiments. It's just that our approach won't encourage confidence.

In theory, that's accurate. Though I think Kelly needs to take a bit of comfidence from results like these as well. It's easy to assume the manager's always mentally up for everything, but he's young and inexperienced too. He needs to grow with the team and have faith in them as they with themselves.

I know I'm starting to sound like a hippy, but I genuinely don't think everything will just "fall into place". I'm just not, like I say, pressing panic alarms yet. Hume and Fryatt can score goals, Andy Johnson's a proven playmaker at this level, Logan's apparently a goalkeeping wonderkid, Levi and Low have looked likely to "create things" when they've come on. There's definate potential there, and if the likes of Barton and Ultra want to say otherwise - let them - but I'm telling you as FACT they're only doing so to get attention and be controversial.

A point at promotion contenders and the team 2nd in the league is a very good result for any side in the division, let alone a side doing as badly as us. The inconsistency that will no doubt follow it though is what worries me greatly. We'll go out and play half decent in our next game but get no reward, or we'll just capitulate and embarass ourselves

I am new to this forum so excuse a bit of a rant. I have followed City since I was 12 and I'm definitely many years older than the average poster on the board. Mind you I have to say the young kids on here post very good opinions.

City are a very young talented bunch of players surely you remember the last few years of players drawing their pay for nothing. Each week we see new beginnings happening - Conrad Logan, Gareth MacCauley. If we throw in the towel someone will come in and this and the other talented youngsters won't get a chance.

I'm sure players read this board and can't you see it in your hearts to encourage them. They don't want all this Kelly stuff. They respect him so should you.

We may have turned the corner yesterday why can't you see it ? The matches I have seen have been nothing to write home about but I prefer to judge the whole set up in 2 years time. Please don't get on individuals backs it never works. Yes each one of them can have a bad day but NONE of them are as bad as a year ago.

and keep up the good work - I enjoy reading the board.

Despite my despair about our approach and our general performance there were some important positives to take from yesterday.

a) Conrad Logan would seem to be emerging as the best goalkeeper we've had in years.

b) Gareth McAuley has surprised me and others by seeming to be a capable centre-back.

Any points from Birmingham are welcome but Kelly all but surrendered the game from the off with his tactics (yet again) and his comment about having more faith in them then they have is laughable apart from suggesting the players don't have confidence.

I have faith. Complete faith. I've never touted for Uncle Tom Cobleigh to be brought in from elsewhere.

What I fear is that my faith will never be seen to be justified because our manager will never truly show faith and pick our most effective team.

Last week and in previous weeks I have pleaded for him to rid the side of Hughes and Johnson and to choose players who can attack from the back, through the middle and up front.

Once we introduced attackers we were able to exploit Birmingham's weakness yesterday - their defence. But we won't win games if we only do that a few minutes from the end. That's not faith Robert.

This team is being undersold every week.

That's the way I've come to understand our peformances away from home. We're there to get a point. We'll do enough to not get beat, but we will not even attempt to do enough to win a game. Sunderland being a fine recent example of this; we could have and maybe should have won at their place, but RK didn't give us the signal to kill them off when we had the chance, the players didn't seize the chance to do this and we were punished for it.

You mean when he stops hanging around the Casino more than the training ground!!

it's make or break imo for him he needs to realise that he needs to dedicate himself 110% to football instead of gambling/drinking which is not an easy thing for a lad of his age!!!
