Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 It's been said before and it will again our reprtoire of songs is rubbish, always has been. Even in the halcyon days of SK2 & SK3 I was always more impressed by the home team when we went away, we were never really that good. When they seated the Kop the singers should have congregated in the middle as the atmosphere would have spread out but confined to SK1 it became limited and damp. Was just about to post the same sort of thing. If anything this thread serves as evidence to support this opinion.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 My first ever away match was Swindon in 1970. We took their kop, Lenny Glover scored and we saw him on the station after the game. About 750 Leicester fans all stood there singing "He's getting married in the morning..." because he was. He caught the train to London, we caught the train back to leicester (as you do). When we got back to the station we all piled into London Road singing this immortal song: "To his horse, to his horse, he was saying goodbye to his horse, and as he was saying goodbye to his horese, he was saying goodbye to his horse." Marvellous. Did anyone else go? I'm not imagining it, am I????
Jimmy Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 "To his horse, to his horse, he was saying goodbye to his horse, and as he was saying goodbye to his horese, he was saying goodbye to his horse." i remember people always used to sing that in the turney before the game

Swedging Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 In you (forest, derby, bradford, etc) slums, In your (wherever) slums Your mum's on the game and your dad's in the nick You can't get a job coz you're so f***ing thick In your (wherever) slums Tsk. 90's version. You find a dead rat and you think it's a treat... would be the older lyrics.
SystonFox Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I absolutely loath that one with a passion. I'm glad we don't sing it!! why? some were singing it in the kop last saturday. whats wrong with it?

knightonfox Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Just remembered first part to "Those were the days" "Once upon a time there was a spion kop where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours Thinking of the great things that we'd do "those were the days......etc Comes from a 1960's pop song by Mary Hopkins. its on raidoblog if anyone's interested. personally think it would be a good song to sing again as very few clubs still sing it. Easy to pick up too. Think even some of the new happy clappy family orientated kop at the walkers might even be able to learn it.
renards Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 We've got Lenny, Lenny Glover on the wing..on the wing (to the tune hala shala) HMP wing? Its not God its only Andy Peake
renards Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Na Na Na Na Na Na Na...Na Na Na Na....Leicester (hey jude) Still fresh in my mind..may still sing it, words are easy to learn!

There was a different version to that as well that came out when we became the first team in ages to win away at Liverpool. Once upon a time there was a record That stood for eighty games or was it more Until Jock Wallace took his boys to Anfield To show those scouser bastards how to score those.........

I went to that game, went on the bus from Humberstone gate, got really vivid memory of that day, not the game though but tons of other things. One of them was apunch in the gob from a big fat kid, I was a bit out of my depth chasing Swindon fans out of their end with a load of other Leicester school kids, thnking all the older lads were following us in, but they were getting their boots took of them outside by the police, the town end was took by the Leicester sock boys! Always wondered what the song "saying good by to his horses" was about.

knightonfox Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 Seem to remember many different version of the "circus in the town" song How about one we used to sing against West Ham "I'm forever blowing bubbles pretty bubbbles in the air They fly so high, they reach the sky Then like West Ham they fade and die Tottenham's always running, Chelsea's running too And if you're in Leicester's spion kop, we'll be runing after you! Or our anti cockney song which doesnt get sung anymore "He's only a poor little cockney His face is all tattered and torn He made me feel sick So I hit him with a brick And now he don't sing anymore." I want Filbert Street back!!!!
RowlattsFox Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 i've heard this version I'm Forever Blowin' Bubbles, Pretty Bubbles in the air, They Fly so high, they reach the sky, and just like Forest they fade and die, Stoke are always losin', Leeds and derby too, I'm forever blowin' bubbles, pretty bubbles just for you! City City City
