renards Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 I usually park around freemans common on the grass near the dry dock....is that allowed? have seen a row all with tickets in the past BARSARDS!
Bert Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 I quite like the system that Southampton use...a free(according to the Cardiff program) park and ride for away supporters. Cheeky buggers were charging £3 to park up though...so not exactly free. However, the bus ride to and from the ground was quick and efficient. I'm really glad I used it. They also had a park and ride for home supporters too...must have been a condition for the development of St Marys. It seemed a lot quicker on the way back! Especially as i needed a toilet break on the way there!

[/quot we tried a scheme of buses from the station for away supporters, it didn't last ......they got wecked first time
Coxy Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 I usually park around freemans common on the grass near the dry dock....is that allowed? It's not actually illegal to park on the grass, but going on the pavement to get their is. My mates dad told me he's a copper you see
Maybes Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 Bit far walk from your house though HF. Your house could be an option for me tomorrow mate
He's not bald Posted 31 December 2006 Posted 31 December 2006 I asked some old geezer down in Southampton yesterday for the best place to park.He took one look at my shirt and said "Leicester son"
SystonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I asked some old geezer down in Southampton yesterday for the best place to park.He took one look at my shirt and said "Leicester son" credit where credits due, pretty quick for a stoopid sooooorfener.
Collymore Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I've got news for you.."the purple pirates" have been lurking for weeks,Western Road Braunstone Gate and all the side Roads off the bottom end of Narborough Road where there are restrictions are a target, the parking restrictions in all areas surrounding the ground will increase as well before the start of next season. It's a measure to ease congestion and to try and force as many fans as possible onto public transport (fat chance!) How will they know your're a football supporter? it's free parking there and they're no permits.
He's not bald Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 How will they know your're a football supporter? it's free parking there and they're no permits. You obviously haven't checked recently, all of Braunstone Gate and parts of Western Road are 1 hour only and no return for an hour..so unless City increase the half time break by 45 mins those areas are out of bounds

I normally try and park around wilberforce road and the streets off that. I didn't see any sign when I went Cardiff.
Milky Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 park on upperton rise or one of the side streets from it. There is ALWAYS loads of space and it's just a 10 minute walk to the stadium. Plus it is very very easy to get away from after the game.
Unit Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Remember tigers are playing today too, 15 minutes earlier than city so there will be less parking spaces.
Head Honcho Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Thanks, I stand corrected, I wasn't 100% certain. Seems you're alright for tomorrow Maybes but future match days could be dodgy. Is this just in Leicester or is it nationwide?
Guest Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 It's not actually illegal to park on the grass, but going on the pavement to get their is. My mates dad told me he's a copper you see So how do you get onto your driveway (assuming you have one)? I know the answer already, hee hee. Is this just in Leicester or is it nationwide? Leicester, and it can't come any sooner. Too many tossers in this once fair city feel it is their right to park where they want, when they want, and sod everyone else. Sorry Thracian. For the record, I walked to the game.

It's a clampdown on disability badges being abused they need. The amount of people I see using them illegally is appalling!
Guest Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 It's a clampdown on disability badges being abused they need. The amount of people I see using them illegally is appalling! Don't get me started on that one. "Just because I've run back to the car, doesn't mean I'm not disabled".
Bert Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Exactly Lisa. If you were deaf you would qualify for a disability pass. On King Richards road, there is a car park that is open until 7pm, and parking is £2.50 all day. Can't go wrong.
filbertway Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I saw alot of police about today walking up the streets, i'm guessing this had something to do with the parking?

I don't know why I've fielded that volley cos I can't ever remember parking anywhere that inconvenienced anyone. But as someone aiming for a career in the legal profession you perhaps shouldn't call the kettle. Lawyers in Birmingham were so cheesed off not being able to park anywhere in central Birmingham that they eventually rented journalist's spots in an underground car park beneath the Birmingham Post and Mail building when I worked there, totally ignoring the fact that while their action might buy a solution to their own problems it was bound to cause difficulty for others. Your comment about tossers sodding everyone else would have fitted them perfectly.

To be honest, I use public transport wherever possible, or walk, and I worked in the centre of a city I wouldn't take my car. It's a no-brainer.

Pretty hard getting from Birmingham to Leicestershire without a car after midnight on a weekday. And not everyone is enough of a people person to relish public transport. I remember going with National Express to an airport once and leaving from Coventry. The whole bus was awash with people, mostly women, dressed in black. It was like travelling 100 miles to a bloody funeral and there was never a moments peace with first this one then that one getting up to put something in the luggage rack, sitting down, standing up.... It was like watching a bus load of clockwork avengers. Never again.

Read a book, newspaper, magazine, listen to music etc to keep you occupied. That way you won't notice the colour of women's clothes, nor will their 'sitting down, standing up' bother you much. If everyone was deterred from using public transport simply because of the colour of fellow passengers' clothes (or the fact that people frequently get something from the luggage rack), this country's roads would be at gridlock. Besides, when did you have to be a "people person" to use public transport? You don't need to talk to anyone!
luffbra Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I've got a really good secret parking place - it's 10 minutes from the ground, it's free and it's always available ... Problem is - it's a secret, so I can't tell anyone ...
