Struggling to understand where Derby are getting their money from. This time last season they were in the shit big time and although they got new owners, they still owe a hell of a lot of money.

The new owners "re-structured" it, it went down to about 4 million in the end.......somehow.

Pompey snap up midfielder Mvuemba

Portsmouth could sign Mvuemba permanently in the summer

Portsmouth have captured the loan signing of French midfielder Arnold Mvuemba from Rennes.

The 21-year-old France Under-21 international will stay at Fratton Park until May, after which Pompey have the option to complete a permanent deal.

Manager Harry Redknapp was impressed by Mvuemba's trial before Christmas.

The midfielder was named player of the tournament at the Toulon Under-21 event in 2005 after inspiring France to victory over Portugal in the final.

Who? At first I thought it was Rio Mavuba and the BBC had just spelt it wrong ( ) but I've never heard of this guy.

Very dodgy that. They've spent about £6 million this season, so their owners must have some wedge or they are borrowing again!

Well whatever happens I hope they spend shitloads on crap players, don't make the premiership and then go bust! :D

In that case, they should be relegated to League Two directly (or even further down)! ;)

Derby are like Coventry they are taking a risk that they will get promoted in a certain amount of years so they can pay off their debts when they get their Premiership money. Coventry at the moment are in a lot of trouble, although they've got three years to get up there - Derby have decided it seems to stick all their eggs in one basket and now they are up there are gonna try and stay there. If it goes tits up there could be problems.

EDIT - Cardiff got a blinding deal for Peter Whittingham, 300k isn't bad at all for him.

From FOX Sports http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6362438

LONDON (AP) - Edgar Davids could be the next big European soccer star to follow David Beckham to Major League Soccer.

One day after Beckham agreed a US$250 million (€193 million) five-year deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy, the Dutch midfielder was in talks Friday with FC Dallas.

"We are actually in negotiations with Edgar Davids - we've been speaking for a couple of weeks," said Dallas coach Steve Morrow, a former Northern Ireland international midfielder who played for Arsenal.

"We were excited to hear about his availability, so we spoke to his agents and have been told he is available."

Davids, who wears protective eyeglasses on the field because he has the eye condition glaucoma, has won domestic and European club titles with Ajax, Juventus and FC Barcelona.

Nicknamed "Pit Bull" because of his aggressive style of playing, Davids plays for Tottenham in the Premier League but has lost his first-team place.

"It appears Tottenham are willing to listen to offers," Morrow told BBC radio. "It's the transfer window in the United States now and if a deal is going to happen it has to be done before the end of the month."

Seems to me now that becks has gone to the MLS more and more of these older guys who can still play are going to be making there ways to MLS clubs just like they did in the 70's with the likes of Pele and George Best

there all just going there for the asy ride and money tbh

no offense to the americans intended

Beckham is a trend setter, always will be. People will want to follow him and earn the same respect (and money) as he is.

Like he wants to do, he'll probably help American 'soccer' a lot because like you say otehrs will follow and the American leagues should improve.

Wonder how much he'll be on if he goes?

the mls just allowed for a higher spending cap by each of it's teams so who knows how much he will be on, i wonder how much the actual transfer fee will be or if he will be allowed to leave on a free

no he can't, i think each team is allowed to designate one player as there franchise player and make them the highest paid as long as the team comes under the salary cap, the mls has done this to encourage and attract european players.

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed the club are working towards terminating midfielder Claudio Reyna's contract. http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6358858

The 33-year-old American has expressed a wish to return home for family reasons with his wife pregnant.

Pearce said: "We are speaking with his representatives about the termination of his contract.

"It is to do with family reasons, nothing sinister. I can understand the reasons he gave to me.

"He believes his family has to come before his professional career at this stage.

"It is a case of working out a deal agreeable to player and club."

Reyna has been troubled by injuries and has not played since December.

Pearce added: "He has been a decent player and the frustrating thing for any manager is to lose someone when you are not expecting it.

"Before he got the injury as we were approaching Christmas, Claudio was playing really well."

Looks like he will end up at a MLS club as well

No great loss for city, they already have Dabo, Barton and Hamann for the centre.
