Leicester Lass Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Another one for Wisey, he has been a busy boy: Celtic's forgotten man Alan Thompson will sign for English Championship strugglers Leeds on a free-transfer in the next few days, according to reports. An article in the Mirror claims that 33-year-old Thompson will reach an agreement to end his contract now, rather than in the summer when it is due to expire. Since Gordon Strachan became boss at Parkhead, Thompson has been relegated to a minor role within the club despite the success he achieved under Martin O'Neill. While there are those who would have liked to see Strachan make more use of Thompson, at least by finally releasing him, the club will allow the player to play out the remaining years of his career on the pitch, rather than training with the youth side, as reports suggested he was with Celtic.

Leicester Lass Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 im sure leeds fans were moaning that there squad is too old, not getting any younger is it? Not at all, it's obvious that the poison dwarf has taken lessons from Micky Adams from his time at Coventry
Leicester Lass Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Milan and Internazionale are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal player Arturo Lupoli, who is currently on-loan at Derby County. Lupoli, who is contracted at Arsenal until the end of the season, has expressed his desire to return to Italy despite the Gunners' interest in retaining his services. Arsenal have offered Lupoli a contract extension, but it appears the player has already decided not to accept it and return home instead. "He is liked by Torino, Napoli and Fiorentina, but Inter and Milan have registered their interest in the last few days," Lupoli's agent Claudio Pasqualin told Teleradiostereo Sport. "Although he is very young, his contract is set to expire because the player wants to go home, despite Arsenal's interest in renewing his contract. "As a result, they are now ready to sell him in January for a small fee rather than losing him for nothing at the end of the campaign. "The obstacle is that Derby County, who signed him on loan until June, are still counting on his services."

Poakey Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Let's start the official Where Is Earnie Going? sweepstake! edit: Bale to Real Madrid? Ho ho ho! Who cares about Earnie on here but you?
Finnegan Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Who cares about Earnie on here but you? Everyone cares about Earnie. There's a little bit of Earnshaw in everyone. He's the twinkle in your missus' eye, he's the voice in your head that says 'don't quit!' he's the warmth of heart in the milkman that gives you that one extra bottle on a cold winter's day. He's the smiles on children's faces and the joyful ripple of baby's laughter. He's the strike of the hammer and the swipe of the scythe and the sweat on the worker's forehead. He's the babble of the woodland brook and the effortless spring of a gazelle's stride, he's the 90th minute FA cup winner and the game-winning clearance-off-the-line; he's the Web Ellis cup and the Olympic gold. An Earnshaw's not just for ninety minutes. An Earnshaw's for life.
Nationwider Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I almost want to close the thread as a mark of respect to that last post.
Thracian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Give me Earnshaw over Flo anytime but MM won't be spending that sort of cash. Pity!

I'd certainly forgotten him. Didn't he used to be quite good? Playing in scotland isn't a guarantee of a long and happy career like it used to be

Leicester Lass Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Juventus are thought to be targeting a move for Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, according to reports in Italy. Reports suggest Juventus have lined up Crouch as a possible replacement for David Trezeguet. Trezeguet's long-term future at Juve is shrouded in doubt, with the player thought to be considering his options. Juventus are now believed to be drawing up a list of targets to replace Trezeguet, should the Frenchman leave Turin. Crouch is thought to come under the gaze of Juve officials, as doubts continue to grow over his Liverpool future. It has even been suggested that Liverpool and Juventus might do a straight swap between Crouch and Trezeguet. The England international has struggled to hold down a regular place in Rafa Benitez's side this season, with Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy keeping him out of the side. Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in the player, but Crouch insists he has no plans to quit Anfield. Juventus are also thought to have targeted Ajax ace Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Werder Bremen star Miroslav Klose as possible striking reinforcements.
MC Prussian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Ashley Young could leave Watford for a sum of about £5m, according to this BBC Sport article.
MC Prussian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 And Norwich have signed Luke Chadwick for £ 200'000.
Thracian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 By the time we get the sodding pen out they'll only be the rejects left that no-one wants. Why are we forever last out of the traps?
MC Prussian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 The bad news for us continue: David Jones signs for Derby County.
Thracian Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 This year seems to have been one long catalogue of imcompetence from the time the players returned for pre-season training. * Pointless pre-season friendlies. * The 0-0 home fiasco against Sociedad. * Totally uninspiring pre-season signings. * Loss of Reserves football * Players being apparently exiled for weeks. * Rumours of internal disquiet. * Sheehan's idleness matchwise after loan. * Dodds idleness matchwise after recall from loan. * The number of players allowed to hang around losing fitness and doing nothing. * The drawn-out takeover which has now compromised our ability to compete. * Poor results. * Poor performances * Bizarre selections and, sometimes, tactics. * Players performing well below their known best - like Fryatt * Selection of footballers who are less than fit I am sure others can add their own complaints but I know what - it would be hard to write down a plus for every minus I've mentioned. But I'd welcome anyone trying.

dandannieldanok Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Richie Barker has left Mansfield for Hartlepool, commanding an £80,000 fee. A blow for the Stags because they are struggling and he is a good striker in League 2, reliable goalscorer.
