FilboFox Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 What? When he first took over we showed play-off form, now we're shit. Thats kinda the story for most Leicester managers after Martin... Peter (the TWAT) Taylor (He ruined us!) Micky Adams (did well then got us in the position we are in i.e. in the Championship.) Craig Levein (Never really did well...) Rob Kelly (Has done a decent job with a fairly weak team.) ???
Leonisco Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 he has already come out to say that he wants to manage Inter Milan one day and if he had stayed there as a player would probably be manager by now. Too much confidence is a bad thing . That's not having too much confidence, that's ambition - there's a difference.
Mort Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I think Dowie is probably the only realistic candidate that might come in... that said he's far from my first choice, then again could any one think of an assistant manager somwhere (or even a former player) who might be credible and effective at City?
Flynny Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I think Dowie is probably the only realistic candidate that might come in... that said he's far from my first choice, then again could any one think of an assistant manager somwhere (or even a former player) who might be credible and effective at City? Yeah, but do you prefer Dowie to Kelly? Is so, is it by a lot? Do you seriously think Kelly will take us down? There'll be better people availible in the summer.
Mort Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 Yeah, but do you prefer Dowie to Kelly? Is so, is it by a lot? Do you seriously think Kelly will take us down? There'll be better people availible in the summer. To be honest yes... but then again there may well be better candidates about in the summer, but then again its still a risk, but Newell, Cottrill etc... could well be about and there's likley to be a few managers about who've seen their sides knocked out of the playoffs for one reason or another. Then agin Tharican's mention of Ince is Ince-eresting (! ... I'll show myself out... ...but where he to continue to prove himself there are worse candidates, but i think there would be better as well.
lookwhaticando Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I think we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Worthington is as much a credible replacement as Dowie. Both have promoted a team from this league and failed to keep them in the top division (just). Did it in the same year, too! Difference is, Worthington's lads got automatic promotion, Palace squeaked through in sixth place. Worthington's lot had a better chance of staying up, they were in the driving seat until they capitulated against Fulham. Oh, and Worthington has more experience than Dowie.
renards Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 Digging up old stuff But Dowie must have wind of a position coming up somewhere, Jobless yet turns down Hull. Nearly all other clubs are doing ok, or have recently changed their manager Limited options
Chrysalis Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I would think now the best thing for us to do is keep kelly until the summer as I think we wont go down under him as he always gets results when we get too close for comfort. But I would give him only small resources and save most of them for the summer for a new manager or kelly if kelly does enough to keep the job.
Joe. Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I'd say no just yet. Wait til end of season. We're not going anywhere so it would be pointless.
Geo V Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 That's not having too much confidence, that's ambition - there's a difference. He said that he would be manager at Inter Milan had he stayed there as a player mate. That isnt ambition, thats almost arrogant to think that he would be given the managers job despite having limited experience of the league and not understanding historically that Italians are racist and the moneybackers would never let it happen.(A black man managing there club....you should have scene the scenes in some places when a black player represented the national side) Anyway, had Dowie known how to buy a player I would have said he would have been able to do a job for us but the fact is he is a poor judge when it comes to the higher level. I`d love to think that Keegan can come out of retirement to do what he is good at, taking teams into the Premiership. He has done it with Fulham and Man City (dont think he did it with the Geordies???) and to be fair, had he not been so gung-ho playing about 7 forwards, would probably have been known as the manager who won the title playing amazing footy (Asprilla, Ferdinand, Ginola etc) instead of the "I`d lov it" man!! GET THAT BANDWAGON STARTED. KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGAN!!
lookwhaticando Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 GET THAT BANDWAGON STARTED. KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGAN!! Nobody likes a queue jumper. <_< The WorthoWagon is the next bandwagon to start, I think you'll find.

renards Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Keeeeeeeeegan! He's loaded and off the scene. Play golf in spain or bleak Saurday in Colchester?
Janx Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 He's loaded and off the scene. Play golf in spain or bleak Saurday in Colchester? Come on this is football!!!!!! YAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!
amitoo Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Come on our next manager is gonna be no other then the man himself... SVENNNNNN GORAAAAAAAAAN ERIKSSON!!! ( I really hope he isn't)
Thracian Posted 10 January 2007 Author Posted 10 January 2007 Come on our next manager is gonna be no other then the man himself... SVENNNNNN GORAAAAAAAAAN ERIKSSON!!! ( I really hope he isn't) If anything could make me stop supporting Leicester it's that bloke. I can't stand him or his football.
amitoo Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Hes Such a p***k he ruined our one good chance to win the world cup and only god know's what he would do to leicester if he was the manager...scary thoughs..yakesss!!
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 It's getting mighty close to decision time and one of the biggest questions facing our club is, if Mandaric takes over, should he appoint a new manager or not. And for me one of the most frustrating things over recent weeks has been that the few people I might genuinely have liked as manager of Leicester City don't appear to be options any longer, if they ever were. The only name being persistently linked with the job is Ian Dowie and I can't see any particular reason why he should be better than Kelly. They both do some seemingly strange things. But I often quote statistics as being an important guide and Kelly's record quoted on Soccerbase is 48 games played of which he's won 18, lost 17 drew 13. Apologies if those figures aren't perfectly accurate or up to date but they equate to 67 points from 48 games. And that's not so bad for a novice manager. Much of what he's done, many of his team selections, his tactics on some occasions and the apparently bizarre background situations have frustrated me no end. So has his persistence with what I consider to be ineffective players, his habit of giving us handicaps in certain positions and his often-apparent pre-occupation with defence. But Babylon hinted that Kelly was an attacking manager when he did well with Blackburn's youth. The playing of Porter, two strikers, and Cadamarteri suggests a slightly bolder approach even if Porter, one striker and Hughes on the right continue to overload the defensive insurance. The question is, can one believe we'll be even more attacking if MM facilitates the bringing in of better players and can/will Kelly be capable of making them win with a bit of style. Given the choice of Dowie or Kelly I might surprise a few by saying I'd prefer Kelly. That record of Kelly's has never lifted us very far up the table as yet but it is an increasingly sizeable statement that the man is at least capable of doing alright. There are no great black spots on the record. Yet some of Dowie's record doesn't look so good at all despite some success at Championship level and, given that he doesn't seem any more attacking, high profile or personable than Kelly, and keeping Kelly will save another unnecessary upheaval then, given those two as the choice I'd stick. The only reason I'd change my mind is if we could get an attack-minded, high profile, demostably capable alternative. Trouble is such people are not likely to be running around jobless and looking for work in the Championship. Someone like Paul Ince might make me think again though. Been there, quality performer, lots of contacts and knows how it's done at the top. Good post. Only disappointing thing for me is the fact that as highlighted we're not expected to climb much higher than where we are. Surely those who want Kelly out are getting ahead of themselves. Need to learn how to walk before you can run! Kelly's done alright with sweet FA, he's slowly getting in the attacking players when the opportunities arise, and should have the opportunity to play around with the transfer kitty.
Ric Flair Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Keegan and Mandaric sounds like a rollercoaster i'd like to ride. What would everyone think if we got Glenn Hoddle, should Kelly get the boot? I seem to recall him being heavily linked with us when Adams left and plenty of fans wanted him. He had a fairly crap spell at Wolves, but I think his record elsewhere stands up against the likes of Dowie and Worthington
renards Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 We have got used to the people running our good club (past and present) being indesisive and weak. Taylor; cocks up big time and is given a new contract. Bassett and Adams; 2 managers 1 job Levien; Clearly out of his depth continues until the 11.5 hour The shambolic attempt to replace Levien, the wise choice would of been Billy Davis, there to be had. Be suprised to see MM arrive quietly and suck it and see, he's had plenty of time to work on his game plan
Daggers Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Keegan and Mandaric sounds like a rollercoaster i'd like to ride. What would everyone think if we got Glenn Hoddle, should Kelly get the boot? I seem to recall him being heavily linked with us when Adams left and plenty of fans wanted him. I don't want to ride him at all.

I'd prefer Hoddle to Dowie or Worthington though, At least he's got a presence about him. Weird as ****, but likes to play good football.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 I'd prefer Hoddle to Dowie or Worthington though, At least he's got a presence about him. Weird as ****, but likes to play good football. Worthington had money at Norwhich and ended up in a similar situation to us last season. Hoddle I can't stand and he had a bad spell at Wolves...It'd have to be Dowie for me, if we really need to appoint a ex Premier League manager just to look good it'd be him I go for
RowlattsFox Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 what are the chances of chris coleman being sacked between now and the summer because i like him as a manger. i always think hes going to be the next prem manager to be sacked but it never happens.
