Zingari Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 This arguement is futile. All those that can't afford a ticket\low income\poverty should get a discount, everyone else can phoook off!!! PS - This is a very broad answer, i'm not going to write an essay to evaluate it!! And yes I do like big nipples!!! i can't afford a ticket and neither can my butler and gardener ; do we qualify
Flynny Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Pot Noodle 80p@40weeks = £224.00 Tray of lager @ 40weeks = £480.00 Pint of milk to argue over = £0.60 Five fire brigade call out charges = £250.00 Uni fine for abusing email system = £100.00 Accommodation = £1500 A hat that makes wearer look an utter twat = £35.00 Ironic children's TV show T-shirt = £25.00 One service wash every six months = £40.00 Expensive phone contract = Mummy wanted me to have it Union trip to Amsterdam = £75.00 Fine for illegal importation of narcotic substances = £250.00 plus sore arse Yup, there's enough left over...unless I left something important out? Yeah, bunch of flowers once a week for the dippy bird at the hemp store.
Leonisco Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Yeah, bunch of flowers once a week for the dippy bird at the hemp store. Student discount would be very helpful to me if I'd actually been given a fvcking NUS card!
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Can't believe this needs debating... does everyone assume students don't spend money other than booze etc...? People need to live in the real world, surely a discount to a sector of society that has less funds is acceptable? Some people are, for want of a better word...stupid. I'm fed up of students being bad mouthed, or the common sterotype that goes around, end of the day were proven to be intellectually superior to your average person, thats why were at uni and because young people have less money anyways let alone students, £10 a game is perfectly acceptable.... LIVE WITH IT!
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Well i'll conceed then that if your not a middle class student who's daddy has payed there way through uni etc, then you can have cheaper match tickets, if you are one of the said above, pay full price, your dad can afford it. how do you differentiate? your stupid little argument is somewhat flawed

LIVE WITH IT! Your argument is one sided & just because your higher educated does not mean it will get you any further or be a better person. So what about the average young single man then who's left home and got a flat but he's not as intellectually superior to you your majesty and only earns mininum wage from graffting 8hrs a day for it all to be gone and him left with next to nothing each week, he's to proud to go on the dole where he'd probably be better off, he cannot afford full price match tickets every week, going to gigs every weekend etc etc, after paying out his bills, why cant he pay £10? Surely he's classed as a sector of society that has less funds, but he's not because he's a graffter. Its sickening. As ive said its not a problem i have in the main, if i were a student i'd do the same and claim as much as i could, i just want a valid reason as to why it shouldn't be the same for workers on low incomes.
Leicfox Posted 21 February 2007 Author Posted 21 February 2007 how do you differentiate? your stupid little argument is somewhat flawed What was the point.
Daggers Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 I thought this was about nipples? I think we should add sexy arses to the list
Master Fox Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 I think we should add sexy arses to the list yeah. i think you're right
Trumpet Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Surely the average man married with children didnt have to go down that route?
Daggers Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Surely the average man married with children didnt have to go down that route? What? The arse? I've been trying to convince my wife for years.
Master Fox Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 What? The arse? I've been trying to convince my wife for years.
Flynny Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 What? The arse? I've been trying to convince my wife for years. Game, set and Match, Dave.
lcfc_jme Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Game, set and Match, Dave. To be fair, Dave won this thread when he posted about what students should be given. Now he's just showing off. Fact.
Matt Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Yeah when your paying £3000 a year + accomodation/living costs (£2-3000) just for education, you would want a discount! No-one forced you to go to uni, did they? When I was a student I had to pay because I was considered in full time education, So missed a days pay, in education but still had to payes taxes! I have no problem with people going to uni, but really don't see the point when people study something at uni and then don't even use there qualification, I don't know whether its just me but the amount of people who have been to uni studied whatever then not even used there qualification is unreal, as I said I don't know whether its just me that have seen these examples or whether alot of people have also seen these examples. I know a few people who have finished uni, and have been qualified for about 2 maybe 3 years, but so they don't have to pay there student loans and debts they don't work (I don't know the in's and outs of it but its something to do with you don't start paying your loans and debts until you start full time work). So we have millions of people at uni, learning occupations/subjects which are going to well over populated in years to come (Just a few examples that I see as many people doing at uni...Phsycology, Teaching, Doctors, Science, Police, e.t.c...all good occupations, good subjects in there own right but do we really need as many as the amount of people studying these subjects?) they qualify and don't pay of there debt so the rest of the country has to strugle with that fact, and we have millions unemployed...hows that work? Everyone knows my view on it, made my point well know time after time. Gets boring even for myself now but its a debate that really winds me up. I'm not saying everyone should do a trade, learn something else, i'm not saying people shouldn't go onto further education - they should, but its just winds me up that so many people go to uni, waste thousands of pounds, moan because there skint, qualify then don't even use the qualification, I'm sure many do but the examples I have seen this is not the case!
Guest Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Do the unemployed get cheaper match tickets then ? I've got a problem with the elderly to, they have millions stashed away but all they do is complain about consessions on buses. Make them pay full price too. Oh for generalisation....Does the fact that students are more likely to go on and contribute towards the welfare state by paying more taxes thanks to their higher potential earnings not mean anything?
Matt Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 Oh for generalisation.... Does the fact that students are more likely to go on and contribute towards the welfare state by paying more taxes thanks to their higher potential earnings not mean anything? Sorry to bring it all back down to "Yeah get a trade", "Yeah get a proper job" opinion again but its my opinion and I stick by it time after time and it my side of the arguement anyway - I did an apprenticeship and while I was studying I still had to pay taxes, I have higher potential earnings, I will defiently go on and contribute towards the welfare of the state yet I have had to pay taxes almost since the day I left school...So wheres the point? And also as i've said in past posts I know a few people who have gone to uni, have been out of uni for about 2 or 3 years and havn't had a job since because a full time job = paying your loans and debts back, I don't quite know the ins and outs of that but that how I have understood it. So 1) There not even working, How does that benfit the country? and 2) Whats the point in going uni and studying what they did when there not even using it, On the other hand they could use it in the future but i'm talking currently. I've said in my last post, I'm beginning to bore myself when debating this but I just can't help myself I have to reply and have to make the points! It's like talking to a brick wall though!
Number 6 Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 To be fair there is a large number of students at uni who go for a laugh, have mummy and daddy give them bucket loads of money and then piss their loan up the wall. This shouldn't stop lower prices though, I am a student and have to work x-mas, easter and summer to get by as I get the smallest loan available, of which accommodation has to be paid, I have had to cut down on many luxuries, I only spent £4 last week, I think that's quite impressive, I'm not quite sure how I am still alive.

Number 6 Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 well, who says university doesn't prepare you for real life eh? it does to be fair
Vardinhio Posted 21 February 2007 Posted 21 February 2007 So 1) There not even working, How does that benfit the country? and 2) Whats the point in going uni and studying what they did when there not even using it, On the other hand they could use it in the future but i'm talking currently. I've said in my last post, I'm beginning to bore myself when debating this but I just can't help myself I have to reply and have to make the points! It's like talking to a brick wall though! Despite the subjects people study most students achieve a successful academic grouding in research and impressive analytical skills irespective of their choice of course or their future career. Think about people doing Law for example who have studied at great depth the ins and outs of statutes and their applications, the skills they develop are often tranferable. One example of this is the amount of journalists and politicians who have sought this solid foundation. Going to Uni isn't a must but look how the world is changing, you need every advantage you can get these days and undoubtedly obtaining a degree will allow oneself to usually have greater earning capacity in the future not to metnion gaining an advantage of those people who left school less qualified initially. Myself I'm studying Business Management and plan to do a placement year next year aswell as currently working part time at uni and full time back home over most holiday periods. When I graduate I'll of had 2 part time jobs, a years full time work in an organisation, GCSEs, A-Levels and my degree. That's how I choose to start my career anyways, there isn't one right or wrong way..
Milky Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 A lot of students are the future of this country and you should be bloody grateful that these intelligent hardworking people are around to try and keep society out of the shit (though sadly it seems intelligence and common sense are in short supply) and move the world forward. ok we have the piss artists who do easy subjects based on getting EED at A level, and you always get free riders, but don't let that get in the way of the many important students that will benefit society greatly in future years.
lookwhaticando Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 I'm doing a degree in Statistics. I don't know what I'm going to do when I graduate. So sue me. ... if you have an appropriate law degree, that is.
