Silly Us - Just Been Warming Up For The Promo Push!

All this time we've been getting our knickers in a twist over home defeats to lowly opposition and winless streaks and what have you - blissfully oblivious to Kelly's cunning plan.

Surely it can't have escaped the attention of the faithful that we've come on strong at the business end of the last three seasons (yes, even under the great L A T R I N E *, we ascended the U bend). But too many fans have been getting on the players' backs as they have been going through their essential pre play-off rituals of ball watching, conceding possesion and general hoofing. Don't these yobs know ANYTHING about modern coaching techniques?

Kelly's timed it all perfectly. We're just 13 points behind Wolves & Co with a game in hand on some of 'em. Another five straight wins and we'll be talking AUTOPROM.

Er...and briefly coming back down to earth again: at least the relegation fears were put to bed last night...almost.

*Did you know that I was banned for using this affectionate monicker on this site? Don't believe me? Try keying it in in small caps with no spacing and see what comes up!

As much as I would love to see us get in the playoffs it will not happen. As I just said in another thread, this morning I calculated that to match the 'average points per game' of the team currently in 6th place we can only drop 4 more points this season.

You won't win your bet. It would be a dream... but... not gonna happen. :(

over the past 3 seasons on average 6th placed has finished on 74 points. we can potentially finish on 82 as it stands. meaning that in the final 13 games we could quite realistically get 6th place by winning 10 drawing 1 and losing 2.

i'm not saying we will get in the playoffs but right now theres still a very very slim chance of it and it makes things ever so slightly more interesting.

We wont get in the play offs now stop being silly.

You know leicester by now.

They've only won the past few games to stave off relegation.

Soon enough the same old boring sh*te leicester will grace us again.

most likely, but for now there's a slight element of fun and interest being a city fan again and it's been a while since i felt like that.

if we can have a strong end to the season and finish top 10 then next season we can seriously look at top 6 and i may even start going again, haha. the last 3 years have completely drained all my enthusiasm for going to see them so an encouraging end to this season would bring me, and im sure alot of other fans, back.

but if we get to 52 points and then take an early holiday then i'm going to be no more enthused than i have been in recent seasons.

It would be foolish for anyone involved at the club to seriously think the play-offs in reachable, but there isn't any reason why they shouldn't try and get the best 3 players they can out there and really give it a good go for the rest of the season.

We've won 3 on the bounce, against 3 very poor opposition and in each of the games we've shown glaring signs that we haven't suddenly turned a corner and we won't look back, but wins breed confidence and some more quality in this side could see us push further up the table.

It would be unthinkable for us to go the rest of the season unbeaten or to win most of our matches, but 3 new signings in the right areas of the pitch could give us a chance of building something interesting.

Our strikers aren't scoring enough goals at the minute, but luckily our defence has shored things up and other areas of the pitch have chipped in with the goals. I can't help thinking that a new striker (Todorov) a new attacking midfielder (Patrick Berger) and a new winger (Julian Gray/Trevor Sinclair) could give us the options that could win most of our remaining games with a bit of luck!

I'd give it a go, it won't happen, but as someone as said. It keeps things interesting until the end of a season that up until a few weeks ago looked dead and buried.

the next time i get a few minutes off work im going to the bookies to see the odds on leicester finishing in the playoff places. A mad idea perhaps, but maybe worth a £5?

You can get 25/1 on Betfair but to be honest I wouldnt waste my money. Ther are some huge clubs up there with big squads and despite the likes of Colchester and Plymouth sliding down the table, there are far too many clubs to overtake to get in the play-offs.

Do that and it'll show you the mammoth task that Leicester have. We simply will not make the playoffs.

Was surprised to see that I predicted Preston would win the league.... couldn't be arsed to do exact scorelines either, I just did 1-0 or 1-1 or 0-1 on all of them.

I was fairly optimistic about Leicesters results, and we're still nowhere near.

Your predictions are laughable. All teams currently occupying the relegation slots are on target to exceed 40 points. And, judging by the faltering progress of teams currently in the promo/play-off spots, probably none of them will break 90 points.

I took a er more optimistic approach

Anything can happen. So long as we win every game and all the teams above us dont win another game this season. :D:D:D

Meh. We've just played the three worst teams in the entire universe. Top half, my jacuzzi.

I've got a bottle of bubbly on ice...I'm calling it The 52-Pointer.

I just wasted 10 mins of my life doing this and it dissapeared lol! We finished 10th and the top 3 were all on 88 points from memory. Disasterously Leeds just avoided relegation and Dennis Wise was announced as King of England.

You're right. If we win on saturday, then we can perhaps have some belief that we're getting better. Ipswich, Cov and Burnley are shocking football teams.

Lisa, you have no idea how much I have missed your spiteful barbs...

Spiteful? I was being friendly....

Spiteful? I was being friendly....

Your last post was - not so sure about your other 10,000 and odd.

Anyway, I'm not the kind of guy to bear a grudge. So we'll have our usual kiss and make up behind the bike shed after we've stuffed the baggies tomorrow.

And then it's pistols at dawn again over Rob Kelly's future after our next home defeat.

Ah! The eternal cycle of love and hate and hate and love...
