Manwell Pablo Posted 9 March 2007 Posted 9 March 2007 It's not rocket science is it. There's a hell of a lot of people out there that do nothing all day. And the majority of their bosses will know they do nothing but not particularly care. That's they way things work. Nothing to do with employment law really. Personally I like a challenge and wouldn't be happy twiddling my fingers. Some people are different. And fair play to you if that's what you like! Not paticularly I've been trying to get out of it for ages but lack of experince and travel means have hampered me. In the mean time this will do nicely.
hairy Posted 9 March 2007 Posted 9 March 2007 I know my employment law, and my employers know I know my employment law. I can't be sacked for doing nothing unless they give me something to do (which they very rarely do, when they do it gets done properly) so they turn a blind eye. Unless they don't know I'm not doing anything, which would make them complete idoits. But haven't you signed a t'interweb usage policy that states you will be sacked for inappropriate use. Neither have I but I made everyone else sign one . Its great being in charge of IT.

hairy Posted 9 March 2007 Posted 9 March 2007 Not signed anything of that sort, if any ones head of IT here it's me anyway. Very sensible Manwell. Its amazing how many people on here during the day are employed in IT. We must be all very busy They say there is a shortage of lazyarsegoodfornothings IT engineers. Thats probably because the ones they have never do anything.
The People's Hero Posted 9 March 2007 Author Posted 9 March 2007 I hardly twiddle my thumbs. I can type on here and listen to someone lying about how they have a cheaper insurance quote elsewhere at the same time.
hairy Posted 9 March 2007 Posted 9 March 2007 I've not even signed a contract.... Good for you. That means you have implied terms rather than actual terms which will always work in your favour should it get 'sticky'

Jon the Hat Posted 9 March 2007 Posted 9 March 2007 I work about 10-15 hours overtime a week unpaid, so if anyone wants to complain about the odd post on here they can try.
