Birmingham Match Thread.

So did Fulham....

We always seem to raise our game against bigger teams.

We may always seem to raise our game but we don't get many wins.

Against the top 6:

Sunderland - 1 point

Derby - 1 point

Birmingham - 1 point so far

Preston - 0 points so far

West Brom - 1 point

Wolves - 3 points so far

Cups:

Fulham - a draw & extra time loss

Villa - extra time loss

Valiant performances with little reward won't keep us in this league

A win is essential, but a draw wouldnt be a disaster. That'll take us 3 points clear and a way better goal difference going into saturdays game.

Going to Southampton (Leeds) is harder than going to Preston (us), and away to Stoke is never ever easy (Hull).

First thing first, lets go out there and fight for our pride tonight.

Like I said, we will have to be exceptional

They have their weak links too. But Barnsley seem to have went for it. Their OS describes them to have attacked but keeping a reasonable eye for Birmingham countering and diving players (DJ Campbell). Another trick they employed is to taunt the opposition making them nervous...etc.

The problem will be McSheffrey and that depends on Newton or Cadamertari doing everything to keep him quiet, so Cada looks better in this respect although Newton's pace is an asset.

There is no room to experiment with Mattock, Nisse and Maybury (not Stearman today!) need to be fully charged for this game and make sure the defensive duo McAuley and Kisnorbo are helped out as much as possible to limit erratic defending but also using opportunities to launch Porter.

Porter is for us today under extraordinary pressure to deliver. He has had quiet games in attacking respect but nearly each game Barber has mentioned that he has helped out a lot in defense. Today he must attack and not be afraid to do so.

The final chapter is Hume and Fryatt. Both of them must ignore their own plight and give however has the chance to score to do so. Fryatt in particular will have to make an extra effort because he has to avoid any clashes given his recovery is still underway.

lol As if, I wish McSheffrey was our only problem.

They have good strikers, and a worrying amount of good strikers. DJ Campbell may not even play, it will be two of him Andy Cole, Nicholas Bendtner, Cameron Derome, Rowan Vine, oh and then they have Forsell as well. I dunno who you prepare a defense that could be facing any two of six very good strikers at this level.

Then there is Clemance and Larsson, in the middle. They're Good, solid midfield players. We don't have that.

The level is going to have to be stepped up or Brum are going to have to play poorly.

You can't pick out key people in our team who need to improve, if we're going to win they all need to improve, drastically.

Com'on Leicester!

Tonight is such an important game for both sides. It would see Brum go into 2nd if they win, so they will be up for it, which makes it even harder for us. We really do need to see the best performance of the season which is unlikely so we are going to need a miricale. :(

We could position some snipers to take out the Brummies team bus en route (tyres only obviously)

Let's not forget Muamba. Infact they have 2 midfielders who never play for them who would walk in to our team - Danns and Kilkenny. It's frightening, but with the right application and attitude we can make a game of it. Early goal and keep the pressure on.

Wesolowski will need to be instrumental if we are to win tonight, he's got to win the midfield battle and there needs to be a runner alongside him to break forward once he's destroyed a Birmingham attack.

Danns is out. Not that it makes a differnce.

Any idea on their team for tonight..? It'll also be interesting what changes Wortho makes after the Norwich game, cant see that many, though if Kenton's out...Stearman at right back? (as Mabbs wasnt even on the bench last time) and perhaps DannyC or even Hume on the right? :dunno:
