Mascherano Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 why do teams never get them at thier place if rooney had been fould the way o'shea fouled dong gook it would have been giving no question it is joke
The People's Hero Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 You're right of course and the entire footballing world knows it. That's the culture of British football though. It's been the case for years and years.
Flexx Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Yep mourinho's got it spot on aswell. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/6581809.stm Don't get why refs are doing it, unless the FA want man u to win the title. The same thing was happening last year in F1 when the FIA were not disciplining Schumacher cos they wanted him to win the title.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 why do teams never get them at thier place if rooney had been fould the way o'shea fouled dong gook it would have been giving no question it is joke Old news. 90% of penalties at Old Trafford go Man u's way.
Dr The Singh Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Old news. 90% of penalties at Old Trafford go Man u's way. Agreed, this topic crops up every single season, you would have thought the media and jouno's etc would have had enough of it by now!!
Phube Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Maybe until somebody does something about it!!! I remember when we're given the first penalty a Old Trafford in like about 2 years!!! And that cheat Bartez ( ) spent the time kicking his post... Muzzy scored and I had to be retaken and he missed!!!!
lookwhaticando Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Meanwhile... at the Walkers, 90% of penalties go against the home team.
Phube Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Meanwhile... at the Walkers, 90% of penalties go against the home team. 95!!!!
lookwhaticando Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Don't we break forwards' legs though? No... just our little midfielders' leg.
DB11 Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Old Trafford is a fortress and ref's daren't give anything againts the Reds. Leicester and their fans should make the Walkers like that
Number 6 Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 this is a serious issue, not giving boro then pen would have cost chelsea the title
davieG Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Meanwhile... at the Walkers, 90% of penalties go against the home team. That's because we're always defending and rarely in the oppo's box.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 The FA have been dining on sumptuous prawn sandwiches and have told the referees not to give penalties against United. Wankers, can't believe I actually want Chelsea to beat them now.
Geo V Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Fergie plays the mid games so well that the refs are under pressure not to give important decisions against him. Thats class . Its difficult to say whether away teams dont get penos at Old Stratford because I would have thought that most of the game is spent in the middle of the park or in the opposing sides box but theer is no doubting that they have had two ropey decisions go there way in recent games. To be honest though I think that stadiums that are packed to the rafters have historically got the "home bias" from the ref because of fear that they may get murdered . Refs are braver in siding with away teams when they visit half empty stadiums like at Wigan, Fulham and Man City and are less likely to give decisions to the away teams at Anfield, the Emirates or Theatre of silenece.
Koke Posted 24 April 2007 Posted 24 April 2007 Its old news reaelly. Its been like this for years. The refs have been told "If in doubt, give it in the favour of United"
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 April 2007 Posted 24 April 2007 Its old news reaelly. Its been like this for years. The refs have been told "If in doubt, give it in the favour of United" Stat for you all, 6 penalties have been given at OT this season, 3 for Man u, three against. Where as at the bridge Chelsea have been awarded 1 or 2 I don't remember, and have conceaded 0.

I have found it quite funny that good old Jose has whined about the fact that no ref ever gives a penalty against Man U, and everyone has agreed with him. And it's taken till now for someone to point out that no one ever gives a penalty at Chelsea. Seemingly no matter how often John Terry will handball a shot in the box.

What teams got awarded the pens at OT? I'd like to know, just to refresh my memory. Because I cant re-call any to be honest.

I heard that one too, which did surprise me to be fair. In the league in total, Man U have conceded 3 penalties over all and Chelsea have conceded 1 - or so I've read (unsourced). That's not for a lack of trying on Chelsea's part... every time that Boulahrouz bloke went in for a challenge in and around the box, you could see the opposition players getting ready to wave their arms around in protest. He was almost as big a bombscare as our McCarthy. Still, the numbers themselves suggest Moaninho hasn't much of a leg to stand on - United have conceded three more penalties than Chelsea in the league, so it's not like it's impossible to get penalties against them.

I do still have sympathy fo Jose, they were both stick on penalties this week, and Heinze should of walked for his challenge against Sheff United.

Yeah, I can agree with that... on another day either of them could have been sent off for their clumsy challenges. Thing is though, they weren't sent off. Rightly or wrongly, the officials took no action. It strikes me as something of a sad state of affairs when you're almost reliant on the decisions of the referees - because that just boils down to luck. I dunno... it just strikes me as sour grapes this time around. Perhaps if Chelsea had won against Newcastle, I wouldn't see it that way... but for me, at the minute, all I see is Jose bitching about a penalty decision at Old Trafford because his boys blobbed the chance to close the gap. If he had won and was still complaining, then I might have rethought that view. He's doing himself no favours with his timing, it just stinks of sour grapes in these conditions.
filbertway Posted 24 April 2007 Posted 24 April 2007 Man Utd Penalties conceded at home: Wigan ... Baines 90th minute, Man Utd won 3-1 Bolton.... Gary Speed 87th minute Man utd won 4-1 This is jsut when the oposition have scored, I duno if there are more where a goal wasn't scored from the pen.

That was in the stats as well 3 awarded 2 scored, I also don't know who took it, those stats really do say alot about the pens awarded though. Not exactly high pressure penaltys are they, both games were clearly over.
