Here's the thing...

I'm staying in Lincoln next week "on business" (fnarr fnarr). No, actually I am. Well, some conference crap anyway.

I need to do some shopping while I'm there, for 'tis Mrs NW's birthday and it's the only chance (virtually) I've got to buy her owt.

Are there any Linco's (?) out there, and do they know if there's anywhere to do a spot of late-night shopping in Lincoln...or does everything shut at 5?

Please don't make me drive to Nottingham, please.

Helpful suggestions = :worship::worship:

Reminds me of that Fanatical Frank sketch where they go to Grimsby for an away game just before Xmas and the only shop open is a fishmonger so he buys all his friends and family fish for Xmas.

Sorry for the unhelpful suggestion. Never been to Lincoln.

Note to self,

For...future....reference...Feeeeez.....has...never...been...tooooooo...Lincoln.

Grimsby - a very aptly named place. Although it was the location for The Greatest Goal Ever Scored ©.

The 3 yard screamer from the winter of 54?

Was muzzys overhead kick there?

Yes, yes it was. Impey's cross made it special though. Anyone can do an overhead kick from the edge of the box but to cross a ball with such precision, well...you'd have to be Impey :dunno:

That's why God invented www.amazon.co.uk

Yep. Normally I'd agree with you, and I will get some stuff off of there. Just in case she's already got Kapersky Anti-Virus and the latest Andy McNabb, I need to go that extra mile though.....

I'm a Lincoln boy.

Lincolnshire is the land that time forgot, everything generally closes at five.

Thursday's late night shopping around Christmas time, doubtful that it's happening now.

If you can get involved with some daytime shopping then have a gander up Steep Hill, if you just walk up the High Street you'll eventually get to one of the few hills in Lincolnshire and there's some well nice shops up that and around the top.

Have a gander at the Castle and Cathedral while you're up there too if you get the chance, they filmed the Westminster Abbey scenes of Da Vinci Code there.

I'm just digressing now.

In short, Lincoln's not really the place for late night shopping, but if you can get some done during the day then it could be worth it.

Oh, and I was loving it when Muzzy scored against Grimsby, my physics teacher at the time was a huge Grimsby fan.

Successive relegations was also enjoyable.

I remember that game; attempting to write "BLUE ARMY" in the sand (before the game, obviously) whilst battling a hurricane blowing in from the North Sea.

Note: There may be some exxageration in the above post.

Sausages. They sell Lincolnshire sausages.

I went to Lincoln once: It was full of school parties doing incredibly boring school trips - and I got dog excrement on my shoe, and my brothers car after the match. He was very unhappy.

Only used to get sausages from Lincoln. Other sausages just didn't cut it.

So, it's solved, Mr. Wider... you can buy your good lady wife some Lincolnshire sausages, from Lincoln.
