Lineker's Left Foot Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Cheers for info lads.He was OK at Rangers as I remember. We have plenty of boys at Hearts built like brick s&^thouses. Something to do with the Drago style training probably so a lad that is quick and will whip in some crosses is what we need. Sounds like he might be OK for us. Put it like this, I'll personally pay and drive him to Hearts if you want !! He just isn't good enough for the Championship, although ways in with the odd goal here and there!!
NorthernFox Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 And we are getting paid... Tara chuck, good luck with the ......................
Geo V Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 I'm a Hearts fan. You might have guessed from my username. I see you lads are delighted to be rid of Hughes. Any positives at all? Any stats from last season on him? Good Luck with him mate but he just hasnt kicked on in his career down here. In his defence, he played right-mid a lot which isn't his position but he cant tackle and track back which makes him a liability at centre midfield. £50k is peanuts though but I'm sure he`ll be a half decent reserve when you have an injury and suspension crisis

Geo V Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Or the Lithuanian's cant be bothered We think we have problems at times but imagine if we had the goings on at the poor Hearts lot . £9m in for Gordon, £50k spent on Hughes!
another jambo Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Wow, looks like you're holding on to him for now.... http://www.jamboskickback.co.uk/showthread.php?t=48960 Mebbe he's good at making pies/cleaning boots, etc? Harsh, though. I can totally understand the feeling when you have "players" at the club whos only function seems to be draining the wage budget (hearts seem to have built up most of their squad for that reason atm....)
another jambo Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Aye, the chat seems to suggest that the sneaky wee bugger has a clause in his contract stating that, if he ever becomes any use to a scottish team, Rangers can have him back on their own terms. If that's true, what a creep.

BartonFox Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 I herd a something about a certain clause you lot tried to put in his contract during your last little discussion with him that was worse than that. People didn't believe me when I said there was a good reason he didn't go first time. Hughes will do alright up there as he would here given the chance, but sometimes the shutters come down to far to be lifted back up for some people.
another jambo Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 I herd a something about a certain clause you lot tried to put in his contract during your last little discussion with him that was worse than that. Really? Please elaborate. It wouldn't surprise me if vlad'd asked him to play in a maroon french maid's outfit every week...

Yeah, I mean he's only had two and a half seasons to display his talents to us. And it's not like he's done anything himself to bring the shutters down..

If that's true, what a creep. Mate there is no chance of that happening the only way he would be involved in the scottish team would be to clean darren fletchers boots and even then he would still more than likely be useless at that!!!!!!!!
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Hughes will do alright up there as he would here given the chance, but sometimes the shutters come down to far to be lifted back up for some people. Hmm, do you not think this is taking patriotism towards your fellow countryman a bit too far? I really wanted him to be good (as I do every player who pulls on the royal blue) and to say he has not been given the chance is absolute rubbish. Stephen Hughes has had more than enough opportunities to come into the Leicester team (e.g. through injuries, the sale of Gareth Williams etc), put in a performance or two and win a regular place. As he is (apparently) a creative player that we have lacked for several seasons, he has possibly been overindulged with more chances than others. Many, many times he has not only failed to deliver a good performance but actually looked disinterested and some way short of mediocre. Lack of ability is one thing, but a failure to even try is unforgivable. I sincerely hope we never see him in a Leicester shirt again and will raise a glass when he has gone.

Mort Posted 21 August 2007 Posted 21 August 2007 hughes is back training with us!The transfer to Hearts is off again! Useless Tw*t! Let him rot in the reserves... just so long as he never gets a sniff of the first team i dont give a sh*t frankly. To be honest he's an idiot, the likes of Rab are near the end of their career and dont have anything to lose by hanging on for "grim death" to a plum contract for a year or two longer, but younger players like Hughes and Maybury are potentially wrecking their future prospects by hanging around at a club where their not wanted and are not going to get anything other than reserve team football.

davieG Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 Leicester midfielder Stephen Hughes will seal a move away from the Walkers Stadium this month, according to his agent. The former Rangers youngster, who has been placed on the transfer list by boss Martin Allen, saw a move to SPL outfit Hearts fall through this week despite undergoing a medical. However, he is still expected to move on before the transfer window closes on August 31. Hughes' agent, John Colquhoun, told the Scotsman: "Stephen won't be staying at Leicester and I expect him to be somewhere else by September 1. "But I just don't know where - it's really hard to gauge." Link
