shen Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 DR, the national Danish broadcasting corporation, have cited a newspaper that Jimmy Nielsen, Aalborg BK's 29-year old goalkeeper and club captain, has agreed a deal with Leicester City subject to a medical. Apparently he has a fee release clause which enables Leicester to get him on the cheap. Nielsen has so far played 398 matches for Aalborg BK. He was linked to us last season as well, so maybe there's some substance in this. link (in Danish)

Leicfox Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Do you know if he is any good Shen? He won the 1998 and 2004 Danish Goalkeeper of the Year award. Nicknamed Casino-Jimmy
Jay Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 He won the 1998 and 2004 Danish Goalkeeper of the Year award.Nicknamed Casino-Jimmy I'm sure Stearman could introduce him to the casino in Leicester then they know him well there
shen Posted 3 June 2007 Author Posted 3 June 2007 Do you know if he is any good Shen? He's a nightmare when it comes to crosses but he's got lightning quick reactions and is a good shotstopper. AaB fans are generally sad that he's leaving, obviously because he's a good keeper at Danish league level, but mainly because he's "Mr. AaB". He's a one-club man and has been their club captain for quite some time now.

shen Posted 3 June 2007 Author Posted 3 June 2007 that bit doesnt sound too promisingthe big question? could he cut it in the championship? I definitely think he could. How much he would improve our current goalkeeper situation, is a different matter. Talent-wise he's on par with Casper Ankergren who did very well at Leeds this season.
shen Posted 3 June 2007 Author Posted 3 June 2007 Both Nielsen and AaB's football director did not want to comment on the story today. Usually an indication that there's something to the story.

Steven Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Haven't we already got three keepers that are good at shoot stopping but no good at crosses.
Mort Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Haven't we already got three keepers that are good at shoot stopping but no good at crosses. To be honest we dont have any "good" keepers... but their all better at shot stopping than dealing with crosses, i still say Lee Camp would be a very, very sensible signing (even if just on a season long loan).

If Jimmy Nielsen signs, you will get a very good goalkeeper. I have seen a lot of games with AaB, and Jimmy has always been a superb keeper. To be honest I'm still hoping he will stay with us - if not, you have got a new danish fan

sambucapleasechief Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Cant we just sign a keeper who can take crosses for once . Its been a while since we had one
davieG Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Cant we just sign a keeper who can take crosses for once . Its been a while since we had one Shilton
Fatbloke Posted 3 June 2007 Posted 3 June 2007 Agree with Steven. Hendo & Con rod are excellent shot stoppers but are poor on crosses, the fact of the matter is that niether of them are tall enough, as for a great cross taker for us, you don`t have to go that far back Davie, Flowers was simply superb !
