Head Honcho Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I've lost count of the number of references football manager has had this past couple of weeks. I haven't got it myself and doubt I ever will. Do those that have get all their player info from it and if so is it accurate? I'm not sure if it's just me but I find it a bit shallow to be told that "he's great on FM2007". Cue every teenager on here telling me how great so and so is on FM2007
Stevosevic Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 It does my head in. I play it some times but to recommend signings from a computer game is ridiculous.
Dames Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I really think we should sign Kerlon, he turns out awesome on the game and scores 45-50 goals a season for me.

Cue every teenager on here telling me how great so and so is on FM2007 Whilst I agree with that statement, The People that create FM use real life scouts to enable them to try and get an as close to real life player analysis as possible, there has been known to be kids on FM that have never been heard of and have been pretty amazing in real life, for example Saviola (Barcelona) was on the game at his first club (can't remember who) alot had never heard of him and now he's playing (bit part maybe) for one of the top teams in the world. Granted there are alot of mistakes on there, because diferent managers nurture youth in diferent ways (as in real life) but it is as close to realism as you will find!

fox123 Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 This is going to be imortalised in someone's sig one day. I realised when i'd pressed add reply I should have worded it slightly diferent, and then I had a call come through before I had time to edit
Daggers Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I reckon using FM07 stats in debates should be compulsory. For once and for all, it would put to an end any argument that Hammond is as good as Rooney...and would demonstrate that Dodds is only good enough for non-league half-time tea bars.
Milky Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Let's just say i first heard of Arjen Robben on championship manager, and several other top players aswell. If only Peter Taylor had used it we wouldn't be in this position now!

Milky Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Perhaps he did, I'm sure Akinbiyi would have shown up well on there. That's an interesting point actually, i may need to dust off an old version to take a look.
Dames Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I actually got Adriano on loan for city on LMA 2002. Oh if only
FilboFox Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 On the FM07 update I have a friend of mine on it. He goes to my school and is one of my best mates! He plays for Anderlecht, is 17 and is very good in real life but the statistics on the game aren't at all right... the say he has pace of around 11!?! He's amazingly fast... not as fast as me but still. You may not be able to find him though unless you take all players for Iceland. His name... Ragnar Snorasson ( I think thats how you spell his surname... but just search Ragnar and it will come up.)
Jon25747 Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I also have a couple of mates on there, but they are siht! Liam trotter, ed upson, Bjorn hermansson and oskar petrsson (not sure of spellings) they all have stats of 1 on alot of things! I think im better than a 1 on things!
mat_j101 Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I think it gets a lot of players pretty accurate, but there is no way you should say "we should buy someone cuz hes great on FM". And as a side note, i signed Aaron Lennon from Leeds when he was about 16 on one of them quite a few years back. He got awesome, ended up starting for England!! I think it is pretty bloomin awesome that a computer game can predict something like that! Heres one that didnt work out - Lionel Morgan. He became about the best left winger in england, and you could get him young and very cheap at the start. Ah well....

It's like fortune telling, say it about enough people and someone eventually will live up to it, people generally forget all the times it's proved to be utter bollocks.
Daggers Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I think we should sign me - I'm great on FM07 and would be a brilliant addition to the back-room staff.
davieG Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I think we should sign me - I'm great on FM07 and would be a brilliant addition to the back-room staff. Me to, I was a one to watch in FM63
Daggers Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Me to, I was a one to watch in FM63 That was the flick-2-kick version
potter3 Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 I would never say we should sign someone just because they're good on FM but it's pretty realistic. I'd heard of quite a few players on there before I did in real life like Anderson, Nani, the trio that signed for Real (Marcelo, Higuain & Gago) etc.
JoeyB Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Mine broke but I used to play it and I will get FM 08 Did your mum and dad forget to tell you it wasnt a frisby? I would never say we should sign someone just because they're good on FM but it's pretty realistic. I'd heard of quite a few players on there before I did in real life like Anderson, Nani, the trio that signed for Real (Marcelo, Higuain & Gago) etc. Me to FM is sexy. Totally agree

Hammond bags over 20 goals a season for me in the Championship and managed 15 or so Premiership goals last time out, even achieving player of the month and goal of the month status. Many of his starts came from midfield. He's awesome at counter attacking football and other manages highlighted him as a threat. Robbie Savage said he was a gem of a player. Make of it what you will.
Daggers Posted 4 June 2007 Posted 4 June 2007 Make of it what you will. I will. I have . Allen out! the man is obviously a fool to have missed his potential. I always said Elvis had hidden depths. Like a sea-based volcanic trench.
