Dames Posted 17 June 2007 Posted 17 June 2007 Could see him becoming another Gareth Williams. If he pulled his finger out then by all means get him here otherwise he's the type of player we need to avoid.
lookwhaticando Posted 17 June 2007 Posted 17 June 2007 We need players with more class and breeding Don't we already have some right breeders in our squad? Or did I mishear?
MPH Posted 17 June 2007 Posted 17 June 2007 Don't we already have some right breeders in our squad? Or did I mishear? decent player? yes. first teamer? not sure. good squad player? yeah, y not? need a bigger squad. just as long as he doesnt cost anything...
Ric Flair Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Prefer Jarvis and Cohen over Commons. But he's better than Porter and any other left winger we've had in the past few years.
The People's Hero Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Prefer Jarvis and Cohen over Commons. But he's better than Porter and any other left winger we've had in the past few years. Better than Porter without a doubt. Neither are good enough for a side looking to achieve promotion from this division though. Back up players at best.
Ric Flair Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Better than Porter without a doubt.Neither are good enough for a side looking to achieve promotion from this division though. Back up players at best. Commons has a good scoring record from left wing, scored a lot when Forest were relegated 3 seasons ago.
The People's Hero Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Commons has a good scoring record from left wing, scored a lot when Forest were relegated 3 seasons ago. Never been impressed with him at all when I've seen him play. Lazy, uninterested bottler. That said, I can't account for him in the vast number of games I haven't seen him play.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 i agreed with you up untill you mention jerome cambell reece pudding. he wouldnt be a good player for us. Jarvis and Murphy wil be great but i dont think we'd get Murphy. Maybe Murphy could be the equivalent for us - a quality, experienced player - as Merson was for Pompey???
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Maybe Murphy could be the equivalent for us - a quality, experienced player - as Merson was for Pompey??? why oh why would he come here though, we've got more chance of Bernard Manning doing stand-up at half-time vs blackpool!!
MBK Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 Better than Porter without a doubt.Neither are good enough for a side looking to achieve promotion from this division though. Back up players at best. Interesting to see what difference Porter will have to his game next season. I still think he can be a good squad player and maybe something more. The next season will define Weso, Porter and Stearman's career which unfortunately for the sentimentalists will probably prove Barton right.
J.Lisemore Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 Into (NOTW) leicester city are linked with coventry and wolves to land the 23 year old from rivals forest i know this season we are being linked with every player who plays professional football but what do you all think ? i would like him here...very good player if you ask me
morris1234 Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 why oh why would he come here though, we've got more chance of Bernard Manning doing stand-up at half-time vs blackpool!! that was low! funny but low!!
The People's Hero Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 No point signing him, the management would just tell him to stand, being marked, looking at his boots, apparently.
Kent Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 And then he could drop back to be a defensive player
The People's Hero Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 And then he could drop back to be a defensive player Defenders are pointless.. I mean, what goalscoring IMPACT IMPACT IMPACT do they have. You need 11 goal threats on the pitch. I'd say at least 6 creators and 5 goalscorers.
ronnup Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Slapped a 1.5 million price tag on apparently. What do we think? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/6247946.stm
Sir Fynwy Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Slapped a 1.5 million price tag on apparently. What do we thin? Isn't he out of contract?
Sir Fynwy Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 I thought so... From another site: "Kris Commons was offered a new contract by Nottingham Forest this month. His current contract expires at the end of June 2007. However Commons is understood to have rejected a new contract at Nottingham Forest according to the Sun." Can't see Forest getting £1.5m for him.
The Reverend Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 We would have to pay compensation i think as he is under 24? Though he didnt come through their academy i dont think. Tribunal?
Milan Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Yes, but they said they wanted 3 million for Gareth Williams and got 500,000.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Yes, but they said they wanted 3 million for Gareth Williams and got 500,000. IIRC Joe Kinnear said he wanted £5million. IMNHRC though.
Ric Flair Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Yes, but they said they wanted 3 million for Gareth Williams and got 500,000. They wanted £5 million for Williams. Commons went to Forest on a tribunal from Stoke a few years back and it cost them about £250,000 upfront I believe. They'd only get £400,000-750,000 for him from a tribunal, and that's being kind. I'm sure you only get about £40,000 for every year they've been at a club for training costs or is it only £14,000? Then they take in to account international appearances, etc. But not ability and transfer value, well it's not an essential criteria anyway. £400,000 should cover it.
