Audience with Martin Allen

I hope the negative no it all elements of the Trust dont try and bring down the night with a barage of negative or unrealistic almost demands. Lets hope that this Q & A will show MA that we are fully behind his decisions thus far and will be backing him in the stands.

Milan Mandaric's commitment to the existing shareholders was to gain promotion to the Premiership within 3 years, this vision was backed, this is only the first year so there should be no demands for instance success & no reason not to be totally behind Martin Allen's plans to achieve it. The first aim must be to get all the new players to gel.

The Trust had a realistic understanding of what the old board could fund & similarly of how Milan Mandaric would handle the first season by looking at his running of Pompey, so far that is as expected with the exception of no loan signings from larger clubs, which may come later in the pre-season build up or later during the season

I'd suggest that jibe would have been better aimed at the negative know-it-all elements on this forum.

Shame they won't be allowed to meet MA... :D

Our revered manager will be holding a Q&A session at Kilworth Springs golf club on Monday @ 7.30pm for 8.00pm. Independant supporters club are hosting the event at a cost of £5 for members and £7 for non members. Should be informative and entertaining ! I believe that tickets should be available on the door. Club tel no is 01858 575974

I'm surprised that Bason can walk at all with your tongue embedded so firmly into his crack :dunno:

I might go down to the Springs golf range and hit a few balls before nipping in for a listen!

Watching the Scottish Open's renewed my enthusiasm. Even if the endless wet weather has been a pain.

Shame Webster didn't really give it a good go yesterday, would have been nice to see him win.

Yeah he just took too many hits at the ball before they went in those little holes.

Not just a a footballing mastermind then.

Yes, I always hope he'll do well cos he was sponsored by my old club Ansty until quite recently and used to do the honours on presentation night.

They didn't show much of him on television but he'd be reasonably pleased with a top 10 finish I'd imagine. For such a small guy he sure whacks a golf ball.

I've likened Martin Allen to the late Bill Shankly and there really are similarities. Both larger than life, naturally quick witted and totally focused on football but MA's an intrigingly eccentric character in his own right - with real presence and the most refreshing approach to management you'll ever come across.

What a great night out. Over two hours of insights, questions and answers with not a diplomatic filter in sight. MA answered virtually every question with the most refreshing frankness. He even wrote some of em down so he didn't miss bits or look as if he was avoiding something.

There are no certainties in football but even if Leicester City were quoted 2000-1 for relegation with the bookies I wouldn't even risk a quid. Waste of money.

As for potential success, on a scale of 1 to 100 with MA, MM and the rest of the management team in charge I'd say 99 after last night. The focus is so pronounced.

A few insights from the MA comments:

* Losing a game "ruins my entire weekend".

* Mark DeVries is now known as "The Fridge" instead of Deep Freeze cos he's slimmed down so much.

* Leicester will never have a more committed chairman than MM or a more down to earth guy. "He wants to know about everything I do" and he'll sit up all night talking football.

* He's had the City dressing room altered cos it was too big and he felt too distant from the players.

* He expects every player to be in the centre circle at the end of matches - whatever. Hopefully it will be for a standing ovation but they have to earn that right. If it's not for an ovation he wants them there anyway to get whatever they deserve.

* He sprinted across the training ground to give Elvis Hammond a big hug - for crunching into a tackle. He clearly expects commitment in training and said: "Football is a hard game. Without broken noses and getting hurt we won't win anything."

* He made it clear there's a huge emphasis on developing a clan spirit and a tireless attention to detail in many directions.

* Louis Dodds missed the weekend friendlies because of injury. He spoke well of his performance in a previous training game.

* George Graham and his father had most influence on him as a manager.

* He still expects to strengthen "two areas" but had no comment that he'd want repeated on our search for a centre-forward.

* At the end he asked what fans expected from the team. Their answers will be on posters around the dressing room.

What a great raffle prize there was too. One fan won the chance to get an inside taste of the matchday atmosphere and routine at Saturday's friendly against Notts County.

He would join the manager two hours before kick-off and witness every aspect of the build up and aftermath, even to the point of joining MA on the bench.

Martin Allen clearly carries a banner for honesty, team ethic and hard work and those principles were evident by what he put into making last night so memorable. He gave it the same 100% he obviously expects from everyone around him and in everything they do.

There was nothing remotely sterile about the occasion - the evening was a statement...about the massive changes that have been affected at Leicester City and a rousing statement of intent.

Thanks- enjoyed that post.

Hope you enjoyed the evening as much as it sounds like you did.

I was there too and that was a perfect description of the evening by Thracian.

Was a very good night and well worth the entrance fee.

Agreed- MA is most certainly a character in his own right. you can see that he is trying to build a team or 'squad' as he prefers it to be

looks like he has got a solid backroom team and was very pleased with the positive things he had to say about MM.

You can tell just from listening from him that he is obviously not going to accept anything less than 100%, and any non triers will be out on their a*se

Love it what he said about kishishev 'the guy has played 7,000 times for bulgaria'!! made me chuckle

Did 'anyone' aggresively demand to know ermm query whether Gradel, Dodds and King would form the key elements of the team this year.

No. :D But he did say that eight of the under 19's are "good" players.

He also remarked - seemingly tongue in cheek - that "Mattock" would be captain. He expected "11 captains on the field" and I think the point he was making was that it could therefore as easily be Mattock as anyone else.

Incidentally, expect Ryan Beswick to be left-back at Hinckley tonight. Beswick was a winger, sometimes understated, who nevertheless invariably made something happen with his quick and clever final cross or pass when playing for the Academy. Anyway, he was used in an unfamiliar full-back role on Saturday and will likely be there again tonight.

Its an interesting development and a bit worrying for Alan Sheehan I'd say although he's in the squad tonight.

Sheehan played left wing against Quorn, had a positive first half and made the opening goal with his deep cross to Mark DeVries.

But second half he carelessly lost possession and would have given a goal away but for Quorn playing themselves offside. It summed the lad up in some ways. He consistently supplements attacks and creates goals but has lapses of concentration that can be costly.

MA remarked last night that players were now starting to arrive earlier and stay on later to work on their game. Sheehan should be one of them. Working on his first touch, his sharpness and that vital concentration.

He said eight of them?

Do we have any idea who we think these are?

Mattock is obviously going to be one of them. I expect Gradel is too, judging by his recent involvement.

Not Dodds, as he's not under 19. Probabley Sappleton as he signed him. King McKay Odihambo Magunda Chambers make up the rest by my money.
