We need to regroup in time for the Oval - and that means bye bye Tremlett and Anderson and bringing in Hoggard and Broad, both of whom would have taken a stack of wickets on this pitch. Ditching Bell and putting in Shah or Bopara might be a decent move too. The selectors have messed up big-time (just like they did on the Ashes tour) and have a lot of grovelling to do.

A couple of changes wouldn't go amiss for the final game - Broad to bat at eight and Shah/Bopara as already suggested Both sides need to get a grip behaviour-wise. If you're going to sledge, sledge like an Aussie - not all this jelly beans and shoulder barging bollocks.

I think Flintoff should have been down the order some time ago. If they could ever get themselves fit, Freddie and Simon Jones would add great batting depth to the England line-up. Factor in Broad in 12-24 months and you've got a bloody good tail from 8-10 (although I'm not sure where that leaves Harmison and Hoggard, assuming Monty is now a cert at no.11). Maybe that's a bit OTT? If Strauss gets the bullet, who would you like to see open with Cook?
