blacknight_fox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 just thought id point out from what ive seen of Hayes in my eyes he's no way near someone that we want to be starting every game, hes Shite!
Cobbo Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I would have a go with (for the Pompey and start of the season); --------------------Nielsen Chambers---N'Gotty--McAuley---Mattock Newton---Kishishev---Clemence--Hume ------------Campbell---Fryatt Nielsen because he's just gonna play, but he did not impress me in the 45 mins I have seen him. Hume to fill in on the left until we hopefully sign someone - he works very hard and he'd love cutting in and hitting some pearlers I'm sure. Me and the Scow were talking about it the other day, thinking of it being a bit like McSheffery's role at Brum last year..scored a lot of goals from the left.

Wouldn't say he was shite. Don't think he's ready for first team football yet, maybe a few sub appearences. He is still only 19 though.
FleckneyFox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Wheres little Eric Odhiambo, What a player, What a name, What a legend he has to be in the team

I agree, I think Hume would play that role really well, playing from the left and coming inside. I think MA would have tried it out earlier if he was thinking about it though.
filbertway Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Logan N Gotty Magunda Stearman Beswick McKay Weso Hammond De Vries Hume Chmabers
Ben Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Neilson Kaebi N'Gotty Kisnorbo Chambers Newton Clemence Kishishev Porter Hume Campbell

filbertway Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 You're insane in the membrane maaaaan. Good point, swap de vries with gradel.
davieG Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Am I the only one still concerned about right midfield. Seems we've got Kaebi, Newton & Gradel Gradel has potential but has never played a first team game. Kaebi is a complete unknown as far as English football is concerned, he's going to take time to settle in and I don't think we can rely on him being an instant success. Newton has never really impressed me he's very hot and cold and more cold than hot for my liking, even Allen wasn't entirely convincing when offering him a one year contract.
J.Lisemore Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 That's what I think it will be too. Apart from Nielsen who I would swap for Logan I think that's our strongest team. dont ya think we are all missing the point that porter was near enough our best player last season

I'd be much more worried about the left side. But I can see where you're coming from. However I still that feel that we wont have many problems out there. Newton didn't do bad last year, in a poor side. I'd think he'd want ti impress Allen early, as you said he didn't seem overly impressed with Newton.
Geo V Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Lets hope that we start the game with the team that will take on Blackpool. Kisnorbo and the rest can come on later in the game! It`ll be a test as they have some good players but bring on the bell ringing inbreds.
Nod.E Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 I'd start Logan over any of them any day without a doubt. Nielsen looks like a walking disaster from what I've seen (although I'm prepared to give him more time) and I don't rate Henderson at all. Do you find yourself amusing or something?
filbertway Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 dont ya think we are all missing the point that porter was near enough our best player last season Erm, I wouldn't say he was.Kisnorbo, Hume, McAuley, Nils and weso were all better. IMO IMO IMO IMODo you find yourself amusing or something? I agree with him

filbertway Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 whos him? me or joe.? Joe. Although I do rate Hendo slightly. I just think Logans got more chance of improving as he's younger. If I'm honest, ideally I would rather us bring in a better keeper. However it looks like Nielsen is going to start as number 1, I think Logan will be starting before our 10th game though. Nielsen just doesn't look very good.

As for hendo, hes a good keeper, not the best, but the best at the club by a country mile. Well, that is from what ive heard about Nielsen, aparantly hes awful aswell but i havent seen him to date. I agree, we do need a new keeper, Hendo would make excellent cover to a better keeper, but for now, get hendo between the sticks as hes a brilliant shot stopper and not drastic at every other aspect and also i cant see us bringing in a new keeper after already bringing in Nielsen and also considering we already have hendo, nielsen, logan, and douglas... 5 keepers is a bit OTT.

As many great saves as hendo makes, he makes a mistake to counter act it though. I know Logan looks clumsy at times in what he does, but I reckon he does a good job, decent shot stopper, has a great kick on him (when used well). He does looka bit suspicious on crosses but that can be nerves as much as anything, as a keeper i's easier to not come for the ball if your nervous about making a mistake. If he plays more games his confidence will start to grow and he'll develop into a better goalkeeper. I'd say confidence is more important for goalkeepers than any other position, theres a lot of pressure, if you make a mistake then it usually ends up in the oposition scoring. That's why I would play Logan anyway. Stil l I would rather get rid of 2 of the GK's and get a top quality keeper in like kiely.
