Simi Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I hope so. But going on previous evidence, there's cause for concern. I can see where you're coming from. Although anything that Mandaric comes out and says will just be scrutinized into something along the lines of "Allen Out". That's just how the media work.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Exactly... making firm predictions about his future is a bit daft at such early doors. The first 24 hours haven't passed yet, so it's too early to say one way or another what could happen. For all any of us know, he could be playing against Plymouth at the weekend... seems unlikely, but it's not impossible. He could easily still be in hospital by that time. I'm not saying he will ever play football again... nobody knows that right now (I imagine the doctors don't actually know at this point, either). I'm not ruling it out completely either... I'm waiting for someone to tell us what's going on exactly. It's clearly a very serious incident, but for people to say they're "pretty sure" that he won't play football again strikes me as a bold prediction without knowing much of the facts as yet. I'm waiting for news and hoping the lad gets better. That's all. I think the tone of most peoples' posts is that he and we shouldn't be thinking about him playing for us again at the moment - just hoping that he makes a recovery.
THE MAGICIAN Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Anyone who assumes Clarke will play again is a little deluded as well though, there's not any players I can recall that have suffered a double heart attack and carried on playing football afterwards. KANU
Sir Fynwy Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 KANU Not a chance, Portsmouth are looking to get rid of Nugent because Kanu's form is so good.
Geo V Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 KANU He had a whole in the heart if memory serves me but that was identified when he was a kid and treated. Obviously it must have been tiny to be able to be managed but Kanu never had an incident where he collapsed and nearly died like Clarke. This situation is going to be career threatening for sure until the doctors come out and say that they are 100% confident that he wont get a repeat of this situation. I cant see him playing again to be honest.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Wasn't it Heart Failure not Heart Attack, they are different. Heart attacks are a hell of a lot more painfull, I think.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 KANU Not a chance, Portsmouth are looking to get rid of Nugent because Kanu's form is so good.
Charnwood Norris Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 He won't play again if it's an irregular heart beat.
Marcoos Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 There are many scenarios. My daughter had a hole in her heart and a narrowing in a valve. They can patch the hole with a gore-tex type patch and also insert a 'balloon' into the valve which when inflated widens the valve and when removed the valve remains wider. Both of which (as in her case) proved successful an she will lead a normal life. It all depends what caused the problem as to whether this can be fixed or if it will always remain a problem. Glenfield has a good cardiac departmentand so is in a good area to be treated. All the best Clive
James. Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 This silence has made me uneasy for awhile and now it's looking almost ominous. I've banged on about how utterly ridiculous it would be to sack Allen but the longer this goes on the more worried I get. Milan is an eccentric and I'm starting to almost expect to see that eccentricity sooner than I hoped in the form of Allen's departure. And now it's on Sky News. F**k.
Leicester Lass Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Does anyone think Ric Flair knew something we didn't? <_<
Joe. Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Milan will lose a lot of respect if Allen is sacked.
Simi Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I'm going to sort of go back on what I said earlier. Mandaric really needs to really clear this situation now, sort the ****er out.
Smudge Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 What are you trying to stir up?No problems anywhere, stop worrying.

Webbo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 What are you trying to stir up?No problems anywhere, stop worrying. I wondered why Barton wasn't on here giving us some more of his inside information.
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I wondered why Barton wasn't on here giving us some more of his inside information. One copy book that's now well and truly blotted
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 ...and not the only one... Yea, but you can't help yourself.
Micky Ruddle Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 God help Jon Rudkin. He's taking charge down at Plymouth, if he loses, good luck in finding a new job pal.
