Manager Rumours

Are you trying to be funny or are you incorrectly correcting something that is correct.

I like the sentance, it has many layers.

No, no

I just couldn't remember what it was that Fox Moulder used to say.

My memory of the x-files was that it seemed really good until one day it just became rubbish. Maybe Fox over used his catchphrase or found there wasn't anything else he wanted to believe in? I don't know?

Right. Well it's Mulder.

And you are quite correct with your assements RE the X-files.

And I think he said it once or twice, not alot.

On a side note what do we think to Fox Mulder as manager, he could open an X-file case on how Elvis Hammond became a proffesional footballer.

Yes, Mulder could be good manager for us. He's a bit of Roeder type though.

I think the case of 'how Elvis became a professional football' is already closed, filed next to 'how Levein became manager of Leicester City'

But on a side note...Gillian Anderson, she used to be hot!

Tony Pulis according to a credible source from another forum.

Thoughts?

Stoke fans want him out.

Didn't milan sack him at pompey?

Posted
Why? To be honest unless we're getting Burnley, Davies, Jewell or Tigana then there isnt anyone out there any better?! :(

Edit: I don't actually want Warnock, just putting it into perspective.

Because, sorry to say it but I'd much rather have an awful manager than Warnock anywhere near the club I love.

Frankly give me Roeder, Reid, Megson or even all three of them with Big Ron and David Pleat as assistants in some management team from hell over Warnock.

Yes, I believe he did!! Not that, that will stop Mandaric.

He was allegedly shown around the club by Mandaric yesterday.

Hardly gets you on the edge of your seat. I'd as soon have Beaglehole as him. What's wrong with Dave Penney, Mike Newell, George Burley except they probably wouldn't wanna come?. Mandaric should eat humble pie - it would do him good - and get Martin Allen back.

Pulis doesn't excite me at all, his record is distinctively average. He's the sort of man i'd have liked after Levein had left. The sort of man who can get a team ticking over nicely, that's not in danger of ever challenging for promotion.

Mandaric wants a man who has experience in this league, Penney sadly doesn't, some club should give him the chance though as he's a great young manager. Newell has gone off the radar, i'm unsure how he'd get on with Milan and he's not very adventurous in the transfer market. Burley would be perfect, he knows the foreign market well as well and has promotions and experience that we need. But can we get him?

As for Allen, if he can't work with our owner then there's not a lot that can be done. It's a shame, but i'm yet to see what he's achieved that should make us regret it.

Well he has competed at the top end of the table through most of his short managerial career and that's more that can be said for us despite a string of managers. As for what he did for Leicester - ninth in four matches, our highest position for years.

I don't care if he can't work with the owner - in fact that might be better. Cos MM could give him the budget, let him get on with managing and sod off back to America if he can't help the bloke instead of undermining him.

But for all Allen's good work at other clubs, not one of them achieved promotion. Obviously i'd have been delighted for us to even get in the play-offs under Allen this season, but if MA has a history of falling at the final hurdle then it's not going to be good enough for what we want anyway.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here, as I think Allen has done fairly well in his managerial career. But he's gone and I wish him all the best in the future. If he can't work with our ownder then he's not going to succeed here, whether you agree with that or not is your perogative. Mandaric is the owner and will be for quite a while, we have to accept that.

I know you're playing Devil's Advocate and I realise MA's not coming back. But I wish MM had thought about the mess he was creating before he prompted another upheaval within the club. Cos unless he's going to pull some extraordinary bunny from the bag - and I see no precedent for that - then it's like he's volunteered us for a game of Russian Roulette but with four or five bullets in the six chambers.

I know we have Ashley and James but who are the other 4?

Pulis is a fire-fighter. I think that's how he described himself, even, just a few seasons ago at Plymouth. He goes to clubs that are a bit ropey and he keeps them safe. He went to Plymouth and excelled in safety. He went back to Stoke and restored order.

He doesn't have a track record of promotion (or promotion attempts) which makes you doubt his candidacy. Why would Mandaric go for Pulis?

I suppose he is experienced in this league... shame he doesn't yet know how to get out of it. :ermm:

Interestingly enough, he was Sacked from Stoke before he joined Plymouth. The circumstances? He had just signed a new contract two weeks before getting sacked. So... he's an ideal candidate for Mandaric, he's used to be raved about and then redundant all within the space of a few short weeks. :D

Im not trying to advocate his appointment as I think he is very ordinary as a manager but in his defence, the financial situation at Stoke isnt great and he is used to bringing in about 6 loan players a season to try to keep things ticking over.

I don't see why people are jumping on Pulis saying he would be crap. His Stoke sides always seem to grind out wins and yes I agree the football may be dull but with a small warchest he has managed to make Stoke play-off contenders last season and probably this season too.
