Ric Flair Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 I don't see why people are jumping on Pulis saying he would be crap. His Stoke sides always seem to grind out wins and yes I agree the football may be dull but with a small warchest he has managed to make Stoke play-off contenders last season and probably this season too. Ask Stoke fans what they think of him. And they've hardly been spoilt with good managers in the past to cloud their opinions.

He's an average Championship manager, no more.
The People's Hero Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 He's not a winner. He's an also-ran. Pulis? Bugger off.

Dan I've always thought of you as knowing very little. However after your display over the last two days this had no gone to next to nothing. If it was down to you we'd have Stephen Crainey playing at left back, Danny Cadamateri partnering Clive Platt up front, and Tony Pulis as our manager. Think about that for a second. Reflect if you will.
lookwhaticando Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Tony Pulis as our manager. Micky Adams more likely.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Micky Adams more likely. Indeed his love for Mickeh is also deeply disturbing.

Reflect if you will. Well I think you should reflect too, Crainey has finally found his feet under a half-decent manager unlike DW at Leeds, hence making at least one team of the week already. After our problems at left-back already I still can't beleive I'm getting ridiculed for this. Clive Platt has made a reasonable start, scoring on his debut and offers another dimension and Cadamarteri would be a perfect partner for him, runnign onto knock ons. It's all falling into place, with Micky or Tony in charge, promotion is a given. Micky Adams more likely. Indeed his love for Mickeh is also deeply disturbing. Great manager.

Babylon Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 I'd be amazed if it was Pullis, MM has said several times including in the interview yesterday that he wants someone who has done the job that needs doing here. Getting promotion the the premier!!! Pullis hasn't done that. If it's not a manager from another club, and If the stories of Jewell and Warnock turning it down are true. then it will be Megson IMO.

Agreed on all points, Babs. Monsieur Mégson for my money. Don't want him, just think it will be.

You could also say that about Brian Little. I think if it was Megson we'd know by now.
Matt Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 How is a story from the sun or any of the tabloids concrete evidence? News flash they all print any old cr@p. Yeah like Milan buying the club? Or Milan getting the sack? Or any of the other managers linked with us? Getting sick people saying "ah its only the sun" or "the tabloids write crap" fair enough they do, and fair enough something read in the paper is not concrete evidence but whenever the rumour is something good people are all over it like a rash then when it's something they disagree with its the "ah its only from a tabloid newspaper" excuse...
Babylon Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 You could also say that about Brian Little. I think if it was Megson we'd know by now. Errrr no.... Little last got someone promoted to the premier 13/14 seasons ago. Megson did it in the seasons 01/02, 03/04, which is exactly my point. Out of all the available managers he has the most recent success. IF like I said Jewell and Warnock have said no. Why would we know by now, with MM on holiday and the fact we have supposedly been turned down by those two. We could easily we working our way down a list of 4 getting no as an answer. This is in no way an advert for getting him, he'd be well down my list.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 I always get scared when Babylon posts in these threads, nervously opening them and dreading seeing that Bob Hazell and/or Bocadillo have heard on the grapevine that Dr Jozef Venglos is going to be unveiled the following day.

I know who the new manager is going to be, I've sworn to keep his identity secret. I've promised Dave Jones i'd not say his name.
