Simi Posted 8 September 2007 Posted 8 September 2007 Right boys and girls, from what I've been told from a couple of sources, this afternoon Billy Davies has resigned. Or is close to it.One who told me told me about Paul Ince going to MK Dons a few weeks before it happened, the other, I'm not too sure about. Basically, Neil Warnock or Paul Jewell is already lined up to replace Billy, more than likely going to be Warnock as Gadsby (our chairman) loves him!! :@ Apparently, you went for Billy last season and he wouldn't cost anything in compensation therefore likely to go to you lot. Not very happy about this at all but I can see it happening. On current record, I can't see Billy lasting very long at your place. He's a quality manager who will get you results but he aint half fiery!! So he'd probably be sacked before the press conference. Anyways, thats all the news I've got for you now, take it as you like, might never happen but I have a sneaky suspicion that it might I can vouch for the Ince rumour, as you told me at the same time, that was spot on. We did apparently approach Davies last year, but he seemed to solve his differences with your board, but sounds like things haven't improved. He definitely gets results, attractive or not.

Joe. Posted 8 September 2007 Posted 8 September 2007 I'd happily take Davies so from our point of view it'd be nice if he did resign from Derby.

Matt Posted 8 September 2007 Posted 8 September 2007 Davies to switch Derby with Leicester ?Several English tabloids reports today that Billy Davies is close to the axe at Derby. But so far the Derby board is backing their manager. Davies took Derby up to the Premiership in his first season in charge at Pride Park, but life has been difficult to cope with at the highest level. If Davies gets the axe or steps down, Leicester could be interested in his services. Davies has a playing career behind him at Leicester. He played only six league games at Filbert Street, before returning to Scotland and continue his career with Dunfirmline. Davies has been one of a group of Scottish managers that at the moment is building a great reputation south of the border. Sir Alex Ferguson is of course in a class by himself, but other managers such as David Moyes is also representing Scotland with style. Leicester City is at the moment without a manager, and their former player Davies, could be an option, if things doesn't work out for him at Derby. Peter Reid and Adrian Heath is today mentioned as possible candidates. So far there is just rumours and a number of names in the hat, and Davies could be a target. http://soccervoice.com/n070934.htm

Come on Milan - you've got a lot to make up to the fans. This would be a decent start.

Tevez Posted 8 September 2007 Posted 8 September 2007 Can we clear this please, did Reid have an interview on friday?
davieG Posted 8 September 2007 Posted 8 September 2007 Can we clear this please, did Reid have an interview on friday? We can't clear anything about anyone, everything you've read or heard about who our next manager will be is conjecture, rumour, gossip and has no credibility. Until you see a public statement from the club or something on the website, and even that is debateable as they put stuff on and then take it off believe nothing.
Phlashman Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 If we get Davis then he should be a saluted as a hero! Sure he took our arch-enemies up but it looks like he's doomed them to one of the worst seasons ever (on present form 8 points and a total GD of -92!) and maybe even land them with Warnock!
Steven Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Gillingham manager Jepson resigns so he would be available. From the BBC.
Master Fox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Gillingham manager Jepson resigns so he would be available. From the BBC. Why not? Get him in
Webbo Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Says in today's MoS that the smart money's on Peter Reid.
Eastern Fox Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Says in today's MoS that the smart money's on Peter Reid. Sounds like bollocks to me, why would Mandaric want someone with such a appalling record? He's hasn't been successful at any club for 6 years+.
Blue Bob Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Sounds like bollocks to me, why would Mandaric want someone with such a appalling record? He's hasn't been successful at any club for 6 years+. I think that one thing is for certain - that it is difficult to second guess what goes through Milans mind. The newspapers will try this until a new manager is appointed and then they will start the campaign of how long he will last in the job. I do think that Milan will try to appoint someone who he genuinely believes will get us promoted, many things have been said about Milan but he does want success - even if it is so he can sell the club at a massive profit, without a good manager he wont get success, no success equals no profit.

I know it's still early days in the season but it will need a fecking good manager to get us promoted automatically from here and as we all know the playoff's are a lottery so Milan is going to need to pull a master stroke IMO ,either that or work a miracle!
Simon Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Jeez. The amount of crap being spouted from all four corners of the media about the manager's job is getting tiresome. I just want Milan to get on and appoint someone now, this is getting on my nerves. For what it's worth though, I think we'll get someone in whose not currently at a club because of the timescales involved in compo etc. if Milan wants someone in by the QPR game.
Tevez Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 My Money is on Beaglehole and Rudkin until the end of the season.
