England squad

The thing with Russia and Israel, is that they've only got to come here and get draws to fook you over. It's alright writing them off to win, but you score few enough goals in international games as it is, with multiple key players missing and playing against two very professional, very well organized sides - I'd be concerned.

That Russia side, especially, will be difficult to beat. Anyone who's willing to write off a Gus Hiddink national side is having a giraffe.

Bang on. Lots of England fans took home qualifying wins under Eriksson for granted.

Gerrard shouldn't be risked against Israel, maybe against Russia though

If Israel are going to defend, why not just play 2 or 3 at the back and get as many bodies forward as possible.

lol lol lol

That made me giggle. You were joking, right?

I disagree, Isreal are mediocre at best IMO therefore we should be publically confident of beating them comfortably. Benayoun has already declared that they have come to defend and I can't see who will pose a threat in their squad. As for breaking their resolve down, we have all seen that Ben Haim has been a right old donkey for Chelsea so far, just look at the Torres goal.

Israel are alot better than people give them credit for and have usefull players such as Benayoun, Badir and Yaniv Katan who can and will do damage if given the chance. They wont play as defensive as they are making out, what kind of idoit gives away his tactics before the game?? They'll attempt to catch us on the break.

Medicore they may be but we've been worse than medicore at some points during these qualifying games. And look at the amount of players we have out!

I'd like to think we will win but I reckon it will be narrow Israel may even get the draw they're after.

Russia of course are a completley different kettle, and have a whole host of good, Champions league experinced players and one of the best international managers around.

Hopefully nob head can actually do something right for once, as we really do need six points and neither of these teams will be easy to beat.

Is Toto Tamuz playing for Israel? If he is, I'd like to think Toto Tamuz will be the star player and he'll score. If he isn't, disregard this post completely.

:appl: Impressive there, Finners. Though in all seriousness, I'd like to know your views on Toto Tamuz. You seem a knowledgable guy. You know your stuff. Enlighten me.

We just aren't going to win I can feel it.

Israel defending for 90 minutes doesn't sound good to me.

If we go 1-0 up and we mid-way through second half I can pretty much guarantee we'll be defending for our lives. It'll be a torture to watch :nono:

I know probably about as much as you, Jamie. That he's another next-big-thing, good-on-football-manager striker that scores pretty goals in YouTube videos. Get to a lot of Beitar's home games, do you? Had a good look at him, have you?

If he plays, you'll see how he does against a Premiership quality defense. It's rare of me to say a good word in favour of England, but I doubt he'll run them entirely ragged.
