Koke Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 McLaren wont change shit. His job is on the line here and he'll go with the tested (but failed) combination of Lampard and Gerrard (if fit) and SWP and J. Cole on the wings.
Lord Nibblington Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 McLaren wont change shit. His job is on the line here and he'll go with the tested (but failed) combination of Lampard and Gerrard (if fit) and SWP and J. Cole on the wings. I'll be suprised if he starts with SWP. Providing they're all fit, he'll pick Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves and Joe Cole as his midfield 4.
Father Ted Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 I'll be suprised if he starts with SWP.Providing they're all fit, he'll pick Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves and Joe Cole as his midfield 4. And who is the other winger to J.Cole?
Alexikokopops Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 And who is the other winger to J.Cole? He'll stick Gerrard on the right with Hargreaves and Lampard in the middle.
Lord Nibblington Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 He'll stick Gerrard on the right with Hargreaves and Lampard in the middle. Exactamundo. Or some other phrase to signify agreement.
lildave3 Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 He'll stick Gerrard on the right with Hargreaves and Lampard in the middle. I wouldn't mind that too much tbh.
Flynny Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 If Lampard's fit: ------------------James----------------- Richards - Terry - Ferdinand -A. Cole ---------------Hargreaves-------------- -------Gerrard----------Lampard------ ----SWP--------Owen--------J.Cole--- If not: ------------------James----------------- Richards - Terry - Ferdinand -A. Cole ---------------Hargreaves-------------- Bentley---------------------------J.Cole ----------------Gerrard----------------- ---------Owen-----------Defoe-------- Not liking the look of that 2nd lineup up front. I guess maybe one like the 1st but with Carrick might be better.
Joe. Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 We need a keep Flynny James Richards Terry Ferdinand Cole Wright Phillips Gerrard Hargreaves Cole Owen Defoe
MPH Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 Quite pleased Ashley Young is in the england squad.. he's been playing really well- he is in my dream team
Joe. Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Hargreaves is out. Lampard's out. Gerrard's possibly out. They're saying they may give Gerrard the painkilling injection that will allow him to play which would be handy, but then that still leaves a spare position in the middle. Cue Michael Carrick <_<

Dames Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Owen an Defoe can't play together, their styles are too similar. Personally i'd play Heskey and Owen regardless of what the media say about Heskeys scoring record he was the one always setting Owen up. Right now we need proven international quality and Defoe and Johnson have not proven themselfs.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 We could be basically out of Euro 2008 within the next 7 days, scary, even scarier when you consider the injuries, the fact that we've got an absloute moron in charge, and a team that is publically under estimating Israel.
Tommeh Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 --------James------ richards, terry, rio, cole swp, gerrard, carrick, young -------owen, bruno------
Joe. Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Nothing wrong with Carrick. Him and Barry in the middle if Hargreaves and Gerrard don't make it. There's everything wrong with Carrick when he puts on an Eng;and shirt. He's awful.
Geo V Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 We may get lucky over the next 7 days. Sometimes we rely too much on the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney and they rarely reproduce their club form at International level. Some of the fringe International players may come in and make a real good impression. Lets hope they do. BTW, this would be the team based on the Opta ratings so far this season.... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_2712483,00.html Steve Harper (Newcastle United) Micah Richards (Manchester City), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Anthony Gardner (Tottenham Hotspur), Ashley Cole (Chelsea)Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough)Emile Heskey (Wigan Athletic), Andrew Johnson (Everton)
filbertway Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Squad in full to face Israel (September 8th) and Russia (September 12th): Robinson (Tottenham), James (Portsmouth), Carson (Aston Villa), Richards (Man City), P Neville (Everton), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Campbell (Portsmouth), A Cole (Chelsea), Shorey (Reading), Brown (Man Utd), Barry (Aston Villa), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Bentley (Blackburn), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Man Utd), Lampard (Chelsea), Carrick (Man Utd), Downing (Middlesbrough), J Cole (Chelsea), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Smith (Newcastle), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Tottenham), A Young (Aston Villa). James Richards Terry Cole SWP Bentley Carrick Young Cole Hesky Owen Beautiful
filbertway Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 I wouldn't risk Gerrard absolutely no need against Israel, not fair on him risking his future career for one game which we should have more than enough quality to win.
lildave3 Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 I wouldn't risk Gerrard absolutely no need against Israel, not fair on him risking his future career for one game which we should have more than enough quality to win. I agree completely.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 and a team that is publically under estimating Israel. I disagree, Isreal are mediocre at best IMO therefore we should be publically confident of beating them comfortably. Benayoun has already declared that they have come to defend and I can't see who will pose a threat in their squad. As for breaking their resolve down, we have all seen that Ben Haim has been a right old donkey for Chelsea so far, just look at the Torres goal.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 A team with the intention of defending, and requiring us to break them down? I can see that going well.
Joe. Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 It's going to be 0-0 I know it. If they're going to defend deep all game we've got no chance. We just can't break down teams when they play that way.
