Stuliasz Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 We let their keeper run through and score from what I gather.
Head Honcho Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Would this be a sensible tactic? Offer them thanks for the Clarkey abandonment? 0-1 and then start playing?Would it bollocks!
Ultra Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 From what I heard on Five Live it happened because it seems someone at our club felt guilty about the events of three weeks ago. We shouldn't have felt guilty at all. The score in the first game was irrelevant. If we had been two goals up would the scum have let us score twice tonight to make things "fair"? Would they hell! Mandaric escaped from jail tonight. I'm not convinced he'll always be that lucky.
Thracian Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Mandaric did the honourable thing. Credit where its due.
Dames Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 We won. We did something which was only fair in my eyes. If the tables were turned we'd be crying out for the same situation.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 19 September 2007 Author Posted 19 September 2007 Very sporting gesture. I forsaw the future once again. I have predicted half time abandonments in the past a day before the match. I am clairvoyant. Palm and tea leaf readings will commence tomorrow at 9.30am. All proceeds to the Megson Fighting Fund to find a decent forward. I predcit a bright future for Megson, by the way. Once he brings in some midfielders who are comfortable on the ball (shame about Weso tonight), some defenders who don't panic every time a looping cross comes into the box and some half decent attackers who know how to trap, head and ht the ball with venon towards goal.
BigGibbo Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I was well impressed when we did this 'cos i didn't want them to have any excuses when we beat them but i was the only one clapping most were booing which i wasn't to chuffed about
Darkzzz_ Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Im glad we gave them the goal. It sheds a good light for our club...... Also it shows that even though we gave them a headstart they still couldnt beat us... Get in...
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Because it's just never going to happen. Ha hahahahahahahahaha aha haa hahah ha

If they ( Milan, Megson or who ever ) wanted to do the right thing then F*****G tell me and everyone else in the Country who had a bet on the game that they were going to do it. Before anyone replies and says well if we new who was going to score we could all have had a bet on that instead, I know that's not possible but we could have put through our own net and everyone's 1st goal scorer bets and other bets would have still been valid along with us knowing what they were going to do.

Couldn't agree with you anymore. One of my bets was Sheehan 1st goal, and IMO, that should be a winning bet. Who do I complain to when Ladbrokes refuse to payout? I had McGinlay to win his singles match in the Ryder Cup. On the 18th he was 1up, he took one less shot to get to the green, found out we only needed a half to win the Ryder Cup so did a "sporting gesture" and shook hands/took the half, and in the process f**ked up my winning bet. It isn't right and those that make the decisions should be made an example of my their respective sporting authorities.
Leonisco Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I'm glad we did it as now we've got even more to gloat about, we gave them a free goal and they still couldn't beat us! When it happened I was one of the people booing, I suppose it was the sporting thing to do but I doubt they'd have done it for us. Made it a more interesting game, though.

Maybe it is for the bookies to now be sporting and pay out on the result minus the forest goal. I doubt many punters would have put a bet down on the Forest keeper as the first to score. I dont think that they could have told fans before the game what they were doing partly from the betting point of view - imagine the odds Forest keeper first to score and City winning 3-2 odds somewhere around 300-1 I would guess. But was it that sporting a gesture - Forest would have had a game plan which 2 minutes before kick off we completely upset and probally distracted their team for the start of the match. Its done know at least I can enjoy rubbing it in with Forest fans!!

Well done to you guys last night, was a great gesture, although i said that i dont think you should do it about 2 weeks ago because if we had of gone through with having the one goal lead then it would have seemed like a hollow victory because im sure any other club(maybe excluding sheff utd under warnock) would have done the same as forest on the night of the original tie so well done to you guys

Joe. Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I'd just like to apologise to Chrisshaw for being so sure this wouldn't happen I didn't think sportsmanship like that happened in today's game. It's fair to say I was very shocked when it happened. It was definitely morally right, and in the end it paid off for us thankfully.

Yes, you needed 135 minutes to beat a team from a lower league, who were arguably the better performers on both nights. Well done

Dobieforthefoxes Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 And where did it get you? Through to the next round? in the long run its probably for the best. We want to get a few wins under our belts with the resultant increase in confidence and being hammered by Villa next week wouldn't have helped much

Just so long as we don't make a habit of it! Bloody good last 2 mins all the same.
The Stig Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Why did we let them score Its called sportsmanship, little of it in football, if we had lost 2 - 1 I would have still said it was the right descision.
