Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 unrelated I know....but I really really wanna see Kaebi and Ferreira feature on saturday (one will do!), but I suppose we'll sacrifice genuine attacking flair for the defensive outlook of Sheehan/Chambers (supposing Hume doesn't start RM)
Thracian Posted 20 September 2007 Author Posted 20 September 2007 Clem can play the holding role so why would we necessarily need another more defensively minded midfielder? Anyway, Im not sure about King as I have never seen him play. If he was that good surely he would have made the bench for us this season? Kishishev is a decent player but from what I have seen was behind the pace of his team mates. I dont know if its father time catching up on him or what as it was only a few months ago that Leeds fans were raving about him as Premiership class after a loan spell with them. Stearman is an option I suppose but doesn't convince me and Levi would be clueless in the centre. One decent game in the reserves for Newton shouldnt elevate him to next best central midfielder and Chambers should be used at right-back to get the best of him for me. I think I`d opt for Kishishev for Charlton, especially as its his former club so will want to impress and if he doesnt work out there, then we can talk again. I don't think King would have likely made the bench for two reasons. a) He had very little pre-season involvement and went out to York or some such club. b) A large number of better paid signings inevitably moved ahead of him in the pecking order and were given games to acclimatise. Letter a) seemed to result in King losing some of his focus. He finished last season playing in an unusually restricted defensive role for the Academy and had little chance to impress in pre-season - a good portion of what he did get being out of position. Since then he has returned to Leicester and started playing really well in the Reserves, regaining all his old enthusiasm and, of course, playing in his best position as the fulcrum in central midfield.
Churchill Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 I wouldnt mind seeing King but i would give him a chance later on in the season we dont want any mess ups against charlton
Hullfox Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Commeth the hour commeth the man - and every way I view it that man is Andy King.Would someone tell me how Kishishev shapes up as the better option? With a hatful of international caps and playing against his old club (who are favourites to go back up), Kishishev is the better option for me starting. I'd put King in the squad for Villa.
Thracian Posted 20 September 2007 Author Posted 20 September 2007 I wouldnt mind seeing King but i would give him a chance later on in the season we dont want any mess ups against charlton Which games do we want the mess-ups? And why do you associate youngsters with mess-ups? Apart from Mattock's slip the only other major cock-ups that spring to mind over recent months involved Henderson, Maybury, Newton and McAuley against Forest. I don't think City are especially prone to doing daft things individually anyway but certainly can't see that the youngsters are any more guilty than the seniors. Or the managers!
reynard Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Surely it will be kishishev in the short term at least to play alongside Clemence.

Mikey Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Newton Clem Chambers Sheehan on Saturday/ I think Newton's crap. I'd rather play Kaebi or play Hume right and either DJ or Fryatt up top with De Vries.
weggy1976 Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 I think Newton's crap.I'd rather play Kaebi or play Hume right and either DJ or Fryatt up top with De Vries. Agreed. Newton is crap. Hume needs to play up front though. That then means scratching head time. Can we gamble with Kaebi? I've only seen 5mins of him against Watford. If we are going for youth then Stears could always cover the rightside. Kishishev will probably start against Charlton, even though he looks as though he doesn't give 2 hoots. It may be different against old club. If we are going for youth then Stears could always cover the rightside. Especially if N'Gotty at right back
Durnerz Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Kishishev should start against Charlton, the motivation for him will be there before a ball is kicked. If that doesn't work then stick Chambers back into the centre. I'd like to see what Ferriera's all about, either him or Kaebi or possibly both down that right side if N'gotty's still knackered from Forest.

Especially if N'Gotty at right back The problem we have at the moment is an overload of capable players playing in certain positions (ie we have 3 very good central defenders) and the club will have to make the brave decision of not just playing their best players but picking the best team and system, even if it means dropping the likes of McAuley or N`Gotty or even DJ. Its funny how people moan when we play a right-footed player at left-back but accept Hume as a right-midfielder when he doesnt run back as much and is at time is too deep or out of the game when playing in a deeper position. We seem to play Hume to accommodate both DJ and a target man, usually MDV but then we look like we lack the balance that mayeb a Kaebi could give us and a Chambers at RB at N`Gotty or McAuleys expense. Its just like talking about the England National side with us at the moment!

Manwell Pablo Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Ok I'm going to play a game. without reading a single word of this thread, I'm going to guess what it's aboout. I'm guessing it's all about Andy King taking Weso place in the first XI instead of Kishishev or Hellings. UH UH UH AM I RIGHT?

Now for the bonus round!!! a team of 11 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ would do well in the premiership? Fill in the gaps.

Alan Sheehans??? If not definatley Porters. although he did already say something like that in another thread.
Koke Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 In all fairness, Trac has got a point. What harm would it do to have King come off the bench for 10-15 min, especially if we are winning ala Watford.

Were playing away from home against one of the promotion favs, I can see Megson keeping things pretty 'safe'. King wil be fortunate to be on the bench!!!

It'll be much safer to play Kishishev of course or would you mysteriously go for Hellings?. Just so's we know.
Thracian Posted 21 September 2007 Author Posted 21 September 2007 Were playing away from home against one of the promotion favs, I can see Megson keeping things pretty 'safe'. King wil be fortunate to be on the bench!!! There's always a convenient reason this week's never the right one... Indeed some people would NEVER play a single young player cos they'd never quite have the nerve. But I've mentioned King not because he's young. He could be 30 for me. But because, at least from what I've seen, he has more aspects to his game than any of the alternatives. It's not that I disagree about Megson playing safe mind. He'll take one look at Kishishev's 77 caps and that will be that. Newton, Chambers or Stearman will doubtless cover on the bench. Ah well, back to my prayers. Lighten our darkness oh Lord....
Koke Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Sheehan and Mattock wasn't randomly drafted to the first team. They showed what they were about. Not saying King doesn't deserve at least a place on the bench sometime, but give it time and hopefully Megson will realize and see the potential the boy has that only you know about apparantly.

But like any Manager, Megson will be judged on results, and if playing Kishishev gets wins, I don't think many will complian!!!

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks he's a good player by any means. There not lots go to reserve matches but those who do seem to speak enough well of him - one back-pass excepted.
