Lovejoy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Fulop- Picks himself Stearman- IMO simply not good enough Kisnorbo & McAuley- 2 from 3 at the back fair enough Mattock- IMO needs experience lower down, looks out of his depth Hume- Is a forward. End of. Clemence- easy selection, class above Chambers- Is a right back, not a central midfielder Sheehan- I think he's a fullback, not a winger Cort- An overrated, useless, unfit version of Deep Freeze. Fryatt- Not his no.1 fan, but at least he played in his position. SUBS: Kishishev- Does this guy light up a joint before playing. He couldn't look less interested if he tried. N'Gotty- Good player, but a defender. When you're 2-0 down? Campbell- Cetainly looked disinterested, rumours could well be true. If so don't play him.
BedsFox Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Fulop. First name on team sheet Stearman...major surprise he played...Chambers or Ngotty here surely? Kishishev/McAuley..fair enough, but 1 or 2 mistakes a game from this pairing guranteed Mattock.....well theres only Mattock or Sheehan to pick from here.... Hume..play him up top please!! Kaebi! Clemence...second name on team sheet Chambers? pick Kishishev here until Weso is fit Sheehan.....pick one of Mattock/Sheehan at Lb and go with the experience of a Newton away from home or Ferrera at home for the time beinh until Hayes is fit Cort...dunno, inexplicable Fryatt...inexplicable pairing...... Ngotty....first choice in back four to my mind... DJ...not better than Hume, so subs bench is right if Hume played up top

DJ...not better than Hume, so subs bench is right if Hume played up top neither of these have any pedigree at left wing, and in all probabilty would be no better than having, say, chambers at CM... just goes to show, it's not so easy to pick a team, is it?
Jimmy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Fulop - obvious really Stearman - surprised he started but isn't as bad as you lot make out CB's any 2 of the 3 is fine by me Mattock - its too early for him IMO Hume - he drops too deep fro a striker IMO maybe a central midfield role in Weso's absence Chambers - did alright on Tuesday so understandable. Clem - again obvious selection when fit Sheehan - definatly an attacking left back rather then a winger Cort - simply isn't fit enough yet, play MdV from the start Fryatt - he is a good striker and was far more of a thret against Forest then DJ was Subs Kishishev - looked good in pre-season hasn't worked for him in the league yet N'Gotty - who did he replace today? DJ - needs to work harder as unless he scores he does fook all else
BedsFox Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Ferreira is an international, played much of his career as Left Wing Granted he may be no good, but its a pedigree! Newton has played LM for us too, granted thats not much of a pedigree
Milky Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 As i said before, it looked really, really shit.
Jimmy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Ferreira is an international, played much of his career as Left WingGranted he may be no good, but its a pedigree! Newton has played LM for us too, granted thats not much of a pedigree Newton isn't good enough to start right wing and he's even worse on the left, to suggest he should play they is shear stupidity
dandannieldanok Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Newton has played LM for us too............. .......yes and what a failure that turned out to be.
BedsFox Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 OK, So if we don't play Mattock and put Sheehan LB, Who plays LM? Our squad is desperately thin for quality down the left side...
Jimmy Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 OK, So if we don't play Mattock and put Sheehan LB, Who plays LM?Our squad is desperately thin for quality down the left side... Ferreira or you DO play Mattock and Sheehan but with Mattock at left mid, he played well there at the end of last season
lee7 Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 OK, So if we don't play Mattock and put Sheehan LB, Who plays LM?Our squad is desperately thin for quality down the left side... the only other option is porter.
Lillehamring Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Ferreira is an international, played much of his career as Left WingGranted he may be no good, but its a pedigree! Newton has played LM for us too, granted thats not much of a pedigree have to agree to disagre then, i haven't read anywhere other than that he is a right-winger... as for newton, he's had about 200 minutes of good football (in any position!) still at least they are midfielders, unlike chambers and hume
BedsFox Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 quite!!! seems Megson had enough of him after 70 minutes, not in either squad since
Nath Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Starting line up and his 3 chosen subs were terrible. End of
Milky Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Starting line up and his 3 chosen subs were terrible.End of Just out of interest, what starting line up would you have picked today?

Yeah so their both crap but at least MDV is working hard this season thus far and IMO up front we should be playing MDV and fryatt/dj keeping hume on the wing or just behind the front two. As for the left side problem, why not play mattock there, he did play there end of last season after all. At the back kis, mcauley or bruno with chambers and sheehan as full backs. Goes without saying that fulop stays in goal.
Trumpet Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Just out of interest, what starting line up would you have picked today? Certainly not Chambers in a central midfield position.
Milky Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Certainly not Chambers in a central midfield position. If that's a sarcastic dig at me, just check out the sig. I thought the team looked shit before we kicked a ball.
Trumpet Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 If that's a sarcastic dig at me, just check out the sig. I thought the team looked shit before we kicked a ball. It wasn't a sarcastic dig at you, you asked what team would you have picked and i really wouldnt have put Chambers in the middle of the park.
Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Starting line up and his 3 chosen subs were terrible.End of I was always worried about Chambers but saw no reason why the team shouldn't work until it became clear that Hume was being forced into defence and no-one was providing penetrative width. Potential selection should have been fairly simple pre-kick-off. The team that walloped Watford with Kishishev or King replacing Wesolowski would have been perfectly defensible backed by Kaebi ready to make his debut from the bench along with King if Kishishev got the start
Daggers Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 I was always worried about Chambers but saw no reason why the team shouldn't work until it became clear that Hume was being forced into defence and no-one was providing penetrative width. You saw this did you?
Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 You saw this did you? Only reflecting on the commentary. I'll happily stand correcting but I cannot recall Hume being mentioned more than once in an attacking situation nor can I remember any reference to anyone taking people on from wide positions. Mind you the commentator seemed to be chuntering on about nothing half the time. Reference was made to us going 4-3-3 which surprised me and had that been the case I'd have expected Hume and Fryatt to be feeding off DeVries. Didn't sound that way though and the ratings so far don't suggest it either.
martyn Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Hume spent more time in our own half than in the oppositions, that certainly was true.
Daggers Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Only reflecting on the commentary. Passing judgement on a game based on a Barbar commentary is not really wise, n'est pas? I don't think it gives us a vote.
Thracian Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 Hume spent more time in our own half than in the oppositions, that certainly was true. Thanks for that.
