Alexikokopops Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 I spent a year studying this kind of thing. There are cases where Unions are beneficial to companies, including large private companies. There are also cases where they aren't. There we go, lots stop arguing and have a cup of tea. Deal?

Alexikokopops Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Only if there is battenburg cake. I fooking hate Battenburg (that sounds quite violent, I'm not sure I hate it that much). It's Mr Kipling's Country Slices or nothing.
Daggers Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 The service would be improved by having a secure, highly-skilled, highly-paid workforce. They put little bits of paper through holes in a door. This may be a highly-skilled job to someone like you but to most of us we can see it for what it is... Twat.
James. Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 I DEMAND a post from Lemon Harpic. That'll sort this godforsaken mess out.
Rincewind Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I think my house gets all the wrongly delivered mail in our street. The postie sees the name of the street and a number 3 so they all go through my letter box. Some are badly addressed I admit but it only takes a few moments to make sure. Had a text off the boss. pay cheque posted today but theres a postal strike. Hopefully you will all get it. This makes me mad. The companies based in Nottingham and I assume most workers live there so a majority of the PC could be delivered by hand either to sites or collected from the office. The manager was on my site Tuesday to drop some keys off. He could have brought mine and the other bloke that does it with him. Now I will have to wait until the strikes over plus cheque-clearing days and the boss just shrugs his shoulders and says what can I do thats the system that we work on. He wont change it for one person and I dont know of anyone else protesting. Maybe thats because we don't have a union to back us up. Any complaints and it could be classed as insabordination leading to disciplinary action. I think there are good and bad points about unions. They are not needed so much these days because employers realise that they have to treat the workers well and kerep them happy. I've usually found that union reps are in good book with the mangerial staff and receive the odd perk. There has to be some sort of representation for the shop floor worker as it is not just pay deals that are negotiated They can back you if you feel you have been discriminated against or unfairly sacked. But there has to be common sense when there are talks. Wouldn't surprise me if the union reps and bosses just sat around a table playing cards during negotiiations then report no agreement. A days pay for the rep and a work free day for the bosses.
Raj Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 My postie is a fat, scottish fellow. He's always cheerful even in the rain and snow. He never fcuks up our mail. I give him a box of chocs at Xmas....the fat cvnt! I like him and don't want him to lose his job. I heard somewhere that the Post Office now makes loads of money as opposed to losing loads of money. I dont really know what im trying to say. Stop closing the Post Offices,is what im saying. I said it...eventuallly
stez Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 unions suck, but thats because i'm a lover not a fighter.

Manwell Pablo Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I DEMAND a post from Lemon Harpic. That'll sort this godforsaken mess out. Tough, I killed him.
Zingari Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 its rather odd that no postmen has said anything in here ; is it because they actually get off their fat arses and actually do something , unlike the OWLs on here moaning about them
Rincewind Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I had some post today. It was a letter from a credit recovering company addressed to somebody that has never lived at my address. I must have sent a dozen back with 'person unknown at this address' but they still send them. Does anyone know anybody called Esmai Ally? Because if you do tell them they have an outstanding bill that needs to be paid. The name could be made up.
