SamL Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Ricky Sappleton will be carrying the hopes of thousands of Leicester City fans after it was confirmed that he would be sponsored by the club's website for the remainder of the season. The Foxes beat off several Premiership clubs to secure the services of the 17-year-old striker over the summer. And Sappleton has made an impressive start to his City career - scoring five goals from five starts for the reserves since making the switch. The club's website will now be running regular features with the young striker to track his progress as the season unfolds. The official website at www.lcfc.com attracted over 169,000 unique visitors in the month of August - a record since the site opened its doors in 1997. A number of sponsorship opportunities are currently available on the website - please email your company details to [email protected] or call 0870 040 4444 option two for further details.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Ricky Sappleton will be carrying the hopes of thousands of Leicester City fans after it was confirmed that he would be sponsored by the club's website for the remainder of the season. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
SamL Posted 16 October 2007 Author Posted 16 October 2007 That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Don't ask me? I didnt think it did either, but its what the website says
Nationwider Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Great. Advertise your most promising prospects online. Handy for prospective buyers. Speaking of great strikers, I can't think of a more apt sponsor for Carl Cort.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It brings a smile to my face though, along with a chuckle. Your carrying my hopes Ricky, don't let me down. Can I just say 5 goals in 5 reserve games, but he cleary isn't good enough Thracian!!!

Nationwider Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 It brings a smile to my face though, along with a chuckle. ...and a wry grin and a snigger?
Monk Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Well, we have a Sappleton flag, why can't we sponsor him! Loving the Carl Cort pic NW. Energy Saving Trust. Apparently it was a 2 horse race for sponsorship - them or the Space Wastage Association.

I don't think he can carry all these hopes. After carrying the hopes of Jamaica, can he carry all of our hopes to?
SamL Posted 16 October 2007 Author Posted 16 October 2007 We've always had faith in him That picture was taken at Plymouth away wasnt it? What a crappy game that was! Stewards were complete idiots The good old days....
Blue Bob Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Is the OS a bit short of news??? I think most of us were hoping for a loan signing news feature or a Megson update on training (I have got to say Megsons contact with the fans is cr@p, I liked it that every other day MA would post some bit of news with a few witty remarks) but instead we get Sappleton Signs. What has he signed?? He already had a contract so not that - has he signed to say that the OS can run features on him, personally I thought signing for the club gave them that permission. Seems like a waste of virtual space!!!

Can I just say 5 goals in 5 reserve games, but he cleary isn't good enough Thracian!!! I've watched him and I presume you haven't or you wouldn't be sounding quite so jovial. This guy is one big enigma. I have rarely seen a bloke who could go so far from one extreme to another in such a short space of time. He may a wonderful goal for Beswick recently - and a week or two later was giving one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a centre-forward in a city shirt - at any level. Will he make it? Assuming our coaches are truly blessed with genius I'd never say never. The power of his shooting and single minded eye for goal represent gold dust in football circles. His problem will be finding the time to use those qualities.

The "bloke" is a kid. Links was crap, more often than not, at his age...so if he can turn his current "extremes of performance" into performances worthy of Gary at his best then I for one will be delighted.

It is truly hard to visualise "Sapp the Strength" in Lineker terms but yes he is a kid and as a footballing "nougat" of gold he's as raw as they come. But like you I hope he comes through. He does somehow seem to make things happen.
