Flynny Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Tidy passing, dithers on the ball, no leadership, is often in exactly the same place as another player, not as good as Weso. Dunno if I'm going to get much agreement, but I feel horribly like I was seeing what I wanted to see as far as his performances before went. He didn't look too much worse than usual today but I suddenly don't rate him at all.

Koke Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 First game back after being sidelined for a couple of weeks. C'mon, lets be sensible about this.
DB11 Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 He didn't play very well today at all. Not very strong, couldn't make up his mind where to kick the ball and gave away needless fouls. Fulop has more leadership skills than Clem (or at least he did on todays showing) Clem will shout at the ref when a decision goes against us but that isn't very helpful; it's not going to make the ref change his mind! Weso looks better than him, and as Weso is at a young age and can still develop hopefully he'll become a great midfielder for our club.
Bert Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 We've missed Clemence. That's all i wanan say on this. You'll soon see.
ASH17LCFC Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 he was shit today, 3 awful shots over the bar aswell I think our fans have over-rated this guy. He hasn't changed or made are midfield any better then it was last year. Don't win games or adds a spark. Just a better Jason Jarret.

breadandcheese Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 He is one of our better players. One of the first names on the teamsheet for me.
Flynny Posted 10 November 2007 Author Posted 10 November 2007 Based on what? He's a slightly more involved Gareth Williams. His passing isn't even that great, he takes ages to make a pass, and his captaincy is almost non-existant.

Don't win games or adds a spark. Just a better Jason Jarret. Contradictive to say the least. Jason Jarret was part of our midfield for some of the season last season. You say Clemence hasn't improved but he's better than JJ. Surely that's an improvement on the midfield? He's so over-rated that he took the captains armband from one of our best players (Kisnorbo) in the first season he's been playing here.

I just don't think we have any vocal leaders though, N'Gotty seems a standout for me

He takes so long to make a pass because the movement is diabolical, he had a bad day today but i still thought he was the only one that tried to do things.
Milky Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Yeah he isn't a captain, simple as. I just don't think we have any vocal leaders though, N'Gotty seems a standout for me N'Gotty? Vocal? . He's the quietest player in the squad!

TheBlinding Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 he was shit today, 3 awful shots over the bar aswell everytime he gets the ball he never passes it forward always back to the defence, i can see why Birmingham got rid of him now. It's called keeping posession, there was no movement upfront and nobody out wide so instead of just launching the ball aimlessly he keeps hold of it. One of the things that really pissed me off today was about half way through the 1st half when we were passing it around at the back waiting for an opening and people started booing because we weren't hoofing it forward. We ended up putting about 10 passes together and Fryatt had a pretty tame effort from the edge of the area but it about as close as we came. Clemence is the only player in our team with any quality, he rarely gives the ball away but he needs people to pass to, especially out wide and when you have full backs that don't cross the half way line it's quite difficult.
Flynny Posted 10 November 2007 Author Posted 10 November 2007 He takes so long to make a pass because the movement is diabolical. In fairness to the bloke I suppose that's right.
Lovejoy Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 N'Gotty? Vocal? . He's the quietest player in the squad! Just meant because of his experience. I did say we don't have any vocal leaders.
lookwhaticando Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Captain McAuley has a nice ring to it. Do not interpret that as being anti-Clemence-as-captain... because it's not. I'm just humouring you all.
WetFlannel Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Would we really be saying all this about Clem yesterday before this game. I dont think we would. One poor game he was included in and which not many players could work with, we slate him and moan? Why? Its clear hes an excellent player, he was being likened to Muzzy Izzet a few weeks ago... I appreciate many of us are angry and none moreso than me, but this is unfair. Hes a terrific player and cant remember a game before this where he was absolutely terrible... He has my support for now

GO GADGET GO Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 I haven't been convinced al season but then you can see him looking for options when he has the ball & sthere simply aren't any. He sis appear to be playing very deep today, (more than usual).
WetFlannel Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 he was shit today, 3 awful shots over the bar aswell everytime he gets the ball he never passes it forward always back to the defence, i can see why Birmingham got rid of him now. because he was their player of the season and most birmingham fans were unhappy he left perhaps
AyewJoking Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 He's frustratingly limited. I dont think he can control games by himself. He needs help from his team mates who were severly lacking today. I'd say he's still our best midfielder.

He didn't look too much worse than usual today but I suddenly don't rate him at all. In all fairness to Clemence, I don't think the players he's playing with help him to spray the ball about as quickly as he'd like. No movement = little scope for adventurous / cutting passes. I'd also argue that he does show leadership - I noticed him barking a few orders today (notably to Fulop when MF was looking to hoof it long when there was a short pass just infront of him to an unmarked man) and have done in times gone by. It just appears as though for all the orders he gives out, nobody wants to listen to him or take any notice - the guy can't be blamed for that. All I'll add is that he can't have been voted player of the year in a Promotion-winning side for no reason..
Joe. Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 I have to admit Clemence did have a poor game today, but he was still the only midfielder looking to do something. To be fair to him though, it's not as if his team mates make life easy for him, there's a horrible lack of movement around the pitch from us.
