Tommeh Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Hadn't heard this confirmed before now but Royal just said on big league weekend that he spoke with Milan but for personal reasons has pulled out of the running for the job. My guess is that he's after the Wigan job and Milan was possibly ready to appoint him in time for the Barnsley game.

Maybe why MM is taking longer, as he's been knocked back by Jewell, Tigana and now Royal. I don't mind the wait, just hope he gets the right man. There really isn't that much to chose from, I think he will be going for someone already in a job for sure.

If Milan was going to appoint him, or any other manager who's been out of work for a while and not in massive demand, he would have done it by now. Much better for the likes of Reid, Royal et al to pull out of the application process with a bit of dignity.

Wouldn't be disappointed if he was confirmed,met him a few times when he was at liverpool and he is a sound bloke.Not much experience,but so far his record is excellent. Could be a wise chioce as there won't be many who dislike him and most of the other candidates have got a lot of baggage.

What the **** was said by Milan in his interview?!?!?!? Are we no longer a Club with ambitions for the Premier League?? Ok, this season may be amiss but if we were in the top 6 we wouldnt need a ****ing manager..... So what exactly does Royle mean???? I have said so many times that i trust in Milan, that he has the best interests of the club at heart but after hearing this Im so CONFUSED!!!!!!!

Sign up as City Manager, get sacked 6 weeks later, get paid off for the remaining 2 years 10 months of your contract... a very attractive proposition to me^^

Royle has ruled himself out of the running for the manager’s post at Leicester City and, having said that he is ready for “one last big challengeâ€, the former Everton and Manchester City manager is understood to be excited about the prospect of taking charge at the JJB Stadium. Wigan are next to bottom of the Barclays Premier League after losing 4-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur, their seventh successive league defeat. Graeme Souness, the former Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United manager, who was the initial favourite to succeed Chris Hutchings, is still in the frame, although his prospects are thought to have receded in recent days. All that will be incidental, however, if Jewell opts to return to the club he left in May after six years at the helm. But the Liverpudlian has kept his cards close to his chest and is thought to harbour doubts about teaming up again with Dave Whelan, the Wigan chairman, who would like a new manager to be in place before the match away to Arsenal on Saturday week. If Jewell were to return, he would probably want Hutchings as his assistant, but he has yet to approach his former No 2 about the idea and it remains to be seen whether Hutchings would accept such a position, given his dismay at the timing of his dismissal ten days ago. Hutchings expects to have his payoff from Wigan resolved within the next fortnight and is known to have his eyes on the Burnley manager’s job after Steve Cotterill’s departure from Turf Moor.
