Calum McDermott Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 I think Kaebi's being considered as a right midfielder because Hume will probably go up front tonight. I agree i think at right back he is good and not scared of tackling but with a shoulder to shoulder challenge he is too light where is at right midfield that is not a risk.
Koke Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Thrac you can't seriously tell me that Kaebi has played any worse then Newton did tonight, fook waiting until Jan release thaty useless ****er now Newton is hot and cold. When he's shit then he's really shit. But when he can be arsed then he can be bloody good.
Jimmy Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Newton is hot and cold. When he's shit then he's really shit. But when he can be arsed then he can be bloody good. but that only happens like once a season, release newton and use the money to sign Gradel up long term, recall him and rotate him and Kaebi in RM
maddog Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Seems to me Holloway is getting a look at all the players in the squad but actually playing them for the 1st team. I rekon Kaebi will get a game soon or bench. Possibly against Southampton. Do i dare say Hellings may end up getting a game

So we should expect to see Kaebi at some stage next month.
Geo V Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 a month on and we are still going on about Kaebi?! I see he hasn't played and looks like he may be punted out if we believe what we read. One thing about Ollie though is he loves a foreign player, usually Hungarian so if Kaebi can change his name to Kaebizsák he`ll be straight in the side!
coale39 Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 but that only happens like once a season, release newton and use the money to sign Gradel up long term, recall him and rotate him and Kaebi in RM Ant Gradel still in France?
Jimmy Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Ant Gradel still in France? no he played and scored in Bournemouth's FA Cup 1st round replay
lcfcking Posted 28 November 2007 Posted 28 November 2007 Taken from skysports.com Hossein Kaebi is hoping Ian Holloway can kick-start his Leicester City career. The 22-year-old joined The Foxes in July from Iran giants Persepolis but has since then spent most of his time in the reserve team. The midfielder is banking on the arrival of new manager Holloway to kick-start his career in England, and show the new coaching staff what he is capable of. New hope "Leaving Leicester City is an option, but at the moment I am not thinking about this issue much," Kaebi told Iran Sports Press. "I haven't made my decision yet. With the new coach appointment in Leicester City, I'm looking forward for a chance to prove myself and hope that my situation changes at the club. "My agent is set to come to England to talk to Leicester officials. If my time on the bench continues then I will consider leaving City." It's about time that he is given a crack, he is meant to be a class act, plays well for reserves, but the language barrier I believe is preventing him from playing as well as Ferreira. We can't lose him, because he will become a class act.

But if you are asking would I have ahead of Newton the answer is no - I wouldn't have either as they're playing right now. And players like Hume, Ashley Chambers and Eric Odhiambo would be ahead of both from everything I've seen this season. What I would like to see is Kaebi playing right midfield for the reserves. That might show him in his best light and might suggest a way forward for him. I see no reason, given his performances so far which have ranged from ranking 2/3 points to 6.5 at best, that he should leap ahead of people I've mentioned who have consistently rated 6 through to 7.5 in their matches.

If he was given a chance in the first team, and he was crap, I'm sure everyone would shut up about him. Obviously people want to see him as he has over 50 caps and was recognised as one of the world's brightest prospects. Play the fooker and then we can move on. If he plays well then great, if he doesn't then too bad.

[/quoteAfter reading the News on Sky Sports i hope that he does not leave as i could well see him going to a premiership club and exceeding. I'm sure Mandaric will make sure holloway gives him a chance in the first team. However, i think that holloway may be impressed with him anyway. If he plays at the reserves tonight do you still think he as a chance of getting a game on saturday Thracian???

Thracian Posted 28 November 2007 Author Posted 28 November 2007 exactly I cannot see why Kaebi will be any better off being scrutinised by Holloway than any of our other managers. Until he gets it into his head that selection is down to performance he'll get nowhere. Is he saying his hoping Holloway's a worse judge than the others or will ignore people who've done better in his prospective position? Holloway will be taking feedback from people like Stowell and Beaglehole about players in the wings and that feedback is likely to be the same as was given to the others. Kaebi's not even making the right noises through the media as far as I'm concerned judging by the Sky comment. Talking about considering his position if he remains on the sidelines hardly shows the commitment required to improve. Had he said I've had trouble adjusting to English football but feel I'm making progress and am determined to break through however long it takes, I might have been encouraged. But Kaebi needs to know that others want a first team place too and he's not shown himself a better player than any of them thus far. Why should the world revolve around him? If he plays well in the reserves it will be a start. If he plays well three times he might begin to make a case. With people like Chambers and Odhiambo they virtually always make some positive impact and that has not yet been the case with Kaebi. He's made some important blocks but they've been offset by the cock-ups. And as for playing in the Premiership why should Premiership managers want a guy who so far failed to get in a Championship team. He would return to warm country football where his game - at least as he's played it so far - is better suited? Hasn't his former club already been mentioned? Kaebi won't be in any hurry to move. I'd doubt there's anyone else on the planet likely to pay him what he's getting here and if I were Holloway I wouldn't be impressed with seeing comments in the media either. First rule of management - you don't let anyone start manipulating selection through the media. If Holloway gets swayed I'll be surprised. And one more thing. If Gradel returns his chances will drop dramatically so if he's going to improve he'd better start quickly.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 November 2007 Posted 28 November 2007 This is my take on it. Kaebi has never been 100% match-fit. This is a huge problem. We've heard he picks up knocks in training and in reserve games probably due to the physical nature of the English game. There's not a lot that can be done about this. Either he's up to it or he's not but if he's match-fit enough to play 90 minutes for the reserves then he should be given a place on the subs bench for the last 15 minutes of a first-team game. This isn't about who deserves a chance or about foreigners getting places ahead of youth teamers - it's about making the most of a player who could well be the biggest asset we've had in years if we play him in the right position. The same could well apply to Ashley Chambers and his position is striker. They are not in direct competition. He has been played out of position in the reserves both in terms of getting the best out of him AND in terms of solving a problem we have in the first-team. This is the unforgivable part of it for me. He has possibly (all conjecture, this bit) struggled to settle or learn the language which is understandable. It must be difficult for an experienced international footballer who doesn't speak the language to be courted openly by a football club, hailed upon his arrival and then not picked for the first team when he may think he is fit. Again, this is understandable - I'm not saying he's right but I can fully understand his frustration. Hopefully he'll get a chance soon. We may as well have him playing 60 minutes and being substituted due to lack of match fitness rather than Newton playing badly for an hour then being withdrawn. And Thracian, I refuse to believe you can't see the differences between a player like Kaebi and players like Odhiambo and Chambers when it comes to their attitude towards selection for the first-team. Odhiambo and Chambers are going through the process of picking up experience. Neither have played consistently at reserve team level yet and both are still very young. This isn't a comment on whether Kaebi deserves it more, but his attitude towards selection for the first-team. He has more right to expect it than Odhiambo and Chambers. He was not brought here like Djeziri as a promising youngster to prove himself in the reserves, he's an experienced international footballer.

I'm still not sure he's been played out of position. When he arrived people said he was a right-back or right midfielder. He's been played at right back and he's not going to be one of those in England. Like you I'd be interested to see him at right midfield but why conduct an experiment in the first team when you've got a much less risky situation in the reserves? We all had the highest hopes for this guy and from all I've seen our judgement was clouded by the pre-arrival hype - doubtless supplied by the Kaebi camp via YouTube etc. It would be nice if he turned out to be the biggest asset we've had in years but every time time I've seen a real quality player in reserves football he's stood out and made it look easy. Kaebi hasn't done that, not even for spells. I wish he had.

We've had Newton there, he does little defensively to consider replacing him a risk. We had Stearman there for the majority of the game on Saturday. Hume has played there. No-one has really been effective. Chambers and Odhiambo would be risks there especially as they are not known for their defensive qualities. For me a right winger can only be a risk defensively and Kaebi, for all his faults, is used to playing in defence.

Thracian Posted 28 November 2007 Author Posted 28 November 2007 No you don't. That's the problem. What's the problem? That I don't choose to join a ridiculous bandwagon to instal a player in the first team who many punters have hardly seen and who has never remotely played up to his billing? Like many others I thought Kaebi might well be a considerable improvement on our attacking right side - if you care to look the posts are there to be seen - but there is absolutely no evidence that this will be the case. You probably have your own reasons for wanting him in the team and will doubtless conjure up or agree with any obscure excuse to include him. I'd just like to see some football reasons.

Once you've changed career, you've just got to be sh it at the job in question, become bitter about everything, beat a few other OAPs at squash and develop an unhealthy interest in the LCFC academy and you'll be sorted for this forum mate. You could even join the chuckle brothers for a pint of Babars in the S&R before games and make it the Three Muske-lears (learing only of course when a young boy or the imaginary 21 year old totty invites you to Fan Club)
The People's Hero Posted 28 November 2007 Posted 28 November 2007 *Lots of words. Very little said.* Would you like me to help pick your toys up? Also, isn't that pram a bit small for you?
