England Vs Croatia

Maybe. But Anish was saying that Richards wasn't upto internatonal class, after the x amount of games he's played, and i disagreed, allowed right?

Ahhh I thought you were basing it on tonight's performance

But generally I agree, Richards has been a decent player for England so far in his time, he just had a very poor game tonight.

When Gerrard plays for England he always sits far too deep. So many times you see him pick up the ball inside his own half or on the half way, then tries to knock a long pass.

A good caller on Five Live... he's just brought up Barwick etc.

It's true though, if Barwick hadn't been so clueless in the first place we probably would have qualified :dunno:

Yep.

Our best player tonight, was subbed at half time, albeit his replacement showed his class with an amazing first time cross, SWP shouldn't have been subbed. Their left back was bricking it every time time SWP ran at him, Joe Cole who was largly in-effective tonight, should've come off imo.

To think they interviewed the likes of MON aswell, and still went for twat features. Stupid cockhounds.

Bridge was utter garbage tongith. I've normally been a fan of his but if you were giving ratings out of 10 he would be at the most a 2! He did nothing right, even his long throws were crap.

Tactics were complete shit - we showed that with a 4-4-2 (even with a not so great striker on in Defoe) that we were far better in every aspect of the game because it is the formation we're used to!

All in all, Croatia tactically anihilated us this evening and played us off the very muddy wet park. Well done to them and Bilic really looks like he has great potential to be a managerial great. Wouldn't think a snidy fiver on them to win the tournament would go amiss.

I wish the FA would stop fucking around and install a manager with a pedigree and some balls.

A man who isn't afraid to do and say as he sees fit to ensure success for the national side.

Moaninho is a man I've long hated for being such a cocky bastard, and manager of Chelsea, but as much as I dislike him the national side could do with him right now. The FA should get on the phone to his agent tonight and simply ask "How much?". Whatever his price, pay it and let him get on with it. To bollocks with this appointment by committee shite 'n all... let one man pick the target and then bloody well sign him.

As for tonight... I'm not surprised much. I'm surprised we didn't crab it (as usual) but on the other hand, a week ago I thought we were out anyway.

To be handed a lifeline by Israel and then blow it ourselves in spectacular fashion really was special. Truly spectacular stuff. It's great that we've gone out in such fashion... if we had been dumped by Russia winning at the weekend, it somehow wouldn't have been the same.

Well done Steve, well done England, kudos the FA... you've excelled yourselves tonight.

I really don't know how to feel tonight. When Petric scored, I felt upset (?) but also angry. Angry at our underperforming players, at our woeful defending, at the silly mistakes that have cost us a spot in next years finals, and finally pure rage at Brian Barwick for rushing the appointment of McLaren when Venables would have been a more than adequate stopgap (until they realised that MON was the man for the job). At Boro, he never had a decent record and was hired on the back of them beating a couple of teams from the Eastern Bloc in the UEFA Cup. The FA "apparently" wanted a British target and I can think of about five or six British managers on the spot that are better (MON, Curbishley, Allardyce, Coppell but to name a few).

England needs a serious overhaul starting with the people that run the show. Why aren't more of the people that know football involved in some capacity. People like the squad of '66 for example, should be cherished within the organisation and given important roles (this idea is emphasised after the death of a legend in Alan Ball, and made me realise how important they are). I'd feel more comfortable with a World Cup winner interviewing potential candidates than some fat bloke with a 'tache straight from the seventies in charge of football in this fine country.

EVERYONE OUT! :@

I agree and it's generally because he's got no-one reliable to play behind him like Xabi Alonso, Sissoko and/or Mascherano do at Liverpool. I still think Hargreaves should have been picked tonight. It was the right sort of game for him, his hustling and harrying was needed with how comfortable the Croatian midfielders looked on the ball. It's easy to say that now but I did say exactly that just before kickoff.

For what it's worth, I like Gerrard and even though he played poorly tonight, he's generally the only England player who looks lively and like he could create something. He missed Rooney and Owen tonight.

Oh well. I care more about Leicester and it's potentially exciting times for us. F**k England and the overpaid wankers that are chosen to represent us. Don't have to bother with them now until 2010.

Anyone else think that.

a) deciding to award a 'man of the match'

and

b) giving it to Lampard

Is completely taking the piss out of us?

Now, now.

We need to keep the sponsors happy.
