DB11 Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Anyone know / have any idea why they had a penalty It might probably is mentioned in one of the other S'oton threads but I can't find it Anyone care to enlighten me?
Simi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Clemence handball. Holloway just been on SSN now, he's very angry. "If that's a penalty you might as well call me Alex McJock-strap" He was shouting at the interviewer. He is not impressed.

Simi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 i was at the kop end so cant comment if it was a pen or not but not many players were complaining , i wondered if it may have been outside the box ? Holloway thought it was debatable whether it was in or out the box.
mat_j101 Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 It was definately a handball, but i thought it was outside the area, but can't be sure.
Staf Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I was in the kop end and i couldnt see it very well but judging by holloways reaction it seems harsh
syston_fox Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 From where I was in the east stand it looked a yard outside the box. Free kick would have been fair enough but not a penalty.... to be fair though, the goal that they had disallowed was onside so swings and roundabouts
stevec Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I saw it - right in line with me. I was sure it was outside the box - but I could be wrong - my first reaction was it was way outside the box The ball "spun" up off his leg/body and touched his arm - made no difference to play, gained no advantage, was not arm to ball. No penalty in a million years
Webbo Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I was in N block it was right in front of us. I thought it was at least a foot inside the box.
The Stig Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Couldn't see from the kop but we didn't deserve anything out the game. Both teams were bad but they were slightly better.
DB11 Posted 1 December 2007 Author Posted 1 December 2007 I saw the AR flag so I presume he gave the penalty?
City Lad Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Ollie went mentle on SSN. He says how anybody can change a game with that decision is a absolute scandal. Calling it a discrace. He was literally shouting at the camara. Also saying that he will be 'speaking to the ref'. If I were him I would be a scared man Ollie on BBC"To say I'm incensed, shocked and bemused is an understatement. I would like anyone on this planet to tell me that was deliberate handball. "The ball was spinning viciously and came down and bounced up and hit the player. "He (Stephen Clemence) was looking the other way and not one Southampton player appealed for it." The passion Megson never shown.

Lets not start the "passion is shouting on the touchline / at the post match interview" crap again. You confuse passion with anger.
City Lad Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Lets not start the "passion is shouting on the touchline / at the post match interview" crap again. You confuse passion with anger. Fair point but passion would mean that you stay at the club for more than 6 weeks.
lee7 Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 it was never a penalty because he was a yard outside the box and it wasn't a deliberate handball anyway.
DB11 Posted 1 December 2007 Author Posted 1 December 2007 Ollie had a go at the fourth official (Amy Rayner) and waited in the tunnel for the 3 proper officials
kev_lcfc4life Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Ollie had a go at the fourth official (Amy Rayner) and waited in the tunnel for the 3 proper officials AND so he should the b**t**ds got it wrong
Ozwin Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Anyone got a video of the interview? I want to see it.
City Lad Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Anyone got a video of the interview? I want to see it. Audio with BBC Radio Leicester is all I could find.
Jay Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Audio with BBC Radio Leicester is all I could find. Thats a pretty damning verdict on our "FANTASTIC" Home support from Holloway but he's not far off the mark imo
David O'Leary Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I'll have to watch the Championship tomorrow to make my verdict as I am situated in the Kop
Messi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Anyone know / have any idea why they had a penalty It might probably is mentioned in one of the other S'oton threads but I can't find it Anyone care to enlighten me? i was right behind that goal and the ball bounced up at clemences hand outside the box
WetFlannel Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 to be fair, it was ridiculous play by clemence, why did he need to do it in the first place????
