Burnley Pre Match

Never gonna happen, but would be nice.

I don't think that Kaebi is the answer to all of our problems though. I don't rate Newton at all but on the other hand i've never seen Kaebi play so I can't pass judgement. But when I see how badly Newton plays i'd just like to see somebody new brought into the side that might change things.

Ye i agree with you on that one. I will reserve my judgement on Kaebi until i see him play for longer than 10 minutes, but surely he has to better option than Newton. :dunno:

I would love a point at their place, they have been on top form for a bit

Watford were in good form aswell and look what we done to them ;)

Thing with Newton is he is hot and cold.

For all we know, he could turn up tomorrow and have an absolute cracking game and then come Saturday against Albion he'll have a complete stinker. I'd rather stick Stearman at RM and Kenton at RB. Then at least Stearman won't **** about at the back and Newton won't be playing. Two bitches with one stone.

After the good start Ollie hasn't had much luck to be honest has he.

Fryatt sent off (didn't see why, left to have a pee before i left - by all accounts it was silly.)

Injuries a plenty - to key positions

Coming up against Peter Schmicheal 2 in his first home game

Having game after game after game

Crowd getting grumpy

But for once I feel a bit of faith - despite Burnley's impressive results recently, Charlton gave them 3 goals - so unless your us you should win, and Watford are on a wobble - so i'm going for a 2-0 win, yes clean sheet for our boys.

I don't want Stearman anywhere near RM. He's having a tough enough enough time at the moment as is without pissing around with his position. I want to leave him at RB and let him get used to it. I want Kaebi to have the chance he's due. If Gradel was here (I bow to Thrac on this one) I'd be interested in seeing him but he's not so I can't. Newton just blows too hot and cold for me- he's useful on the bench but he just doesn't do it with enough regularity for my liking. Let's give Kaebi a run and find out once and for all if he's up to it or not.

Yeah but we don't have Gradel and surely Kaebi won't get a look. So we have to utilize and make use of what we have got. Kenton for RB is the best shout I suppose. There isn't enough fit strikers available so Ian Hume gotta play up front rather than on the right.

So we have 3 choices for RM.

1- Newton

2- Stearman

3- Wesolowski (and play with 3 DM's across the field and Hayes on the far side, which I'm not fan of)

Newton will play unfortunately, due to lack of alternatives.

Stearman was tried in midfield during Kelly's days for a brief period and he wasn't comfortable.

He could play as a centre-back and move into central midfield as support should the holding midfielder go forward but I'm not sure he's likely to get the chance to do that which, in some ways is a pity because we do need more flow from the back if we're ever going to attack properly.

But as a right midfielder, or permanent midfielder of any kind, I don't think so. Not yet at any rate.

He doesn't pose anything like the threat of Gradel from the right nor does he have the ball control and movement that Kaebi seems to offer.

As for central midfield his close control, speed of decision making and passing consistency simply aren't good enough from anything I've seen.

He remains a positive and committed full-back who has the energy to drive forward and the ability to score a few goals in a season and, if I were him, I'd be working tirelessly to improve my distribution in that role.

Tonight's Manchester United match would have served wonderfully, particularly the first 30 minutes. Cos United gave a wondrous demonstration during that spell of exactly how to attack and defend as a team.

Eight men forward, eight or nine men back and almost every time you looked at United's attack-force they were all on the move.

Rarely did anyone take more than two touches. Often it was just the one.

And if any City players think they've made it and needn't bother trying to improve they should look at Ronaldo. Once a softee who could dribble a bit he's now a strong, fast, ruthless killer of a right winger. First time volley, perfectly timed run and header from in front of the centre-back, rapier-thrust runs through the heart of Fulham's defence,,,how that lad has worked on his game and earned his accolades.

That's who Stearman needs to look to. Or Wes Brown if he can identify with him more. Brown never stopped supporting. Fast pass and move, fast pass and move - invariably along the floor. Until Stearman can do that relentlessly there's no way he'll make a midfielder. His fight is to kep his place at right back.

I hope we get a result tonight, a draw being excellent, but after hearing Owen Coyle on Talksport this morning it's going to be difficult, Burnley are on a cress of a wave and the whole place is buzzing.

I wonder if we will manage to muster up 500 fans to go to this one tonight?

After last year they'll be flattered to get 100.

Even though we won, City's performance mocked the word football.

shouldn't that be 500 foolish glutons for punishment. :D

Not really, all hail our loyal fan base.

lol especially the 6500 who travelled to chelsea

Depends on your point of view, that one. If everyone refused to watch the sort of shit we set out to produce at Burnley last year the club might finally get the message that some people want to be entertained and excited by watching football.

I'm quite aware that, for some, it is only results that count, but I would support City in any League or competition and anywhere from Wembley to West Brom or from Accrington to Viccy Park if they had the right attitude.

But I won't be taken for granted and I won't give my backing to pre-conceived football that shows no ambition or respect for the paying public.

I'm quite happy to watch the Reserves and Academy sides if I think that's likely to happen. And against Burnley it's virtually guaranteed.

Just to start the day right for fans travelling to Burnley the local press have the following warning:

BURNLEY fans are being advised to set off early for tonight's clash with Leicester City.

Roadworks are being carried out in Todmorden Road near the junction with Lyndhurst Road to repair a collapsed sewer.

Traffic will not be allowed to travel down Todmorden Road towards the town centre, one of the main access routes into the town.

Police are advising motorists to take an alternative route to the game which kicks off at 7.45pm.

Match commander Insp Dave Croll said: "We were expecting the roadworks to be completed in time for tonight's match, but unfortunately that is not the case.

"I would urge people to bear that in mind and make allowance for that when travelling to the match because there will be extra congestion."

Leicester have never been entertaining to watch in my lifetime. I've got used to it.

They do say that what you've never had you never miss.

But City have been highly entertaining for various periods in my time and I know which I, and the crowds, preferred.

We used to lose then sometimes, and we got relegated. But we did have a go. We got some people forward and we scored some goals.

Oh yes - we won things too and got to Cup Finals.

To be honest it's not just the fact that it will be shit, it's Burnley, it'll be cold, and it's a long way away. It's the fact that is on a fooking Chossssedeh night as well. I thought the FL gave you close grounds on Tuesdays?

Well this season we've been given Preston, Burnley and Southampton away all on a f**king Tuesday night.
