Burnley Pre Match

With the disappointment of the Southampton game. We need to put this behind us, I think how we respond to this game is critical. Burnley always seems to be a bad ground for us to go, performance wise, but we got the three points last time we went there.

They've just come of the back of two fantastic wins away from home against Sheff U and Charlton, so they will be very confident, no doubt.

Without any real news on the injury front I'm a little reluctant to pick my team yet, hopefully Newton can be replaced though, also Cort.

This will be a difficult game, Burnley seems to be one of our bogey teams but we beat them away last season. They will be confident going into the game but one positive out of that is that they could under estimate us. Hopefully we can bring them back down to earth by going there a getting a result which we are i need of because i can't see us getting anything from West Brom at the weekend.

A single goal would be an achievement against them.

Turning up would be an achievement

Cort and Newton should never figure for us again. Stearman shold be dropped, hopefully a rest will do him some good.

I think that some of the younger players should get a chance now as we have little other option.

Funnily enough I can see us going there, sitting back, then countering and steal a 1-0 victory

That's the exact reason we do better away then we do at home- we're pretty good at playing like that...

As a committed supporter of our youth players I don't think it's that easy. We're already playing five youngsters regularly and six in some matches.

Hullfox wants some muscle and while I might not put it that way we certainly need a few quality senior professionals around the scene.

N'Gotty is one, not expecially because he's tough but because he plays the ball out of defence on the floor when he can.

Cort doesn't need exile - he needs to be fit.

And the sooner Collins John, Elvis Hammond and DJ Campbell are back as options the better.

But young players like Ashley Chambers, Riccy Sappleton, Eric Odhiambo, Billy McKay and Billy Kee aren't ready yet and it will do our side no good to pretend they are. Individual cameos from the bench occasionally but no more than that this season.

Max Gradel is the only remaining youngster I would like to see just now simply because of our desperate need in that position.

But I wouldn't be against giving Kaebi some time in right midfield as well. Because we really do need some pace and movement and, whatever his other faults, Kaebi can offer those qualities.

Which youngsters are you thinking of?

Bearing in mind we have played several in the last two home games and gained 1 point only is a tough trip away to Burnley the right place to chuck in even more untested youngsters?

We desperatley need a positive result at Burnley even a 0-0 would be good.

There is no doubt we have some good young players coming through but the evidence so far is that most are not yet ready.

Why drop Stearman? He did no worse than Kisnorbo/Mccauley or Clemence and at least looked a threat going forward. If Chambers is fit then try him right back but is he fit? or is he in the same state as Cort and not match fit?

I tend to agree with you about Newton and Cort but at the moment who else do we have? Sappleton and Chambers didn't look up to it on Saturday and kaebi doesn't seem to be any better according to those who have seen him play.

Our squad is very unbalanced thanks largely to poor buys made by martin Allen and at the moment Holloway will do well to cobble together any sort of team capable of picking up any points at all. The only hope is we can add some quality in January by which time we could well be in the bottom 3.

Happy with a draw, I anticipated 4pts from saints/burnley/wba.... just means we need a draw and win against WBA a draw would be decent at Burnleys TURD moore.

Come on city get it together we all love you.

we seriously need a win, even a scrappy one to keep our hopes of a decent finish alive so ill be expecting maximum points, even if its is a controversial 1 - 0 win, with 99% possession to them

like we did last year.

There in great form beating watford and charlton both away. typical leicester though when we're expected to lose...

Good luck to everyone going, safe journey. Unfortunatly I won't be joining you.

I went last year. Proper sh*thole, atmosphere was crap and the performance was even worse.

Had it have been on a saturday however, i'd be there.

i just think Cort needs to get fit actually. that would help.

I see no reason why he continues with Newton and doesnt give kaebi a chance on the right!!!! Sorry for mentioning him.....again.

Randomly, I was at the Valley on Saturday and was fairly impressed by Burnley.

If City are going to play long balls up to their strikers on Tuesday, they'd better hope that Cort or De Vries have a blinder, because they were Charlton's tactics on Saturday and it got them nowhere. Unsworth and Carlisle completely dominated Iwelumo and Varney in the air.

Burnley had plenty of muscle up front - Andy Gray was very good at leading the line. He's exactly the sort of player we need up front at the moment - abrasive, strong and scoring.

At the risk of sounding negative, a Villa-style smash-and-grab is the best bet, hitting them on the break.

As they've just beaten Watford and Charlton, and we've taken 1 from 6 at home, I'm confident we'll go there and win.
