How can you tell with a depleted crap squadand less than a month in the job. He's already shown a willingness to include non regulars like King, Odihambo, Maybury, Kenton in his short spell here. Now I'm not saying they deserve to be in but he's seeing for himself. Who are these favourites and who could replace them? My only thought is N'Gotty for Stearman.

I think he is making the best of what he has got, changes will come and I'm pretty sure that when they do the chaps that claim he has faves will be a tad shocked. Well.... I'm hoping anyway

I can think of six, not counting Fulop who fully deserves selection whether he's a favourite or not. As for "looking", Holloway could start by "looking" at the team selections throughout this season as listed in the programme to give himself a reasonable impression of the playing strength he's inherited and there are films galore of King, Odhiambo, Maybury and Kenton. Quite apart from seeing all four every day on the training field. This is not the time for experimentation and endless team changes. Nor for using three defensive midfielders at home and nine defenders away.
jimthemofo Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 hopefully holloway can stay for a while, but the way this season is going, a couple more losses and he might be gone! if holloway did go, very much doubt it, maybe we would get mclaren for a laugh, or maybe davies for more fun and joy. we can only dream.

Dames Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 This is not the time for experimentation and endless team changes. Nor for using three defensive midfielders at home and nine defenders away. The thing is we don't have none of these fabled one touch, mobile, attacking midfielders you speak of. So we have to settle for this unimaginative dour defensive tripe. Also Andy King is not the answer to all our problems, We can't afford to give an 18 year old kid the freedom of the park with a team that is sub-standard. Just wait and see what happens in january its only a few weeks now.
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 It's not a case of chosen men at all. Kelly, Levein... all the others... they are all idiots. Poor football managers. That said, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. Casino Jimmy, Elvis Hammond, Kishishev - they've been sidelined etc because they're not up to it. Sadly, perhaps the same is try of Ka'ebi, Ferreira et al who we've not seen a lot of.

Oh please no! McClaren or Davies... what a fooking choice!!!

Calum McDermott Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Any "hidden" talent at Leicester would have been found long ago. There's enough managers been looking for it. Kaebi is the only one I'd want to see any longer - in right midfield assuming he, the club and his carers have the patience to persist which I rather doubt will be the case. Why? Because of his speed, movement and close control. They are qualities many players have as standard but in our first team they are often inexplicably lacking. There's three or four youngsters on the far distant horizon but they'll probably be 2-3 years or more breaking through and are not named on the current squad lists nor are they likely to be. I would love to say there's another quality Academy side coming through but they're a mixture really and don't have the swagger and impetus of last year's group which really looked the part as a team. They've got heavyweight strikers but, like the first team, they lack wingers. Guys like Gradel and the much more understated but invariably effective Beswick don't come along every season. Sadly Beswick's missed a good part of what should have been an important season through injury. There is a 15 or 16 year old in the academy called Jorrin John. He played against my school team in the semi-final of the county cup and he looked good, he had good technique, blistering pace, very tricky and skillful, good vision and runs. However, he had an extremely poor attitude, he was arguing with his team mate and seemed very full of himself. he has made appearances for England U17's.

Jack Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Didn't he just miss out on place in the U17 World cup squad ?
Calum McDermott Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Didn't he just miss out on place in the U17 World cup squad ? Im not sure but i kno that he played in the qualifiers, who was he playing for when you played him?

From 1st impressions he seemed like he wasn't from the greatest area etc. to develop well.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Why do you think hes like Kelly tho? I have seen no sign that he is gonna buy a lot of old journymen. Barry Hayles' coming to us in January!

For fook sake - we've been shite for 3 to 4 seasons, the players have endured manager after manager, so to expect a new man to come in and work miracles is asking a bit much. On the plus side - we've got some points, and from reasonably tough fixtures too. We've also seen some of the younger players emerge - Mattock, King, Chambers and I'll say Stearman - I don't see why everyone hates him so much, he does a decent job in the games I've seen him. Holloway's going to pay no attention to past selections - those selections didn't get us very far did it - and what goes on, on a training field (little time that there has been for that - midweek games most weeks since he took over i think.) can hardly replicate what happens on the pitch. We've appuled two managers coming in this season, and then slated shortly after - plus just slated ginger mourinho since his appointment. (Who annoying seems to be doing well at Bolton!) Lets just back this chap till the end of the season - if we hit mid table thats a start, but lets not expect too much from this season, it died before Holloway got here.

Like you say, the season's had it. So why the hell do we need to play with nine defenders at Burnley and 4-5-1 at home? Just to make it worse? Cos that's what's happened. I'm more than happy to back Holloway. But I won't back that sort of nonsense. Yet doubtless we'll have some more against Ipswich. It's a form of self-mutilation we've come up with in recent years.
Leicester-Sam Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Is Holloway doing a Kelly? No is the answer. Holloway is much, much worse than Kelly. Give me Rob Kelly above this Wurzel anyday of the week. Holloway has no right to manage a club like this, I've only been a City fan for 5 years but it's obvious that this bloke is way out-of-his-depth. Sack him now Millan and bring back Allen. he should never have left, or if not him go for someone whos doin well with a small team and is not a retard, like Warnock or simon daives.

You're gonna make this site very controversial coming out with stuff like that. PS: There are moves to discourage MM from doing sacking's in the season of goodwill. Yes I know Leicester have had four season's of goodwill.
