Leicester City manager Ian Holloway is set to swoop for Plymouth Argyle midfielder David Norris.

The former Argyle boss left Argyle last month to take over at the Walkers Stadium and has been promised funds by Foxes owner Milan Mandaric.

A national newspaper reports that Holloway is set to sign Norris in January in a £1 million transfer, although the livewire midfielder has recently been linked with a £2 million move to Ipswich Town.

Holloway is in the market for wide midfield players and Norris could well top his list and Argyle winger Peter Halmosi could also be a target.

Paul Sturrock paid Bolton Wanderers £25,000 for Norris in 2002 and the Premier League club have a 50% sell-on clause should the Pilgrims' decide to any future transfer.

In August Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton turned down two bids from Southampton for Norris, with the last offer being for £1.2 million.

The 26-year old midfielder has made 235 appearances for the Home Park club and is now enjoying a return to form after a mediocre start to the season.

Not sure what to make of it myself, anyone know much about him?

From Wikipaedia:

Norris started his career at Boston United, which was a non-league club at the time. 'Nosher', as he was known, was a popular goal-scoring midfielder and his performances soon attracted the attentions of league clubs. Bolton Wanderers won the race for his signature, and paid Boston £50,000 for the 18 year old in February 2000.

Described by Sam Allardyce as "one for the future", Norris found first team appearances very rare. He was loaned back to Boston within a month of signing to keep himself match fit. He was loaned once again in 2002 to Hull City, for a month, playing 6 games (3 as a sub) and scoring 1 goal. After only making 2 appearances for Bolton in the League Cup and FA Cup, he was loaned to Plymouth Argyle. He had his loan extended to the full three months and was then signed for a fee of £25,000 in October 2002.

He has since acquired the new nickname of "Chuck", and became an integral part of Argyle’s promotion to The Championship in 2004. Although short (5’7"), he is stocky, extremely fit and enthusiastic, which makes him a firm favourite between fans and players.

At the end of the 2005/06 season Norris was named Plymouth Argyle Fans Player of the Season, and had an excellent start to the following season, including a goal in the 3-2 win over Sunderland in August

I thought we were going for the left-winger Halmosi?!!

I read that we wanted Norris in the Sun but I must admit I dont know that much about the lad.

I've given up on expecting anything from our new signings. Even when someone threatens to be a good player he's then played completely out of position for a large part of the season. The only player we can't play out of position is Fulop but I'm sure they'd stick him in the reserves if they could find another f**king right-back to go in goal.

For you lot to mull over here is a list of Plymouth players I would not like to lose. In other words worth signing.

Goalkeepers - we have two average.

Full Back - None worth having.

Centre Backs Marcel Seip (rhymes with pipe) Outstanding much admired by Ollie.

Kristian Timar, Hungarian, lumbering monster useful for the fight.

Matte Doumbe, French very nippy.

MIDFIELD

David Norris, boundless energy, perpetual motion but inclined to run up blind allys.

Peter Halmosi, Hungarian International, Argyles record signing at £400,000 looking a bargain, pure class.

Forwards Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, our top scorer but has missed more than he scores.

Promising Youngsters. Dan Gosling can play anywhere in defence or midfield England under 18 international.

Gary Sawyer, similar to Gosling.

Please Take Cherno Samba, Rory Fallon and Rubin Reid and make them into Walkers Crisps or something.

That concludes to vote of the Plymouth Jury.

I tried to sign him on FM2008

I'd take both Norris and Budsaky -------- however have QPR already agreed a deal to sign him after his loan.

Unfortunately not. However he did bad mouth his present club regarding Capaldi move to Cardiff.

He's going to cost 2 million, not 1 - well worth the dosh.

Mind you I will be interested exactly how much MM is willing to spend cone January. I have the feeling he's going to hold off a bit till the Summer, providing we're safe that is

You can keep them all, apart from MAYBE that Halmosi bloke, he sounds alright. We could loan him as a trial period and then decide whether to sign him or not

Have you really got ''Ollie Out'' in your signature?

Despite his denial, he's got to be a Plymouth fan.
