What happened to Ollie's Cheers not Jeers?

Recommended Posts

After having a go at the fans for booing Cort and saying things like they need a hug, to be a family he's now calling them rubbish and has given up on them.

So Jeers or Cheers?

Is it only the manager that can effectively 'boo' them even though he gets paid thousands and fans have to pay for the privilege of booing?

It's all very confusing..... No...... Yes :dunno:

Just a thought to provoke debate.

Tis a good point.

I can't pretend I have been a fan of our new manager, but booing players at the games is not the answer. And so it should be that the manager does not boo some of the players in the media ....that does not help our cause in my opinion

i was impressed by holloway's banter when he arrived and his track record at smaller clubs is good.BUT recent performances have been totally unacceptable and i am worried Holloway will squander millions ala taylor.he has no track record of spending real money and his 'skill' is spotting strikers.i am really concerned !

So, so much seems to be wrong behind the scenes at the moment. I do agree that some of the players that are still here are having an adverse affect on morale in the squad. I do think that if some of these current players we have pull their fingers out and think about their game they can play a part for us in the future. Sadly I only see there been a couple of these.

It does seem like Ollie has changed his tune now though. Maybe he's come to realise what we have known for sometime.

Very good point  I honestly think he don't know what he is saying half of the time.

I don't actually think he needs to be spend millions myself, but we'll say how that pans out. Milan no doubt playing a big role. Holloway has built his career on working with players that want to play for him, not superstars on a big wage. But now he sort of has the opportunity to do that so we will see if he changes his approach.

Didn't agree with the thought process behind Holloways appointment to start with, doesn't mean I won't support the guy because I will, I have to, we're stuck with him now and hopefully his business brains and ambitions stretch a little further than Barry Hayles. Lets get a fooking playmaker in for christ sake, its so glaringly obvious yet no manager has spotted it since Izzet went.

Another Plymouth fan pretending to be one of us!!

I am a Plymouth fan not pretending to be a Leicester fan.(that will fool them???)

I beleive this post was started by a proper, real dyed in the wool foxes(not Plymouth)fan as he had umpteen thousand posts to his credit, if it isnt and its just a Plymouth fan with psychic abilities could he please E-mail me with the next four weeks lottery numbers.(maybe then I can entice a certain Mr Ronaldinho to Home Park)

Is this a case of you starting to beleive what we say about Mr Holloway, or do you really beleive that maybe he is not the right manager for you.

i would bet my house any leicester fan speaking to the guy for more than 15 mins about our football club will realise he isnt all there and has other things on his mind apart from lcfc. The amount he is geting paid he should be 100% commited to us or we will go down

saying one thing one day and then 2 days later something else shows he is a playmaker short of a full 11 ;-)

I have, clearly he is bonkers however he does know his football.

I think he probably is one hundred percent commited to you..............at the moment, if however he feels you are not commited to him(not necessarily the club) he will say something, he was always running off at the mouth about our fans not turning up(yes it was deserved, sometimes) but I think he gets carried away in the moment and ends up back tracking or apologising at a later date.

Incidently our attendence has now risen since he has gone, I think thats down to Sturrocks arrival more than Ollies departure.

yes for around 30 minutes, started off very impressed but as it went on when talking about plymouth players and there club he seemed very twisted as if they had done the dirty on him,he didnt really seem to have any targets other than the plymouth players and said gary penrice (i think) was going to have to work full out as leicester had alot more weaker areas than plymouth

it seems gp is more important than anyone in us staying up,lets hope he can find us a gem or two

IH also said he would hope to get "lucky" with a couple of trialists as well

but such is his character who knows what was said in jest

nobody here wanted cort in the first place wen and if he starts scoring goals thn he will win over the fans shud av given him pay as u play contract

Pardon? :dunno:

Well whilst I'm 99.9% behind Ollie and fingers crossed he will do the job thats needed, his mouth does gets a little carried away.

He obviously says some stuff very knee jerkish, but everyone has their faults and I hope that is his and not his football management.

For example I was very bemused when 1 week he was spouting about not needing to get anyone in come January and within 10 days it was the total opposite :) - he should know we knew his team better than him at that point - we know who does not perform on a regular basis - ala Cort etc - FFS Thracian knows his Reserve and Youth setup better than Beaglebrains and him put together!

I wish Ollie would shut up moaning about the players, yes they're not the greatest but we've seen them all have very good games in the past. As the manager one of the most important things is to get the best out of your players and I've never seen this group of players play any worse than they are now. He best be bloody good in the transfer market.

I used to enjoy listening to Ian Holloway interviews when he was at other clubs...I thought he was a breath of fresh air amongst all the mundane chat you get from most managers

now that he's managing my team it's a different story, his interviews rarely make any sense, he's spending far too long saying how shite our players are how desperate he is to sign players in the transfer and in the meantime these players look completely demotivated (unsurprisingly) and we are hurtling towards the bottom three!

From what I understand Ollie has told the players they have the xmas period to fight for their places at the club. If they don't stand up and be counted, they're out. As far as I understand that's a commonly used tactic to motivate players.

Fans booing players is different, as it directly affects players during a game. I can't imagine Ollie would boo the players during a match.

I'm sure that is a commonly used tactic to motivate players but in my opinion that should be a private chat between player and manager; not broadcast all over the national media as this has been for the last couple of weeks by our manager. All that serves to do is dent the remaining confidence of said player(s)

Well I put the 'booing' in speech marks because he obviously doesn't boo them as such but his public denigration of them after saying they need to feel wanted is no better and probably worse than a few fans booing player.

At best it's hypocritcal of him at worse it could kill off any confidence the players had.

You can't please everybody all the time. When Rob Kelly kept repeating that the players were "a great bunch of lads" he was criticised for that. Now Holloway wears his heart on his sleeve that is wrong as well.

He tried the arms round the shoulder bit and look what that acheived. What he has inherited has shocked him. I don't see anything wrong with distancing himself from this bunch of clowns. If he doesn't he'll sink with them.
