Babylon Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 we hold that title We have some prats.. I thought we were the worst in fact. But Plymouth fans blow us out of the water. None of them seem capable of realising, that he can love the area, he can love the fans.... but he can also want to take an opportunity working for a bigger company, with better long term prospects, on a better salery. I loved where is use to work... but with an offer like that i'd of been out the door in a second.

James. Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 I have attempted to undertake some crude and quite frankly lazy detective work into whether this is genuine by searching for a picture of Holloway's signature to compare against the one in the letter. All I have found is THIS If someone fancies continuing my tenuous work maybe they could zoom in on the image and clean it up a bit to see if the signature matches.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 hes employed by mandaric And? If he gets it right why would that matter, Holloway didn't come here to fail.
Harold Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 And? If he gets it right why would that matter, Holloway didn't come here to fail. He will give all he can for you and 'appear' to be in love with the fans, the city, the club in general. The reason it is dragging on a bit from Plymouth's side is that he has come back to us for two of our players, ranted in an interview that he is coming back to sign all Plymouth's players that he himself signed and now he has sent this letter (the letter has been sent to credible Argyle fan so I have no reason to doubt it). Ollie has dragged this one out, keeps talking about us etc Argyle fans were bitter at the start, rightly so after his declaring undying love for us! But now we are starting to realise how unstable the man was and how much he didn't give a toss really and some people are quite glad now that he has gone - we just hope Paul Sturrock can continue what Ollie had achieved on the pitch. He brought some excellent players to our Club and got results but I cringe when I hear some of the some things he comes out with in interviews. Maybe it is part of the healing process for us - giving the man a hard time ets, I dunno... but I think even you will agree that his behaviour is somewhat - 'manic' at times. We have no issue with Leicester - we just hate Holloway - he is a fraud and I hope he gets sacked.

I don't care if he loves us or not, or even if he leaves in 2 years time to go to a bigger club... because that means he has been successful which is frankly all I care about. It's definitely time he kept his gob shut, I gave him the benefit of the doubt but it's becoming pathetic. Obviously a lot of stuff has gone on and been said to him by your board and some of your fans that has hurt him pretty badly, and because he is a passionate bloke he doesn't think about what he says. In this case it was your fan who published the letter so it's him who is dragging this one out, maybe he should have kept his gob shut like Ollie should. It's funny how we only get the reply, maybe your fan would like to post a copy of the actual letter he sent to Holloway that maybe prompted this reply!!!!!

May I remind you the letter was on headed paper and so a representation of your Club - it wasn't a personal letter - it was a letter from Leicester City Football Club. Do you honestly believe Ollie wanted this letter kept quiet? If he did he shouldn't of sent it to an unhappy Argyle fan who is has never met and knows nothing about! Don't think so - just more spin from a man who will give Alistair Campbell a run for his money. We do get a bit wound up I know but we are just like you - passionate about our Club.

I agree with the second paragraph. Anyway did any of your fans even like Holloway?
Dr_Fox Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 I hope this letter isn't true as what Holloway has written, on official lcfc headed paper I might add, is horribly unprofessional. I'd rather he concentrated on managing our club instead of sending refunds to fans of other clubs and writing these kinds of letters!
Harold Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 And if he hadn't replied what would you be calling him? The written didn't expect a reply and neither would I have expected one. He does some nice things Ollie but it is all part of the 'love me please act'. You wil soon realise that. Most of our fans really liked Holloway - he was a breath of fresh air initially, the constant media coverage was good for us but then it did start to get a bit embarassing. Thing was, results were going well so it was ignored or we put up with it. If your results don't improve I guess you won't be putting up with it either.
Asha Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 I think this 'trevor' guy's a complete jockstrap twathead. Ian Holloway took the time to personally write back to him, refund the book, and explain to him about why he left - and specifically asked for it not to be publisized. It's on a fooking fan site already. Most people would have just chucked the letter in the garbage, but no...Ollie wrote back, and I think that says that he is really honest and has time for people who are hearing him out. This is the thing though, Plymouth fans are all ****heads if they can't let this go. They've hardly put a foot wrong under Sturrock, and their high up in the league - they've got to let this go. When Megson went, we weren't bitter about it at all - Plymouth just need to accept that in terms of finance, prestige and size we are a bigger club then they are, despite the league position. They need to all get over it and get on with their season, and so should we.

If he was just doing the nice thing he wouldn't have written the bits about players and the chairman - it is being used by Plymouth fans as part of our therapy so that we can really see what an unprofessional, egotisitcal man he is.

That's all very well. But even that's slightly sad. You're doing better than us, you have mainly better players and are higher up the league. Sturrock has joined, been doing really well and has hardly been noticed under the Ollie obsession some Plymouth fans seemed to have developed. In my opinion, plymouth fans are only doing all this so that come february they will have at least one game left with some meaning, because in all honesty i can only see Plymouth lowering to midtable mediocracy for another season.

There is also the other matter of his 2 hour telephone rant to an ex director witnessed by 4 others recently. The ex director as he admits himself, stupidly after a few beers, forwarded a text that was doing the rounds to O££ie's mobile. It said"What is the difference between Ollie and a seagull? A seagull doesn't spend 16 months telling you he loves you before shitting on you.' Pretty harmless in the greater scheme of things but O££ie wouldn't let it rest and called back several times ranting and raving like something demented for 2 hours. Personally I think he is losing the plot, he has more to worry about at LCFC than to spend so much of his energy on his ex employers and fans.

But it shows that after 16 months or whatever of working his heart out for you, he decides to move on and now probably dartboards with holloway's picture on, as an official plymouth product are sold at the club shop Whether you think he's losing the plot or not, it doesn't matter...it's not your problem anymore. It's not exactly like he shat on you. In any career, you have targets/goals/aspirations. I seriously doubt that at any point he promised to stay with you forever. Football's like that - we've had the likes of Martin O'Neill, who was a total legend, but had to move on to better things to reach his dream of becoming a better manager. It upset us, but we didn't hate O'Neill...we just accepted if we were O'Neill we would have done the same. For Ollie's example, I am sure he's capable of successfully managing a team on the next level to Plymouth Argyle.

What I do know, is that if Ollie had published all the letters from plymouth fans that contained personal abuse you'd soon have something to say about it!!!!

If he was such a lier why would he waste 2 hours on the phone to someone who he had just 'stabbed in the back'? you Have 2 options i guess... He either is the lier and schemer PA fans are making him out to be OR he has been crapped on from a very big height by people he once trusted. Time will tell.

Why the hell should he have to put up with ex directors sending him pathetic text messages like that, none of you can handle the fact he walked out on you for a team lower in the table. Why is it ok for everyone to have a go at him and not expect him to reply? If an ex boss of mine sent something like that i'd of been on his doorstep to give him a fat lip.

Agreed, but we really could do with Holloway focussing on his job at LCFC. We deserve that.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Agreed, but we really could do with Holloway focussing on his job at LCFC. We deserve that. Indeed, we don't know when all of these things happened really do we. I read the directors post and the text/call happened the day of the england croatia game. Ollie may well be over it now for all we know.
Harold Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 do you think the board will sell a load of players in January? Who knows really.... we have some dead wood to release like any other club same as you. Every player has his price so I guess it depends on what offers do come in. We are doing well so in a way would be a bit disappointed if offers didn't come in. I don't think we are looking to sell anyone.

Plymouth are one of those sides who will always sell up, and so don't expect the likes of Norris, Gosling and Ebanks-Blake to be there for too long.
