Matt Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Anyone got any presents/bonus from work? I was informed last week i'll be receiving a £300 bonus :w00t: and was given a few beers.
Trumpet Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 As a part timer, I won't recieve any bonuses until the new tax year, which is a small percentage of what I earn over the year. Next to nothing. Infact, any bonus I get would be paid out on tax which may result in me actually getting paid less, somehow..

I know what you mean, I can do as much overtime as I want but the more overtime I do the more i'm taxed, I don't earn any less and do earn slightly more but its not really that worthwhile, abit frustrating.
Stuliasz Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I'm a temp where I'm at currently but was told today by my boss they are looking at getting me on a contract which means about £3-4 more than I'm getting now come the new year So some kind of bonus I guess.

I done a bit of over time in the week, as you do. Dropped my phone, its now broke. And the extra money im getting will be paying for a new phone. Its a loose loose situation.

AoWW Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I got given a bottle of rather nice single malt - Glen Grant, 1957 - from the father of one of the kids I teach. Shame I don't like scotch.

Trumpet Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 And im too cool to edit that, i meant to do it.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 I got told i have more work to do now in the new year for no extra coin
Rincewind Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Doubt I'll get anything. Recently had a rise from the minimum wage to the minimum wage. 15p per hr. I have Xmas eve and day off so will not receive double time for working it which I would have been told was my bonus. Working New Years Day though which will be DT. First Xmas here so don't know their policy on xmas bonuses but I don't hold high hopes on getting anything.

AoWW Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 I'd pay twelve. You're too ickle. Selling it to you would go against all my principles.
James. Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 er, no. 50 year old malt eh. That's a pretty serious whisky. Might be worth keeping, I'm no expert but surely it's going to get more valuable as it gets older... I get my annual bonus in January but if the words sub-prime, billion-dollar writedowns and credit crunch mean anything to any of you you'll get an idea of what I'm expecting compared to what I thought I would get at the start of the year. Bollocks. Shouldn't have maxed my credit card.
Asha Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Ebay it Say it's been up Kinga from Big Brother 2005

Is it gonna be worth a small fortune one day?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 No bonus as such (there never is) but the bloke I do most of my work for has gone mad and bought me about 20 bottles of ale and a bottle of red wine. I thought he'd get 4 for a fiver
James. Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Yeah, I was wondering whether I should just keep it. Any experts on here know whether it's worth hanging onto? Is it gonna be worth a small fortune one day? It's a crude way of looking at it but the 1948 Glen Grant is going for £435 compared to £150 for the 1957... maybe 9 years on you'll be looking at a similar value increase. As it gets older it gets rarer right so yeah I would hold on to it. 20 years time it could be worth a fortune.
