lildave3 Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Roy Hodgson.Breaking News on Sky Sports News. Interesting choice. Can't say I know too much about him tbh, but they're clearly looking for the experience to keep them up.
Simi Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Nice away trip to Fulham next season then!? I wouldn't count on it.
Micky Ruddle Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Nice away trip to Fulham next season then!? Danny Cadamareti Du Du Doooo! Slight possibility, i can't see them go down though, despite their poor form? =/
MC Prussian Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Interesting choice. Can't say I know too much about him tbh, but they're clearly looking for the experience to keep them up. I have but fond memories of Hodgson when he managed the Swiss National squad, leading us to the World Championship in 1994 and Euro '96 in England. Christophe Ohrel scoring the 3rd goal against Estonia in our last WC qualifying game 1994 He's class. Very knowledgeable, calm (he hardly ever loses his temper on TV, that is), intelligent, maybe a renegade, but a "clever old fox" as you may say. Besides some jobs in Sweden and the Finnish National squad (Valerenga or Shen could give you more details on that), he also managed Italian side Udinese Calcio for a while. Played for: Crystal Palace, Maidstone and Berea Park Managed: Halmstad, Bristol City, Orebro, Malmo, Neuchatel Xamax, Switzerland, Inter Milan, Blackburn, Inter Milan, Grasshoppers, FC Copenhagen, Udinese, United Arab Emirates, Viking FK, Finland, Fulham He'll do Fulham some good. "Unknown" managers tend to have less pressure on their shoulders. Best of luck to him and his new team.
Father Ted Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 That could possibly be a very good appointment. A very interesting appointment to.
SamL Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 A very surprising choice. I spoke to a Fulham fan and he said he would've preferred Collins John John Collins. I don't know a lot about him but it seems that he's very experienced so may do a good job. He's on a 'Long term' contract so looks like they want him to be staying around for a while.
MC Prussian Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 IIrc he was crap for Blackburn. He did guide them to a UEFA cup spot in 1997/1998.
Webbo Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 He did guide them to a UEFA cup spot in 1997/1998. They were relegated in 1998/1999
lildave3 Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 They were relegated in 1998/1999 Under Brian Kidd, no?
Webbo Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Under Brian Kidd, no? I could be wrong but I think that Hodgson got the sack halfway through that season because they were struggling.
lildave3 Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 More like who? Hehe, I only remember him as Blackburn manager
Ultra Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 I could be wrong but I think that Hodgson got the sack halfway through that season because they were struggling. Correct. He's not worked in English football since. His use of transfer funds during January will decide whether Fulham stay up or not. They've not looked too clever in recent weeks.
