LENNY GLOVER Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 made cash offer for bradley johnson according to evening telegraph ,northampton match report
Mark Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Watched him a few times, very very impressive on those occasions. He's only 20 but very strong for his age and from what I remember he's more right sided despite having a great left foot, he cuts inside onto that often.
Jack Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Can't be any worse than the current lot. Get him in.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Preparing a post on this, have seen him play loads over the last couple of years.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Preparing a post on this, have seen him play loads over the last couple of years. Aint he hot and cold? I'll wait for your post Im sure you know much more about him than any of us.
Staf Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Seen on SSN someone has made a "substantial offer" it must be Leicester then
billabob Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Right then iv got a mate who is a northampton fan and having so few supporters he knows a board member who on my behalf asked about Bradley, the responce was that yes Leicester have made an approach BUT interest has also been shown by Coventry and QPR for him and as of a few hours ago no decision had been made.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Wasn't Josh Low from Northampton? We shouldn't read anything into that, apart from surely this lad must be better than he was
Mark Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Wasn't Josh Low from Northampton? We shouldn't read anything into that, apart from surely this lad must be better than he was He is and by far, now Low is struggling to get into the Peterborough side.

Alexikokopops Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Aint he hot and cold? I'll wait for your post Im sure you know much more about him than any of us. I'll take hot and cold over the lukewarm offering we're getting served every week.
DustCobb Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Hi chaps. Cobblers fan here. It was supposedly Coventry, Leicester and QPR, apparently West Brom are now involved. Bradley is average if you ask me. Would have struggled to keep his starting place this year if we had anyone to replace him with. Blows very hot and cold, one game will be awesome then the next 5 will be rubbish. Does have potential though, plays centre mid, more attacking probably but can tackle and work hard and has a vicious shot, when on target. Definatly not worth the quoted 300/400k but we'll happily take it off you or another club!
DustCobb Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Cobblers manager Stuart Gray says he will not stand in the way of Bradley Johnson should the midfielder today agree terms with Coca-Cola Championship club Leicester City. Johnson didn't play for Town in their 1-1 draw with Millwall at Sixfields yesterday, but was at the game. Today, though, the 20-year-old was at the Walkers Stadium to discuss personal terms after the Cobblers accepted what is thought to be a record offer for the player they snapped up on a free transfer from Cambridge in 2005. The Chron understands a deal which could rise to the £500,000-mark after incentives and add-ons has been agreed with Foxes boss Ian Holloway, though Leicester are not the only club in the hunt for Johnson, who has scored five goals from central midfield this season. Coventry City boss Iain Dowie is a keen admirer, but the Sky Blues have put a block on any transfer activity until Thursday. Colchester United and Queens Park Rangers are also both interested, and Gray says he will not hinder the career progression of a youngster who now looks bound for the championship. "The final decision will not be mine or the chairman's," said Gray. "It will be Bradley's. "We've received a very substantial offer from a championship club and all parties agreed that we wouldn't play him against Millwall in case he picked up an injury. "There are a number of clubs interested in Bradley and there is a fair bit of interest. "He wants to talk to other clubs andI don't think we can stop Bradley from talking to a championship club because it is a step up for the boy and also because it is a very good offer for Northampton." Gray conceded he does not really want to sell Johnson, but a six-figure offer would be simply too good to refuse, especially as it could facilitate the purchase of three or four other new players. The manager – who nearly sold Johnson to Stevenage for £15,000 in his first week at Sixfields – hasn't ruled out having the player in his squad for the game at Elland Road this weekend. "We're in negotiations with two or three clubs and it's a case of waiting to see if anyone comes in with a bigger offer," he said. "We don't want to lose him but he's in a very nice position to have clubs after him. "You never know, it might not go through, and we might have him available for selection for the Leeds game on Saturday." From our local paper, Chronicle and Echo.

Definatly not worth the quoted 300/400k but we'll happily take it off you or another club! Yeah and if we signed Daniel Alves then we wouldn't have to play Stearman! There isn't a lot to add really. I think everyone gets the general gist. He's very left-footed though so I would imagine if he came to us as a first-choice player then he would play on the left wing. He even does that thing Tiatto did where he went round and round in circles if the opposition wouldn't let him play a pass or shoot with his left foot. The £300k figure is about his attributes and his potential, not necessarily that he's been doing it week in week out. As this bloke says, he is hard working and has a bit of flair as well. If a Championship team could coach that out of him every week then he would be an excellent player. The most important thing I'd say that no-one has mentioned yet is that Northampton do create chances. Very rarely do I go away from Sixfields and they haven't wasted a hatful of good chances. That's something we don't do at all, albeit in a higher division. We need players like Johnson who will pick a pass or shoot from distance. He might not be ready yet but at least he's the right sort of player. Also he's played a fair bit of his football as part of a central midfield three in a 3-5-2 so he's had less responsibility than you would normally in a 4-4-2. He still works hard though. He's certainly a different kettle of fish to Josh Low who was a lot older and had one good game and five bad games in League Two.

The same could be said of our entire starting 11 against QPR.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 BBC That's interesting. The actual Gray quotes in the Chron article suggest that Johnson might wait for the other clubs to talk terms with them too - but once the BBC reports that someone is joining a certain club, it tends to magically come true a few hours later.

Nah, done and dusted I'd say.
