Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I'm not enthused by this signing at all. What can this bloke offer that the likes of King can't?And the last midfielder called Johnson that was on our books didn't exactly prove a raging success, did he? Amazing, you call out other people for talking about things they know nothing about in one post, then go onto to judge a player you've never seen play by his surname in the next.
dave the caveman Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Dude, can I borrow that Crystal ball after you... what?..... you don't have one?THEN SHUT THE fook UP! Give the lad a chance. I'll give him a chance. It's not like I've got a choice. I'm just being realistic. I'm truly ecstatic that we have a man at this club ready and willing to throw money around to bring in anyone with a semblance of potential, but unless we start bringing in some proven quality we're going nowhere fast. Refer to almost every single signing made by Leicester City since Mandarics arrival.

Refer to almost every single signing made by Leicester City since Mandarics arrival. Well Clemance was apparently proven quality and he's failed to live up to his reputation. James Chambers is apparently proven quality and has started in his preffered position about twice after being ousted by Stearman. Apparently Howard is proven quality by virtue of him scoreing 18 goals last season. Not every single signing can be a Premiership player.
dave the caveman Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 It's fortunate then that we have more pressing things to worry about at the moment than Premiership survival. And here's me thinking we might be AIMING for the premiership. All be it in some distant far away land where 20 year old Northampton Town players - who inspire such comments from their own supporters as 'Bradley is average' and 'one game will be awesome then the next 5 will be rubbish ' - can magically transform into Premiership quality.
dave the caveman Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Not every single signing can be a Premiership player. This is the problem. We can't attract the players we really want. But we're not going to solve this by bringing in bus loads of average players or players with 'potential'. I thought we would have learned this lesson after MA. Make the signing count or don't make it at all.

If you can explain to me how we're going to attract Premiership quality players when we're languishing in the bottom half of the bottom half, and have been for 4 seasons now, then maybe I'll agree with you. As it stands though we actually need to avoid getting relegated and finish somewhere decent before anyone will view us as any kind of promotion contender and actually come to us.

It works like this.... get the players in to at least challenge in this league, then we might be able to attract some better players that would give us a chance at a higher level. There is no way we can do what you are expecting!!!

Northampton fans are generally idiots. He's not average, that must be just one who's pissed off at losing him. He's not the most consistent player in the world but he scores goals from midfield which is something we haven't had for years. If he signs we'd be gambling £300,000 on him being able to translate that goalscoring ability to our level and continuing to improve with age. It takes all kinds of players to make a winning team and you can't sign proven Premiership quality when you're at the bottom of the division below. We are taking a punt on a promising player and Northampton are only about twenty places below us in the Football League, it's not like they're in League Two. I think he's actually got the potential to become a fans favourite if we do sign him. Spanking one in from 25 yards and "doing nothing" for the next five games while putting in 100% effort each week hasn't done Iain Hume any harm and he came from the same league at a similar age.

Absolutely. Is he known for having a 'cultured left foot' if so, get him in. TPH will love him. £300,000 is fook all for a player of his potential. We need wingers as well though otherwise no-one will be of much use in our team.

There is no way we can do what you are expecting!!! What i'm hoping for is simply some stability. We have tried with all our might to put together a team who can challenge in the championship. And i do believe that amongst all the crap we have in the squad at present we do have players capable of giving us a comfortable mid-table position. But the constant chopping and changing of players, coaches and management has left us all a bit bewildered and the team languishing at the wrong end of the league. If we can cut down the squad, add some team spirit and determination, plus of course a bit of organisation, i'm sure we'll start climbing the table. We have a manager capable of this. He may not offer much in the way of tactical insight but he has bags of charisma which he can use to build team spirit and increase motivation. Unfortunately, the last few days have shown us that we're not going down that road. Instead, it's cheque book to the rescue again. Cue disgruntled players, frustrated fans, wildy fluctuating team selections and most probably, a change of manager. Lather, rinse, repeat.

reynard Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Have we actually signed this guy yet? have to say I've never heard of him but signing a guy with not that many appearances from the league below sounds like quite a gamble but then so called proven pros that we've signed recently have been crap as well.

Nothings been announced. I reckon another club has come in for him as well and he's mulling things over. I would if I were him, we're crap but then again so are Northampton and we pay silly wages for most of our players.

If we were looking for a player with a good left foot from League one who scores goals I've been saying Andy Robinson for seasons. Unfortunatley now he might be inclined to stay at Swansea <_<

That's basically been the situation all along, Coventry had to wait until today to make an offer because of their transfer embargo and QPR and Colchester are also interested. He's from Bermondsey so would apparently favour a move to QPR but they have signed a lot of midfielders already in the past few days so I'm not convinced they will still want him. I think it may come down to whether he prefers us or Cov. The BBC's report that he was set to sign for us was a bit premature IMO. The whispers out of Northampton have been about Coventry for weeks and I can't see him signing for us before talking to them. I hope we sign him, simply because he's the right sort of player. I'd even prefer him to Kavanagh. I certainly would have taken him instead of Hayles if that was the choice.

The People's Hero Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 TPH will love him I've not decided to love him or hate him yet. I certainly won't wait to see him play though.

So if he does go there, it's testiment to the shite we are in. Dowie has already said he won't pay over the odds this month, probably because although they've been taken over, they still don't have much funds to play with as of yet. Wonder what Blanderson will chunter on about in today's spicy number.

mancunianfox Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Weren't Bristol City's entire side playing in League One last season? Were are they in the table now? You lot are a right load of moaning minnies. If we had of signed Marvin Elliot in the summer you would of all moaned for weeks but that would probably have been better use of the money wasted by Martin Allen on Kishishev's signing on fee.
